Conclusion

If you water plants with coffee it would take more time for it to sprout or not sprout at all. The amount of time that a seed will sprout would depend on how many milliliters of coffee you water the seeds with. It is okay to drink coffee, but if you drink more than recommended or depend on it then you should drink less of it. I felt surprised at the results because the coffee really effected the seeds. Some of the seeds didn’t even sprout at all over the seven day period. I think we should’ve tested more concentrations of coffee.

Hypothesis Does different concentration of coffee effect seeds?

If we add coffee to radish seeds, then it would grow slower then adding water to the seeds.

MethodWe used five containers to put the plants. We put

forty radish seeds in each container. We used a total of two hundred radish seeds. We used Folgers Coffee to water the seeds. We mixed different concentration of coffee with 60 ML of water to add to the seeds. The ratio of coffee to water were 0:6, 1:6, 2:6, 4:6, and 6:6.

There are many health risks to drinking coffee like anxiety disorders. Other risks are sleeping disorder and elevated heart beats and stress. Drinking coffee everyday and many times a day can lead to caffeine dependency syndrome in other words you get addicted to caffeine. The caffeine in coffees interferes with adenosine, a brain chemical that has a calming effect. The caffeine causes our body to dehydrate and a lack of liquid in our body causes constipation. If infants consume caffeine they risk in having breathing problems. If a pregnant women drinks coffee they risks premature birth or inability to conceive. Many chemicals in coffee and decaf irritate the stomach lining causing digestive disorders. Tannic acid, giving coffee its dark color, can cause people’s teeth to stain.

There are also benefits in drinking coffee like helping people become more focus and alert. Coffee also energizes people. It can reduce some diseases like Parkinson’s disease. Ongoing studies show coffee may be an anti-diabetic compound. Coffee can also reduce headaches and migraines. Coffee also has anti- cancerous molecules that reduce Colon cancer. Coffee can avoid gallstone disease. It can also help control asthma. It also reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. Although coffee stains your teeth, it prevents dental cavities. Coffee can cause people to have a better appetite. It also has a depression- lowering effect. The caffeine can help a person spot grammar errors, but not misspelled words.
