Home Learning Booklet- Week 3 Part A 20th April – 24th April
Name:___________
Class:_____________
Year 5 Week 3
We have put together a pack based on the Year 5 curriculum, which we expect children to
complete. Please provide your child with paper to complete the activities in this booklet.
The maths in this booklet includes problem solving and reasoning questions that help the
children to articulate their reasoning and think mathematically. Some children may find
these a challenge. Please note that the Maths section each day provides the children a
choice of worksheets based on their understanding and confidence of the topic. As they
would in class, they need to choose the appropriate worksheet. They could always start on
one and move to another. We do not expect all children to complete all the work set for a
particular day. The expectation is that they would spend 30 minutes everyday on the
worksheets.
Please do not hesitate to contact the Year 5 team if you have any questions.
Mind Up: You will find a set of comprehensive Mind UP resources that you can
complete at home. https://mindup.org.uk/families/ . To continue completing 3 brain breaks
per day at home, open the link below and watch the video in the PAUSE. LISTEN. BREATHE

10 mins: Times table Rockstars: As always, we ask for your support at home to encourage your children to practise their multiplication tables and related division facts. We expect children to know the times tables up to 12 x 12. In our experience it is very difficult for a child to make good progress in numeracy without this basic knowledge.
ENGLISH Writing/ Grammar/ Reading Comprehension Spelling focus is on Year 5/6 statutory list
Grammar: Subordinate Clauses
Plan a story Write the first three paragraphs of your story
Conclude your story
Edit and improve your story
Reading for at least 30 mins: We ask for your support in ensuring that children read every day as this will greatly assist their reading and comprehension skills. The children should continue to use their homework diary as a reading record, writing notes about what is happening in the book and their opinion on what they have read. In this booklet, we have included a reading challenge that recommends a variety of reading materials. The children have the opportunity to earn certificates depending on how many challenges they complete (with evidence in their reading records). Every 7 completed challenges gain a certificate.
Spelling – complete spelling page - learn the correct spellings if not correct. The word search is optional (as not everyone will be able to print out the booklet).
