Abstract Indonesia is one of the countries that has large coal reserves in the world, but its utilization is still limited

to the manufacture of briquettes and as fuel for electricity generation. Low rank coal in Indonesia reached

28.4% of coal reserves, 67,198,300,021 tons/year of lowrank coal production in East Kalimantan. On the

one hand the results of the study indicate thatactivated carbon can be made from organic and inorganic m

aterials mentioned in high carbon content. This article discusses the characteristics of activated carbon

produced from low rank coal of East Kalimantan by using acid and base activation with different

activators such as HCl, H3PO4 and NaOH. Low rank coal which has been prepared -100 +120 mesh is

carbonized at 6000C for 3 h, then after cold it was activated using 2.5 M concentration of HCl, H3PO4 and

NaOH for 8 h. Furthermore, an analysis of activated carbon refers to Indonesian National Standard (SNI

06-3730-1995) was carried out including moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon and

iodine absorption number. The best results were obtained by using HCl with activated carbon

characteristics such as a moisture content, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon and iodine absorption

number respectively as follows 5.23%, 11.72%, 8.85%, 74.2% and 660.40 mg/g

Abstract Coal is a mining product which is still abundant in Indonesia. Coal is divided into four classes: lignite, sub-

bituminous, bituminous, and anthracite. Lignite is a low rank coal. About 30% of Indonesia's coal reserves

are included in the low rank category. Despite their vast reserves, low-rank coals are considered undesirable

because their high moisture content entails high transportation costs, potential safety hazards in

transportation and storage, and the low thermal efficiency obtained in combustion of such coals. The use

of low-rank coal is still limited for briquettes and as fuel for electricity generation. Coal has the potential

as a raw material to produce activated carbon because it has a high carbon content.[9]This article

discusses the chemical activation process of lignite use a combination of activator H3PO4 - NaHCO3 to

determine the effect of activation time on the characteristics of the activated carbon produced.

Lignite has been prepared -100 +120 mesh is carbonized at 6000C for 3 h, then after cold it was activated

using 2.5 M concentration of H3PO4-NaHCO3 for 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 h. Furthermore, an analysis of activated

carbon refers to Indonesian National Standard (SNI 06-3730-1995) was carried out including moisture

content, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon and iodine absorption number. The best results were

obtained at 6 h of activation with the characteristics of activated carbon such as moisture content,

ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon and iodine absorption number respectively as follows 3.5%,

14.91%, 9.81%, 71.78% and 505.07 mg/g. Even though the ash content and iodine absorption number was

still below the standards referred to Indonesian National Standard (SNI 06-3730-1995), but the activation

of lignite by using a combination H3PO4-NaHCO3 activators have been increased iodine absorption

number from 215.75 mg/g to 505.07 mg/g.

Abstract

In Irradiance peak condition, the performance of the monocrystalline photovoltaic do not reach optimum state due to the power losses. There are many ways to decrease the power losses, one of them is using a reflector. In this work, the solar panel shelter has been built to support eco friendly electricity in campus area. To improve the efficiency of the solar panel shelter which is using monocrystalline photovoltaic, the reflector, as mention before, is applied. In other hand, the off-grid system of monocrystalline photovoltaic

is monitored by Blynk Apps. All of the parameters such as voltage, current, intensity of light could be

real time monitored by applying Internet of Things (IoT). The difference of efficiency between data with

and without reflector is significant. The maximum difference of efficiency is 20.6% where the efficiency

of monocrystalline photovoltaic with reflector is 27.86% and without reflector is 7.16%. This condition

occurred in the midday. Hence, the using of reflector on solar panel shelter is helpful to reach the

optimum performance of monocrystalline photovoltaic in irradiance peak condition.

Abstract Abstract - the development of a water quality monitoring system in aquaculture in real time based on the

internet of things technology is needed. This is related to efforts to optimize fish growth and increase

production yields. In addition, the owner does not need to be located in the pond all day. To see the

condition of the water on the pond, the owner can simply look at the data on the smartphone. So working

time becomes more efficient. In this study, we developed a water quality monitoring system consisting of

three integrated parts namely (1) sensors: dissolved oxygen (DO) temperature, pH, and salinity; (2)

ESP32 and ADS115 microcontrollers as controllers and ADCs; (3) Display of parameter values based on

Internet of Things with the Blynk platform. This system is able to measure water conditions in real time,

display parameter values via a Smartphone, and send notifications or alarms if there is a change in value

outside the specified value range. The test results show that this system can receive and send sensor data

to the Blynk application and the alarm sounds and the alarm notification is read on the smartphone in the

event of reading the parameter values outside the specified range.

Abstract

Provision of food, energy, and information with adequate and sustainable to ensure the welfare of the

people life. In 2011, 6 percent of national electricity production supplied by hydropower and 5 percent

from geothermal energy. PLN plans to increase the use of geothermal energy to 13 percent and hydropower

are still 6 percent of the national electricity production. Most of the energy availability fulfilled

independently by people with a lot of built Micro Hydro Power Plant (MHPP) waterwheel type, small

enough electricity capacity of about 100 watts. Though the area has considerable potential for abundant

hydro energy. Using the CFD method as the initial analysis for experiments has more benefits, including

saving time and costs. The variable of flow parameters and geometry can be easily developed to get the

desired results. However, research is needed to improve the accuracy of the results and the optimality of

the calculation process; the study of complex turbulent flow modelling becomes very important. The k-ε

model and renormalization group (RNG) k-ε model are widely used in research to produce the appropriate

models and develop the constants value. This turbulent flow modelling research was conducted to improve

the result accuracy and the calculation process optimality in the turbulent flow of crossflow turbine.

Research was done by comparing the simulation results of k-ε model and RNG k-ε model. The simulation

results of the k-ε model and RNG k-ε model, which is validated by comparing the simulation results with

experimental and calculations results. Both turbulence model provided good results to predict the

crossflow turbine power. The k-ε model was effectively used with comparable results to the RNG k-ε

model.

Abstract Indonesia has abundant solar energy potential because it is located near the equator. To reduce dependence

on fossil energy sources, the government began to promote renewable energy sources; one of them is solar

energy. Several studies on the potential of solar energy prove that solar energy can be relied upon as an

energy source in the future. The government has made a strategy for implementing solar energy by issuing

regulations and also cooperating with private parties and foreign countries. The production of solar panels

is also being encouraged, at this time the national industry has been able to produce solar panels with a

composition of local content that continues to increase. Technically the use of solar panels is well

understood. Several studies on equipment settings have been carried out to determine the orientation of

the solar panels. The research to analyse the main function of photovoltaic for generating electrical

power has also been carried out. For examples are for household electricity and street lighting and other

automation systems. Additional advantages of photovoltaic technology to absorbing heat have been

proposed in several studies on photovoltaic/thermal.

Abstract: This study analysed the powertrain electric vehicle (EV) system performance with two-speed

transmission. This research analysed various terrain conditions as a variable that will be used as a reference

in measuring the level of reliability of the vehicle’s performance, refers to its specification, center of gravity

and tires radius. The results were obtained by selecting suitable transmission ratio which are 1.96 for the

first gear and 1.25 for second gear. The required traction to do gearshift by the motor is not big enough

thus the gearshift becomes smoother. Base on the friction analysis with traction, it can be concluded that in

a 10° road slope, the vehicle is unable to yield traction of 6000 rpm at second gear due to the slope drag is

higher than the vehicle traction. As a result, the vehicle is able to travel of 65.30 km/h at second gear while

of 49.98 km/h at the fisrt gear. Whereas at a slope of 20°, the result showed that the vehicle is able toyield

traction of 5000 rpm at first gear due to the slope drag is higher than the vehicle thrust/traction. Therefore,

the vehicle is able to travel of 41.65 km/h at the second gear and of 49.98 km/h at the first gear.

Abstract

One of important feature in a vehicle is the braking system. It is made for a safety device during driving

this also included for operation of a heavy vehicle namely a forklift. However, forklift accident has a higher

annually. The human factor is considered the main cause of the accident due to the unconsciousness

condition while driving. This investigation emphases on applying an intelligent device that can classify

objects as well as measure distances in front of an object to decide the braking action. The method of this

study process pictures derived from a stereo camera that employed a neural network algorithm. A mini-

computer is implanted with the algorithm can classify the objects in front of vehicles. Later on, the two sets

of camera position that capture images that can be used to calculate the distance of objects from the

camera. Furthermore, process of decelerating signal depends on the distance. The categorization and

the distance measurement needs around 300 ms. Moreover, braking action is decided upon the intensity.

The higher value means hard stopping meanwhile lower value represents the slow stopping.

Abstract

The absence of national standardization in designing the construction of a network infrastructure, has

caused the design of computer network infrastructure to be varied, although when viewed from the side

of providers of network equipment there are several criteria available to design a good network

infrastructure. One variation in network infrastructure design can utilize virtual machine technology. For

use on a small scale such as SOHO (small Office Home Office), the use of virtual machines in designing

network infrastructure can be useful. The use of virtual machines is expected to increase efficiency in

building a computer network infrastructure on SOHO, because by utilizing virtual machines, network

devices such as routers, switches, or hubs can be removed.

Abstract

Underwater wet welding is one option that can be applied in overcoming underwater emergencies,

especially in the case of saving the ship damage. The base metal used in this study was low alloy high

strength low alloy (HSLA) AH 36. The welding process used the E6013 as a rutile electrode. Four rutile

electrodes were produced by adding 0, 1, 3 and 5 wt. % magnesium metal powder to the initial electrode

layer in such a way as to obtain Mn and Si deposits according to ANSI / AWS standard A5.1-91. The

shielding metal arc welding (SMAW) method was used with a heat input of 1.5 kJ/mm and 2.5 kJ/mm.

To find out the surface quality and defect, first conducted a Non-Destructive Test (ASME V) like a

penetrant test (PT) and Radiography test (RT). The observation of the metallographic structure was

performed by using an optical microscope. The results showed that the increase of Mg layer content is

attributed to both the refined microstructure and the bainite dominated microstructure in the weldment.

requirements and obviously network reliability on backbone cables. For Indonesia as an example, there are

countably less of internet providers that provide internet network connections with large bandwidth, and

are supported by a backbone network system that guarantees a stable internet connection. The backbone

cable installation in Indonesia is not yet standardized and structured, so the risk of backbone cables being

cut off by the private sector or the government is probably high. In consequence, in order of usage backbone

network with bandwidth capacity of 100 Gbps run alongside with more than 1 link is needed in other word

the redundancy system could avoid the probability of black out internet connection, within the redundancy

system monitoring applications are required such as Observium, MRTG, ping, and port interface to get

the value of comparison with the best performance that could support the improvement of internet services.

Abstract X Company as a silent chain manufacturer has a problem identifying the silent chain’s sound characteristics

for comparison among other products. Sound characteristics of the silent chain consist of amplitude,

frequency, and sound pressure level (SPL). To attain sound characteristics, a filter that can separate the

silent chain’s audio among other components is needed. Two options that sprout are Butterworth Filter and

also ICA. The design of the Butterworth filter is based on identifying the pulse transfer function H(z) that

satisfies the requirements of the filter specification. ICA uses mathematical and statistical approaches to

decompose components in the observed data set. Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) model used in ICA.

In application, sound sources attained from test rig which is consists of a silent chain set (gear, silent chain,

and a DC motor). The filter program will be made in Matlab software with a time-domain plot and

spectrogram as the outputs. ICA and Butterworth filter can separate silent chain audio. Silent chain’s

frequencies were ranged from 7000-14000 Hz, and the motor’s frequencies are ranged from 0-1000 Hz. As

a comparison, the Butterworth filter can work better than ICA because it can minimize noise frequency

cleaner and the silent chain's frequency more visible.

Abstract This research aims to analyze the volume of reparations and material necessities for road pavement layer

components to use as the foundation of gradual application development in an attempt to efficiently develop

a formula in management of road maintenance operations. Primary data were gathered through surveying

road damage for the type of deterioration, severity of deterioration, and the stationing location of the

deteriorations. The amount of samples must be determined beforehand to satisfy requirements according to

Shahin (2005). Surveys were conducted on arterial roads with flexible pavement. Secondary data comprised

road deterioration conditions denoted in International Roughness Index (IRI) value. The severity of the

damage was analyzed manually with the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) as the foundation to

formulate algorithms. Simulated calculation was then performed for application development, beginning

from interpreting IRI data, followed by the volume of deteriorations, of reparations, and finally material

necessities for reparation. This rudimentary application is performed in Microsoft Excel and called PCI

Calculator. Simulation results demonstrate the output of deterioration volume, reparation volume, and

material necessities resulting from the input of stationing data on deterioration spots, type of deterioration,

and severity of damage.

Key Words : application, IRI, PCI, road deterioration, severity of deterioration.

Abstract Conventional temperature measurement in a fish dyke with thermometer, in a certain depth was not

practical. Because the measurement will get wet and thermometer’s scale will be unreadable. Another

instrument that is more practical to use is by using data logger. The dyke’s temperature measurement

with different depth variable will need 3 units of data logger, so it will be more expensive. One of the

solutions to solve this is to design a data logger with 3 ports that haven’t been produced in the market.

The goal of this research is to design a multifunctional data logger. This research will be done by designing

a data logger with 3 ports. Those 3 ports will be synchronized with data logger’s output and thermocouple’s

input. The performance’s test with measuring the temperature on the depth of 5cm,

12cm, and 15cm from the dyke’s surface. The results shows that on the depth of 5cm, the sensor is able

to detect dyke’s temperature around 24 ± 0.1°c that lasts for 3 hours, on the depth of 12cm around 20 ±

3°c that lasts for 2 and a half hours, on the depth of 15 cm, around 18 ± 0.3°c. These data proved that the

prototype is capable of measuring the dyke’s water temperature on different level of depths, also capable

to save and display the measurement’s data.

Abstract Chitosan is one of natural polymer, nontoxic, biodegradable and biocompatibility material. Chitosan has

been investigated as papermaking additive to improve properties of paper such as physical and optical

properties. The objective of the research was to investigate the effectiveness chitosan in papermaking

process and to determine the effect of chitosan on properties of paper. Chitosan was added in

papermaking process with different concentrations of 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2%. The efficiencies of Chitosan in

papermaking can be obtained by measuring and analyzing of properties of paper, such as physical and

optical properties. The increasing dosage of chitosan, will increase the physical properties of paper, such

as tensile strength and decrease water absorption of paper, but will not influence the brightness of paper.

The optimum concentration of chitosan used in paper in this study is 1.5%. As concentration of chitosan

increased, tensile strength increased, but water absorption of the papers decreased. Tensile index value of

HVS paper is greater than newspaper. Otherwise, the water absorptiveness of HVS paper is lower than

newspaper. Chitosan was effective as additive in papermaking process to improves mechanical properties

of paper.

Abstract Fabrication of carbon-ceramic composites based on carbon with an organoclay has been carried out. This study was designed by varying the particle size of carbon powders of mesh 150; 200; 250; 300; 350, with a carbon-organoclay ratio of 30: 70% by weight,200 bar compacting, and pyrolysis sintering of 950; 1000; 1050°C. Density/porosity and composite morphology have been studied. The density of carbon- ceramic composites experiences relatively small changes. Porosity tends to follow density, even though the size of carbon particles gets smaller. The occurrence of porous and cracking is more due to the irregular shape of carbon particles and matrix particles. Bonding between particles is only mechanical in nature, relying only on the irregularity of the pairs of particles. Abstract

Gas Power Plant (GPP) is a power plant that uses power produced by the combustion of fuel and high-

pressure air to turn a turbine that has been coupled with a generator to produce electrical energy. In this

research a GPP simulator software was created and validated using experimental data sets, therefore

operators can operate GPP safely and produce the desired output. This software simulator consists of virtual

instruments that include gas energy sources, combustion chamber, cooling system, generators, measuring

devices and controllers. The controller settings will affect the turbine performance. This simulator software

was made by using Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) facilities from LabVIEW. It can be

use to understand the operation and behavior of gas turbines. The resulting thermal efficiency can be

arranged by adjusting the flow of gas fuel.

Abstract

One of the performance parameters of transformer is efficiency, the Transformer efficiency is related

with harmonics when given the load. In this research discussed the harmonic influence on the

performance of Transformer transmission 20 KV/ 1600 KVA power capacity is and then decreased to

400 V by the main transformer.

Events in the field almost every year there is damage in the Transformator transmission caused by the

temperature increase so that damage the packing list and cause the oil leakage of the transformers. The

situation occurs when the transformer is burdened by a three-way rectifier with a non-linear load

continuously, this leads to the occurrence of harmonics in the transformer's output. Harmonics is a source of current that is excreted as with THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) current harmonics after passing impedance transformed into THD voltage. Test results showed that THD in 1600 KVA transformer showed less than 8% current of THD, this indicates that the Transformator is still good used according to the IEEE recommendation. Abstract The availability of silica sand is quite abundant in West Java province, silica sand mining is located in

Cibadak district of Sukabumi-West Java, with high silica content of about 95%. In this research conducted silica sand sintering mixed with Alum (Al2SO4) thus forming AlSiO2 which is electrically conductive. Activities the research was conducted in the laboratory of the Balai Besar Keramik, Bandung for sintering and milling process, while for the measurement of SEM and EDS carried out in the laboratory of ITB Physics and Physics Laboratory of PPET LIPI Bandung. The method used is the destruction of sintering, by mixing silica sand, 10% activated carbon and 30% Alum (Al2SO4) in sintering at a temperature of 1400-1700 °c with a speed of 4 C/minute, cooling time of about 4 hours. And then the material is soften with the size of #100, #300 and #1000 mesh, and further characterization by performing measurements; SEM and EDS to observe the morphology and material content. The results of the observation show that the temperature of sintering greatly affects the properties of the material, the value of electric conductivity rise (ascending) for mesh particles #100, #300 and #1000, the smallest is 0.017 mmho when sintering 1400 oC and the highest 0.03 mmho at 1700 oC. Then also

provide a density value between 2.3-2.6 gram/cm3, translucent voltage 6-12 kV/mm with the porosity

decreased from 10% to 2%.

Based on the test results of the translucent voltage and its electrical resistivity, this material can be

applied as a gas sensor substrate material because it has the properties between the parameters SiO2 and

Alumina (Al2O3). Keywords: Sintering, silica sand, Alum, conductivity, density.

Abstract The heart is an organ that is vital for the human body. The emergence of heart disease can be fatal for

sufferers. For some conclusions, arrhythmias (heart rhythm disorders) are the primary cardiovascular

disease. The cardiac activity can be read through the heart's record tool. The working relationship of this

tool is by installing electrodes on the body, then the heart will give a signal due to heart electricity, after

that the device emits a heart signal, the resulting signal is conditioned and processed into an ECG signal

consisting of PQRST parameters, and transferred to a computer to be stored in a database. Data

processing considers the R-R wave intervals and Heart Rate (HR), then classified using Artificial Neural

Networks to produce conclusions about the results of the diagnosis in the form of examination reports. The

technology platforms used are ADS 8232 and NI My-DAQ. The target to be achieved from this study

is a heart record device that is made to be able to read PQRST waves that can describe the heart condition

of a patient's heart and can classify arrhythmia or normal abnormalities. Based on the results of the training

that has been done, the network recognizes 100% of the data being trained.

presentation of performance, the results of sampling data from several measurements of QoS parameters.

The ability of IPv6 specifications that have a greater capacity than previous versions, as part of the media

in sharing resources. This also affects the facilities offered in supporting file-sharing services. File-sharing

services are activities where Internet users can share files with other internet users by providing files that

first upload a file to the server computer and then other Internet users can download the file. The dynamic

routing protocol in addressing IPv6 RIPng and OSPFv3 can affect performance, due to the testing required

with QoS parameters. The protocol performance testing method is done by analyzing the results of the

process of downloading files that are done from the server, then observed using Wireshark. The test results

in general, the quality of QoS services in the RIPng routing protocol is slightly better than OSPFv3 to be

implemented in file-sharing services..

E-mail: [email protected], [email protected]

Abstract Flood control in DKI Jakarta has been sought since the Dutch era until now, but the flood problem caused

increasingly complex. The benchmark of Jakarta flood control is the concept of Prof. H. Van Breen (1918),

which is planned when the area of Jakarta (Batavia) is still an area of 125 km2. Along with the development

of the city with a wide addition of up to 650 km2 in 1974 it is necessary to modify the concept, especially

as an effort to control upstream surface flow DAS Ciliwung. Alternative reservoir is located in central area

DAS Ciliwung (Bojonggede), with the determination of criteria based on topographical conditions, land

allocation plan, changes in the hydrograph composition at DAS Ciliwung. Through calculations, data

analysis, and modeling implemented using HEC RAS 3.1.3, it appears that with the reservoir on DAS

Ciliwung-also not able to make Jakarta flood free. However, the reservoir can help to reduce the flow,

slowing the travel time from upstream to the city of Jakarta.

MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE (SCC)

USING STEEL FIBER WASTE Amalia

Politeknik Negeri Jakarta

E-mail: [email protected]

Abstract Concrete is a brittle material that has a high compressive strength, but has a low tensile strength. One way

to reduce this weakness is to use fiber as micro reinforcement in concrete. Steel fiber waste in the form of

fiber is ductile, so it can be used to reduce brittle concrete. The purpose of this study is to examine the

mechanical behavior of concrete with various doses of steel fiber waste. The study was conducted by

making concrete cylindrical specimens with a diameter of 15 cm, height 30 cm to test the compressive

strength, tensile strength, stress strain, and modulus of elasticity. To examine the flexural strength of

concrete, 10 cm x 10 cm x 100 cm beam were made. The specimens were made with 5 variations in the

amount of steel scrap waste fiber, 0%, 0.25%, 0.50%, 0.75%, and 1% of the weight of concrete. Rice

husk ash is used to replace a portion of cement by 5% by weight of cement, for all variations of the test

specimen. The results showed that the use of ASP and steel fiber waste can increase compressive

strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, modulus of elasticity, and maximum strain of concrete. The use

of ASP by 5% and steel fiber waste up to 0.75% can increase compressive strength, flexural strength, tensile

strength, modulus of elasticity, and maximum strain in concrete. In concrete with a fiber content of 0.75%,

tensile strength increases up to 85.39%, and flexural strength increases up to 22.7%.

Abstract

Heart sound detection devices using an electronic stethoscope based on Android is the development of an

acoustic stethoscope. This tool converts heartbeat sounds into electrical signals by displaying S1 (Lub) and

S2 (Dub) signals wirelessly on the android application. This tool consists of a mic condenser which

functions to convert the heartbeat sound that is captured by a stethoscope into a heartbeat signal, a signal

conditioning circuit that serves to repair the detected signal. The output signal from the signal conditioning

circuit is processed by ADC in Arduino which after that will be sent to an android device using bluetooth.

The software used to display the results of heart rate detection is Android Studio. In addition to displaying

output signals (S1 and S2) on the Android application, it is also used to store detection results in the form

of graphs

REAL-TIME MEASUREMENT FOR CONTROLLING GROUNDING

E-mail: [email protected]

Abstract

Grounding is the protection system that is useful for transferring the leakage current from an electrical

system to the ground through a grounding electrode buried in the ground. Types of grounding electrodes

can be in the form of rod electrodes, plate electrodes, mesh-connected electrodes or other forms. In order

for the grounding system to function properly, it must be ensured that the grounding system has very small

earth resistance, close to zero. In addition, earth resistance value is influenced by soil resistivity, mineral

content, soil moisture and temperature particularly due to weather changes. Indonesia has two seasons, the

dry season and the rainy season. During the dry season, soil temperatures increase, causing the soil to dry

up and the earth resistance to increase as well. Therefore, to prevent an increase in the value of earth

resistance due to weather change, a grounding system that can be monitored and controlled automatically

is needed. The proposed grounding resistance monitoring system is developed in LabVIEW environment.

The voltage applied to the electrodes will cause current to flow to the ground, so the earth resistance value

can be measured. Experimental results show that the earth resistance value can be measured in real-time,

and the data obtained can be used as feedback to control the earth resistance value.

Abstract

Medicine and food are often processed in tablets using dies and punches. The material of dies and punches

for this purpose must be hard, high fatigue strength, wear-resistant, and corrosion-resistant. The material is

also not reactive during contact with ingredients and specific environments to meet health standards.

Stainless-steel such as A316 meets these criteria. However, due to the complicated forms of dies and

punches, the conventional machining cannot be applied to process the material. Therefore, the sinker EDM

(electrical discharge machining) process is chosen. EDM is non-conventional machining that uses spark

energy with a large electric current density for metal cutting. EDM is strongly influenced by process

parameters including discharge current, pulse-on-time, servo sensitivity, and electrode material. These

parameters affect the smoothness of the dies and punch surfaces as well as corrosion of grain boundaries and

cracks both on the surface and below the surface (second layer). Corrosion and crack appearing on dies and

punches will affect the lifetime of tools and medicine and food processed. This research aims to find the

appropriate EDM parameters to avoid grain boundary corrosion and crack. Based on the result, discharge

current and electrode material give significant effect to grain boundary corrosion and crack.

Abstract

This research aims to study the surface characteristics of AISI 316 processed by Electrical Discharge

Machining (EDM). EDM is a non-conventional machining process that uses thermal energy in the form of

high-temperature electrical discharge 10,000,000C - 12,000˚C occurs between the tools and the workpiece

as the cutting media. The EDM process results in a high degree of precision for complex product shapes and

excellent surface quality. The different variables of the research are discharge current (6A, 12A, 21A) and

copper electrodes. Fixed variables used were pulse on-time 120 µs, pulse off time three µs, voltage 45 V,

and kerosene CPC dielectric liquid. Control variables are surface roughness, macro and microhardness,

Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) analysis, and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). The results of

roughness testing found the best roughness when the 6A discharge current was 6,836 µm. The highest

Vickers microhardness test is 229,062 HV at 12 A discharge current at the surface, and the lowest is 163,648

HV at 12A discharge current in the recasting layer. The highest hardness is 11 HRC at 21A discharge current,

while the lowest is 6 HRC at 6 A variables. The results of the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) tests

showed crack, valley, pores, and recast particle on the surface layer.

Abstract

Air conditioning system is a system used to condition the air in accordance with the desired design. The type

of air conditioner commonly used at home and office is a type of split air conditioner. AC geothermal system

is an air conditioning technology that utilizes the temperature of the earth. There are 2 types of geothermal

system conditioning. That is an open system and a closed system. Research has been carried out on

modifying split air conditioners into geothermal AC system, using a closed system. The problem that arises

is what if there is a location that can facilitate the use of an open geothermal system. Of course this will be

easier and cheaper to implement than a closed system, with supporting records of open system available free

of charge. This design is carried out to provide an alternative geothermal air conditioning system. Based on

the discussion, it can be concluded that air conditioning with modified AC split into an open geothermal

system can be carried out if there are ponds / rivers / lakes near buildings that use split air conditioners, and

the implementation of split AC modifications allows increased efficiency of energy use in the building /

house

THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO SUPPORT LAKES OF DEPOK AS

TOURISM DESTINATION By Cecep Gunawan & Zaenal Abidin Eko Putro

Journalism Study Program, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta E-mail: [email protected]

Abstract For one of its potential as natural resource site and natural tourism destination, lake has still been significant

for Depok people either of its function as buffer zone of irrigation to Jakarta greater area or as a source of

local people income from tourism and fish breeding. In short, the current 23 lakes of Depok have still been

well functioned, except one or two lakes that have changed to be housing land. However, Depok

government can not do more to manage the lakes because the lakes are being supervised directly by the

central Government. It is widely known that the active lakes can give added value of income for local

people, especially from public area and tourism and environmental conservation. Nonetheless, publication

to support these value-added tools for local people has not been yet reserved, including publication through

social media. Presumably, the overlapping of lakes management between central government and local

government causes less publication effort either outdoor publication or internet- based publication.

Precisely, the use of social media to support publication is poorly available. Based on field research through

qualitative approach, the paper tries to explore the opinion of lake’ stakeholders such as the unit of

responsible of lake management and local lake tourism player on how they promote lakes of Depok as the

potential tourism destination, especially through social media. The use of social media to support the

publication of a massage has been widely studied, but the study on social media to support lake as tourism

destination is relatively small. This paper needs to attract many parties including policy makers as well as

scholars to pay attention on this issue.

Abstract The research addresses how Sundanese terms of address are translated into English. It discusses specifically

the translation techniques practiced by the translator and the quality of the translation. The research

materials are taken from Sundanese short stories and their translation in English. The theories applied are

Molina Albir for translation techniques and Nababan, et.al for translation quality. The analyses are

carried out using Spreadly methods, i.e. domain, taxonomy, componential and culture findings. The

results show that there are five translation techniques practiced by the translator, Established

equivalent, pure borrowings, deletion, variation, and implicitation. The translation quality appears to gain

2.5 as a whole. This score means that the translation is quite good. While the translation accuracy takes the

highest score of 2.7, followed by acceptability and readability having 2.08. It is also found out that choice

of words in the target language, English is not so rich that it is difficult to avoid borrowing terms from the

source text.

E-mail: [email protected]

Abstract In translation study of books on science and technology, equivalence problems of words/terms usually arise since not all words and terms in such books can be translated directly and equivalently in accordance with the message (meaning) transfered from the source language. This research was aimed at describing the meaning accuracy of English terms in Geotechnical science and their translations in Bahasa Indonesia. This research used a comparative research model in which the meaning of English terms in Geotechnical science were compared with that of their translations in Bahasa Indonesia. Meanwhile, the approach used in this research was descriptive qualitative. A number of 60 terms with their meanings were analyzed without their context in sentences using componential analysis of meaning.

From the analysis, the meaning accuracy of English terms and Indonesian terms in Geothecnical science

could be obtained. The result of the analysis indicated that all of the terms were classified accurate, and

no term was classified less accurate or inaccurate. The findings of this research were expected to become

the basic knowledge for the development of the translation theory, particularly the translation of Civil

Engineering terms, as well as to prepare a Dictionary of Civil Engineering terms.

Abstract

This study aims to prove the money illusion phenomenon where consumers more easily spend their money,

if the money is in a small unit of value. Proof will be made of cash spending and spending with digital

money. Respondents numbered 100 people. They are young consumers who often shop online. They are

also OVO users for at least 1 year. Testing is done by ANOVA. The results prove that there is no difference

in consumers' interest in shopping when using small denomination cash or small denomination OVO. The

Money Illusion Theory is proven when testing is done on consumers' shopping interests using small

denomination cash and large denomination OVO, the result is consumers are more interested in using small

denomination cash. But when the two payment methods are digitally compared, the results show that there

is no difference in consumer interest in shopping using small denomination OVO and large denomination

OVO. Consumers feel a pity to spend digital money in the form of large denomination OVO. The

invalidation of money illusion theory, probably because the consumer does not see the money in a specific

DISPUTE RESOLUTION BETWEEN BUSINESS CONSUMERS AND CONSUMERS THROUGH ARBITRATION IN THE CONSUMER

PROTECTION PERSPECTIVE Yuyut Prayuti

Universitas Islam Nusantara Bandung, JL. Soekarno Hatta No. 530, Bandung, Jawa Barat E-mail: [email protected]

Abstract There are several reasons behind the emergence of interest and attention to ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) and arbitration: First, the need to provide dispute resolution mechanisms that are more flexible and responsive to the needs of the parties to the dispute; Second, to strengthen community involvement in the dispute resolution process; and third, expanding access to achieve or realize justice so that each dispute that has its own characteristics which sometimes does not fit into one form of settlement, will be suitable with another form of settlement, so the parties can choose the best mechanism. The background of the problem is; What is the Process and Ways of Resolving Disputes between Business Actors and Consumers through Arbitration in the Consumer Protection Perspective in Indonesia, What is the Effectiveness of the Implementation of Dispute Resolution through Arbitration in the Consumer Protection Perspective in Indonesia? The method of approach in this study uses the Normative Juridical approach, which is an approach that bases on a review of legal views and uses secondary data or library material as library material as the main material of research. The specifications of this study are analytical descriptive. Conclusions are; The UUPK Law also regulates dispute resolution through the court and outside the court. One way to resolve disputes is through arbitration and alternative dispute resolution is regulated in Law No. 30 of 1999. There are several ways to resolve disputes, namely Arbitration, Consultation, Negotiation, Conciliation Mediation, and Expert Assessment. The length of the settlement process through Arbitration is 180 working days, the Verdict is Final and Binding, so that legal certainty and a sense of justice obtained by the Parties is more guaranteed in the perspective of Consumer Protection, Effectiveness of Arbitration in the context of Consumer Protection is more effective, efficient, fast and low cost compared to settlement through the Court because it is vulnerable to a long settlement due to the burden of cases that have accumulated, besides those parties who do not agree can make Appeals, Appeals or Reconsideration Efforts. Suggestions are; There is a need for legal certainty that when the parties choose disputes between business actors and the public through the Arbitration or BPSK, the results of the decision cannot be tested in other judicial institutions. For Settlement through Arbitration or Consumer Dispute Settlement Agency (BPSK) the results of the Decision issued through the dispute resolution agency can be done by the Executive itself, not through the Court. 2 Keywords : Dispute Resolution, Business Consumers, Arbitration, Consumer Protective

GUARANTEE AND REGULATION OF THE MINISTER OF FINANCE

NUMBER 130 / PMK.010 / 2012 Universitas Islam Nusantara Bandung, Indonesia

E-mail: [email protected]

Abstract

Article 11 The Fiduciary Security Law stipulates that the object of fiduciary security must be registered at

the Fiduciary Registration Office, then a fiduciary guarantee certificate will be issued which has an

executorial power. Likewise Article 1 paragraph (1) jo. Article 2 Minister of Finance Regulation No. 130

/ PMK.010 / 2012 Concerning Registration of Fiduciary Guarantees for Financing Companies

Conducting Consumer Financing for Motorized Vehicles with Fiduciary Guarantee imposes the same thing.

In practice there are finance companies that register late. Therefore problems arise as to how the legal

consequences of late registration of fiduciary guarantees are in terms of Law Number 42 of 1999 concerning

Fiduciary Guarantees and Regulation of the Minister of Finance Number 130 / PMK.010 /

2012. This research was analytical descriptive with a normative juridical approach and data collection

techniques by conducting a literature study, then the data obtained were analyzed in a qualitative juridical

manner. The legal consequence of the late registration of fiduciary guarantees is that if the debtor

defaults, the financial institution cannot execute the fiduciary guarantee, because there is no fiduciary

guarantee certificate, so that it can only be done by filing a civil suit to the District Court and the position

of the financial institution is only as a concurrent creditor. Therefore, supervision is required from the

Financial Services Authority so that finance companies carry out fiduciary guarantee registration

obligations.
