The Difference in Hopes

• Human Hope

• Based on man’s own abilities and resources.

• Unsure as to the outcome.

• Promises not guaranteed.

• Life, Joy, Wealth, Death, Afterlife

Godly Hope:

• Based on Jesus Christ’s abilities and resources.

• Without doubt to the outcome.

• Promises fulfilled.

• Life, Joy, Wealth, Death, Afterlife

The Nation’s Hope will be Materialized

• Jer 30:1-3, 18• Am 9:14 I will bring back the captives of My

people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit them; They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.

• Am 9:15 I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them," Says the Lord your God.

• Not just a temporal return in the time of Ezra and Nehemiah

• Jer 30:7• Dan12:1 "At that time Michael shall stand up,

The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation, Even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, Every one who is found written in the book.

The Nation’s Hope will be Individualized

• Jer 30:9 But they shall serve the Lord their God, And David their king, Whom I will raise up for them.

• So Who’s “David their king”?

• Jer 23:5 "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.

• Jer 23:6 In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

• Ac 2:29 "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

• Ac 2:30 "Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,

• Lu 1:32 "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.

• Eze 34:23 "I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them-My servant David. He shall feed them and be their shepherd.

• Eze 34:24 "And I, the Lord, will be their God, and My servant David a prince among them; I, the Lord, have spoken

The Nation’s Hope will be Personalized

• God’s given the nation a Hope in the future. He’s explained to them who this Hope is. Now God enlightens the People to a New Covenant written on their hearts and not on stone tablets

• Jer 31:31-34

The Nation’s Hope will be Realized

• In the latter days Israel’s restoration will be complete. The children will return as one to fully inherit the land of which God gave Abraham so many years before. Never to be uprooted again. And the Hope of King Jesus will be realized

• Ho 2:19"I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy

Man’s Hope will be Materialized

• Eph 1:18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints

• Ac 20:32 "So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

• Eph 1:11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

• Col 1:12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

• Col 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

• 1pe 1:4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you

Man’s Hope will be Individualized

• Joh 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

• So Who’s “David their king”(His only begotten Son)?

• Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

• Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth

• Re 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

Man’s Hope will be personalized

• Isa 42:6 "I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles,

• Mt 26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."

• Mt 26:27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.

• Mt 26:28 "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

• Heb 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Man’s Hope will be Realized

• In the latter days Israel’s(the believer’s) restoration will be complete. The children(believers) will return as one to fully inherit the land (Heaven) promised them. Never to be uprooted again. And the Hope of King Jesus will be realized.

• Joh 14:3"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
