Ito ay bilang bahagi sa ginanap na Gift Giving Program sa Parokya ng Ina ng mga Walang Mag-ampon o POLA, Hulo, Man- daluyong City. Sinimulan ito sa isang katesismo na kung saan ay nagpalabas ng animation film tungkol sa batang Hesus na pinangungunahan ng mga katekista ng Parokya. Nagpakitang-gilas rin ang ilang mga kabataan sa pamamgitan ng sayaw at pag-awit. Nagbahagi rin ng pagtuturo si Fr. Gerome Hernandez, MSP at Coordinator ng MSP Migranst Desk. Sinundan ito ng mga palaro na siyang bumalot ng saya sa buong simbahan dahil sa hiyawan at tawanan na dulot ng mga kabataang ito. Nagkaroon din ng kaunt- ing salo-salo bago dumako sa pagdiriwang ng children‘s mass. Kasunod nito ay ang pagbibigay ng mga regalo. Ito ay ang mga kagamitang pang- eskuwela tulad ng schoolbag, notebook, lapis, ballpen, eraser, sharpener, crayons at pencil case. Ang mga mahihirap na kabataang ito ay pawang mga magaaral mula sa kindergarten hanggang Grade 5 at nagmula sa iba‘t ibang lugar na nasasakupan ng parokya. Sa pangunguna ni Fr. Alvin Parantar, MSP ng Hyewadong Filipino Catholic Community (HFCC) ay nakapaglikom ng kaukulang pondo upang ipangtustos sa nasabing programa. Sa pamamagitan ng MSP Migrants Desk sa pan- gunguna ni Bro. Allan Rodriguez ay nagsagawa ng survey sa iba‘t ibang sangay ng POLA. Katuwang din sa pagsasagawa ng programang ito ang Service Ministry ng POLA at ang MSP -JPIC. mang ng hapon ay punong-puno na ang simba-han ng mga kabataan at mga magulang ng 300 na mga batang nabiyayaan ng mga kagamitang pang-eskuwela. Ito ay bilang bahagi sa ginanap na Gift Giving Program sa Parokya ng Ina ng mga Walang Mag-ampon o POLA, Hulo, Man-

daluyong City.

Sinimulan ito sa isang katesismo na kung

saan ay nagpalabas ng animation film tungkol sa batang Hesus na pinangungunahan ng mga katekista ng Parokya. Nagpakitang-gilas rin ang ilang mga kabataan sa pamamgitan ng sayaw at pag-awit. Nagbahagi rin ng pagtuturo si Fr. Gerome Hernandez, MSP at Coordinator ng MSP Migranst Desk. Sinundan ito ng mga palaro na siyang bumalot ng saya sa buong

MALIGAYANG PASKO!!!! Ito ang pagbati na laging namumutawi sa ating mga bibig sa tuwing sasapit ang gani-tong pagkakataon– ang pagdiriwang ng kaarawan ng ating tagapagligtas na si Hesu-Kristo.

Subalit maligaya nga bang talaga? Ilang araw ang nakalipas, tayo ay nagising sa isang malagim na naman na balitang nangyari sa ating bansa dahil sa malakas na pagulan dala ng bagyong Sendong. Maraming buhay na naman ang nakitil at sa ngayon ay marami pa

din ang nawawala. Karamihang biktima ay mga bata at mga matatanda. Sari-saring reaksiyon ang ating maririnig. Subalit nangingibabaw ang kalungkutan at pagdadalamhati. Madalas naririnig sa mga nakakapanayam ay ang mga kata-gang ―malungkot ang pasko.‖

―Malungkot ang pasko.‖ Sino nga ba ang may ganang magdiwang at mag-saya sa ganitong sitwasyon? Makuha ba natin ang magdiwang kung alam natin na may mga kapatid tayong ni simpleng pagkain para sa Noche Buena ay walang maihain, walang masisilungan, at walang damit?

Ang diwa ng kapaskuhan ay maaaring di nakikita sa panlabas lamang dahil ang tunay na diwa nito ay nasa dalisay at taimtim na pagtanggap natin sa ating Tagapagligtas sa ating mga puso, ang pagbabalik-loob at pakikipagugnayan sa Panginoon.

Ang trahedyang ito ay muling nagiiwan sa atin ng napakalaking hamon – ang makiisa sa ating mga kapatid na na-salanta ng bagyong Sendong. Ang bawat biktima ng trahedyang ito ay si Kristo na kumakatok sa pintuan ng ating mga puso para sa kaunting habag at kaunting tulong. Ang tulong na ating

maiaambag, gaano man ito kaliit, ay magbibigay sa kanila ng pag-asa at kasiyahan sa araw ng pasko. Maligayang Pasko!!! Ano pa ba ang mas higit pang ligayang ating mararam-daman sa araw ng pasko kundi ang ligayang maidudulot ng pagtulong sa

ating mga kapwang sinalanta ng bagyo? Si Kristo ay nais manuluyan sa ating mga puso, nawa‘y patuluyin natin siya. Nawa‘y bigyan natin ng puwang ang panawagan na magbahagi ng tulong sa ating mga kababayang biktima ng bagyong Sendong.

Sa ngalan ng mga bumubuo ng SAM-BAYANAN, kami po ay bumabati sa inyo ng MALIGAYANG PASKO at

S even media entries from the Philippines, US, New Zealand, South Korea, and

UAE are this year's recipient of the First Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM)

Awards.

Among the 64 official entries, the seven media works emerged as the best in their respective categories in raising public awareness on issues on Filipino migration, advocating the cause of Filipinos overseas, and promoting a positive image of Filipinos

overseas, and migration and development.

The panel of judges for the MAM Awards is headed by CFO Secretary Imelda M. Nicolas with members from the different migration and media institutions, which include Philippine Migrants Rights Watch, Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, National Commission for Culture and the Arts,

Philippine Information Agency, Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas, National Press Club of the Philippines, International Association of Business Communicators, UP College of Mass Communication, and

M ANILA, Philippines – Filipino fans of Koreanovelas may harbor

fantasies of marrying their Korean Prince Charming someday, but the reality can be quite different from the happy endings they see on

television.

Language barriers, culture shock, and even domestic violence are just some of the challenges facing Filipina brides or so-called "marriage

migrants" when they move to South Korea.

In 2010, an average of 130 Filipino marriage migrants arrived in Korea every month. Most of these marriages between Filipina women

and Korean men are arranged by "marriage brokers" in Korea, despite the fact that this is illegal in Philippines under R.A. 6955 or Anti-Mail

Order Bride Law of 1990.

Statistics from the Korea Immigration Service showed as of April 2011, there are 7,550 Filipino marriage immigrants living in Korea. The Philippines is said to be ranked as the third preferred source of foreign wives of Korean men,

after China and Vietnam.

Many of these Filipina migrants are usually from the provinces and are motivated by financial reasons to seek out arranged marriages with Koreans. They have little information and almost no preparation for their new lives in South Korea, save perhaps

for what they have seen on Koreanovelas.

The Philippine Embassy in South Korea recently came out with a short video that serves as a guide for Filipino marriage migrants or those

planning to marry Korean nationals in Korea.

Directed by Carlos Cruz, the 30-minute video introduces family life culture in Korea and shows experiences and advice of married Filipinos. It also includes a section on how the welfare of Filipino marriage

migrants can be protected in Korea.

Common problems

One of the most common problems between Filipina wives and Korean husbands is the language. Many Filipinas come to Korea with almost no knowledge of Korean, and their Korean husbands often do not

know how to speak English.

"Madalas ang problema ay ang language, kasi di marunong mag-Korean ang Pilipina at hindi rin marunong mag-Ingles ang Koreano, o kung marunong man ay konti lang. Importante ang communication sa mag-asawa, kaya nagkakaroon sila ng problema," said Sister Lucia

Olalia of the Kasan Migrant Center, in the video.

Filipino brides are usually advised to make the effort to learn how to speak and read Korean language and the culture before they come to

South Korea.

Frustrations in the marriage usually lead to domestic violence, Olalia

said.

"Itong domestic violence ay madalas off-shoot ng mga frustrations ng dalawang mag-asawa. Frustrated ang Koreano dahil iba ang kanyang

expectations. Frustrated din ang Pilipina dahil iba ang in-eexpect. Lalo

na yun mga nag-asawa sa agency," she said.

Marie Frenzie Dais, who was married to a Korean, recalled some

problems she had with her husband.

"Yun pag-sasama namin may konting gulo na. Yung asawa ko pag-gabi na umuuwi, laging lasing. Pagdating ng pangatlo kong anak, nung time na buntis ako, nagkagulo kami, doon kami nagumpisang mag-

hiwalay," Dais said.

Irvin Bequillo of the Loving Mothers Center in Daegu said the center has received complaints from Filipina wives who experienced abuse at

the hands of their husbands.

"Ang pangatlong kaso ng mga kababayan natin ay ang pambubugbog ng mga asawa. Sila ay lumalapit sa center upang mailayo sila sa violente nilang asawa. Ang center ay nagproprovide din ng shelter. Pinag-uusap sila kung ano ang pinagtalo ng mag-asawa. Kung di sila magkaka-ayos

ay tutulungan sila sa shelter ng mga madre," Bequillo said.

Another problem is that Korean husbands do not usually give money

to their wives, so the women are forced to find jobs.

"Isa pa sa problema ng kababayan ay di sila binibigyan ng pera ng mga Koreanong asaswa. Ang ginagawa nila ay maghanap ng trabaho,

para matustusan ang pangangailangan pang-araw-araw," said Bequillo.

Valuable advice for happy marriage

While some Filipinas may experience marital problems, there are others who have remained

happily married to Koreans. Fe Kim and Grace Park of the Filipino-Korea Spouses Association shared their advice on how Filipinas can face

these challenges.

"Ang mga mapapayo ko sa mga Pilipino na mag-aasawa ng Koreano, unang-una bago sila pumunta sa Korea, ay mag-aral muna sila ng

Korean language at alamin nila ang kultura sa Korea, kung matanggap

ba nila o hindi, para sa kanilang kapakanan," Kim said.

Park, on the other hand, said it was important for Filipina wives to

understand and respect Korean culture.

"Ang pinakamahalaga ay ang intindihin po natin ang kultura ng ating asawa at unawain at higit sa lahat, ituring na sariling atin ang kultura na yan. We should be very proud of our husband's culture and at the same time, turuan natin ang ating asawa na malaman din ang culture natin,"

Park said.

Kim emphasized the importance of showing the Korean in-laws that

you are willing to work and adapt to their ways.

"You should do the job, kung maghugas ng maraming plato, pag may affair dito, kailangan gawin mo. Di yung mag-feeling Senorita ka. Kailangan kung ano pinagawa sa yo, as long as di ka sinasaktan, you should do it, mula sa puso mo, at marunong ka makisama. Kung asawa ka ng Korean, dapat marunong ka makisama sa mga Koreans, lalo na sa

pamilya niya," she added.

M alaysia-based computer whiz Arlene Teodoro packed his bags and flew

home to the Philippines this year, going against the tide in an impoverished country that sends

millions of workers abroad.

Forced to leave his family and friends in 2008 in search of a decent job overseas, the 35-year-old bachelor says he is back for good because his skills are suddenly in big demand

amid a business process outsourcing boom.

"Nothing compares to being back in the Philippines," said Teodoro, part of a 30-strong computer science class at a Manila university in the early 1990s, most of whose members also

went overseas to find work.

"When I was working abroad I'd use up all my vacation leaves to attend family events and

reconnect with my family."

Teodoro now earns about $3,000 a month as a business intelligence analyst for a US data

mining firm, which uses powerful software to predict such key measures as future sales and

trends for clients.

Big multinationals from aircraft manufacturers to retail chains are increasingly using these sophisticated tools, and the

Philippines and India offer the most cost-efficient locales for such labour-intensive tasks,

he said.

They also, crucially, have large English-

speaking populations.

Data mining is one small part of the outsourcing phenomenon in the Philippines that has emerged from virtually nothing 10 years ago to become one of the country's most

important economic planks and sources of jobs.

The Philippines has for decades suffered an exodus of people who have headed overseas to

escape dire economic conditions, with one quarter of the population currently living on a

dollar a day or less.

Nine million, or 10 percent of all Filipinos, now live overseas, performing low-skilled jobs such as maids and sailors, but also working as

nurses, engineers and IT specialists.

They sent $18.17 billion back to the Philippines last year, equivalent to 10 percent of the country's GDP, and their importance to the nation is such that they have earned the nickname: "Mga Bagong Bayani," or "Modern

Day Heroes".

However the exodus has also led to a massive "brain drain" and caused social disruption as families are torn apart, with one or both parents going overseas and leaving their

children at home with relatives.

But now the rise of outsourcing is giving

many Filipinos a chance to stay at home.

The outsourcing workforce grew about 10 percent this year to 600,000, and is expected to expand to 900,000 employees by 2016,

according to the Business Processing

Association of the Philippines.

More than than 60 percent of the outsourcing jobs are in call centres with Filipinos fielding telephone inquiries from, or selling products to,

customers across the globe.

Although they are the lowest-paid in the sector, an entry-level call centre job still pays between 14,000-20,000 pesos ($325-$465) a

month.

This is roughly equivalent to what a Filipino maid would typically earn in a wealthier Asian country such as Singapore, or a seaman's

starting salary in the global merchant fleet.

The local industry is also increasingly attracting work for higher-paying skills such as data warehousing, accounting and medical transcription, as well as creative work ranging from webpage design to animation and video

games.

"Before, it was the call centre boom in the Philippines, but now it's more of really

specialised skills," said Teodoro.

The Philippines has risen to have the second biggest outsourcing sector in the world behind India partly because it has a huge English-

language workforce.

Filipino workers are also particularly prized in the United States and other Western nations because of their familiarity with their culture, a legacy of the Philippines' history as a former

US colony.

"We have had expats telling us that working with Filipino teams is a very pleasantly unique experience, which they have not had elsewhere in the world," industry association senior executive director Gillian Joyce Virata told

The government has also sought to amplify the country's natural advantages by offering significant tax breaks for outsourcing firms and easing labour laws, such as one that used to bar

women from working past midnight.

The industry association said outsourcing would generate revenues of $11 billion this year, up from $8.9 billion in 2010, and continue to grow by at least 15 percent annually to hit

$20 billion by 2016.

This would place the outsourcing industry's revenues almost on a level with the money sent

home by overseas workers.

"This industry has provided a very big support to the economic environment of the Philippines in the past decade," Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo told an outsourcing forum

recently.

Aside from the direct benefits of employing

people, Domingo credited the industry with a wide range of other knock-on effects such as increased car sales and the explosion of 24-hour

convenience stores.

Outsourcing has also begun to transform

Manila's skyline, with skyscrapers rising to cater to big foreign banks and technology companies that have set up shop with

workforces that run into the tens of thousands.

"The contribution of this industry cannot be

overstated," Domingo said.

The recollection was participated in by the church volunteers and some church-goers. It was an opportunity for all the participants to re-

flect and prepare themselves spiritually for the Christmas Season. While the recollection as going on, an opportunity for them to receive the Sac-

Masakit kapag nawala ang nakasanayang ka-sama, kausap at palaging nakikita. Bakit ba ganyan ang pakiramdam ng tao? Bakit nasasak-tan ang ating kalooban at nalulungkot kung may umaalis? Halimbawa sa magkasintahan na nagkasundong maghihiwalay tila napakahirap tanggapin na hindi na sa iyo ang isang bagay

kapag hindi mo na pag-aari. Bakit kailangang dumanas ng ganito upang matuto? Bakit sadyang napakahirap harapin ang mundo lalo na kapag walang kaaki-

bat na tapang?

Marahil isa ito sa kapamaraanan ng Diyos upang tayo ay hubugin

at dalhin sa landas na Kanyang inihanda para sa atin. Katulad ng batis, malayang dumadaloy ang tubig upang magbi-gay ng buhay sa ka-paligiran. Masarap inu-min ang tubig na ito lalo

pa‘t galing ito sa pusod ng kagubatan. Subalit kapag sumapit na ang tag-araw, maaaring ito

ay huhupa at matutuyo din.

Tayong mga EPS, noong dalhin tayo sa lugar na ito, ang bawat isa ay may kanya-kanyang misyon: ang maiahon ang pamilya sa kahirapan. Tayo man ay nagtitiyaga at nagpapakahirap sa pagtatrabaho dito sa Korea. Minsan nang sumi-kat sa buhay natin ang umaga. Kaya marapat

lamang na huwag nating aksayahin ang bawat sandali. Gumawa tayo ng mabuti at kapaki-pakinabang sa kapwa. Sikaping magkaroon ng kabuluhan ang lahat ng ating ginagawa bago pa

man dumating ang takip-silim ng kapalaran.

Mahabang panahon na rin ang inilagi ko dito sa bansang ito anim na taong pakikipagbuno sa lungkot at pangungulila. Masasabing masu-werte ang makapagtrabaho dito sa Korea sa kabila ng milyon din ang walang maayos na hanap-buhay sa ating bayan at walang makain.

Marami na rin ang may sapat na ipon o nakun-tento na lamang sa nakamit nilang biyaya.

Anu‘t-ano pa man sa huli, tayong lahat ay muling magbabalik sa lupang ating sinilangan,

ang inang bayang Pilipinas.

Nakalulungkot na isipin na ang iba ay wala ng planong bumalik pa sa ating bansa bunsod na rin ng kahirapan kaya naman sila ay nagde-

sisyon na mag ―TNT‖ o ―over stay‖. Gina-galang at nirerespeto ko sila, hindi ko rin sila masisisi sapagkat hindi hamak na mas mainam ang buhay na kanilang tinatamasa sa kasaluku-yan sa kadahilanang mas malaki ang kinikita nila dito upang matustusan at masuportahan

ang pangangailangan ng kani-kanilang pamilya.

Isang taon pa bago magtapos ang aking kon-trata tinanong ko sa aking sarili na tumulad kaya ako sa kanila? Pinagnilayan kong mabuti ito at napag isip-isip ko na sapat na ang pagpa-

palang ibinigay sa akin ng Diyos at maaring sa ibang bayan naman ako pagpalain kaya marapat lamang na ibahagi ko naman ang pagkakataong makapagtrabaho sa bansang ito doon sa mga

kababayan nating hindi pa nakararating dito. Sa kabilang banda nahihirapan na ang ating gobyerno na makipagtransaksiyon sa iba‘t ibang bansa upang magkaroon ng magandang

trabaho katulad dito sa bansang korea subalit kapag nag ―TNT‖ ako hindi kaya masira o ma-balewala ang pinaghirapan ng mga namumuno sa atin? At makadagdag pa ako sa pinuprob-

lema ng ating bansa?

Oo nga‘t malaki ang naiaambag natin sa pamamagitan ng ―remittance‖ subalit ano na-man ang maaaring maging negatibong dulot nito? Kung itutuloy ko ang aking kagustuhan marami din ang mawawala sa akin na naka-sanayan ko na! (ngunit kailangan kong pumili)

Maaaring hindi ko na mabibili ang mga bagay na gusto kong bilhin. Hindi ako natatakot na maghirap sapagkat lumaki naman ako sa hirap at sanay na sa hirap. Masaya na rin ako kahit papaano dahil naranasan ko ang maginhawang

pamumuhay sa sandali ng aking buhay.

Ilang taon ko na ring hindi namatiyagan o nasubaybayan ang aking mga anak isang bagay na masasabi kong ―panalong talo‖ panalo sa-pagkat may malaking kita. At talo naman dahil

mahabang panahon ang hindi ko sila nakitang lumalaki na kasama ako, kalaro, kakuwentuhan at katabi sa pagtulog. Ayaw ko din naman na lumaki sila ng walang paggabay ng isang ama. Minsan lang silang daraan sa pagkabata kaya hindi ko maatim na mapalampas na hindi ako naging kabahagi, tatay na magpoprotekta at magtatanggol sa kanila. Isang bagay na nagpati-

bay upang hindi ako magdalawang isip na bu-malik sa ating bayan upang dugtungan at ipala-sap ang aking pagmamahal kapalit ng malaking

kita.

Sa aking pagbabalik masasabi kong bitbit ko ang karangalan at tagumpay. Karangalan dahil nakapaghanap-buhay ako dito kahit sa maiksing panahon. Tagumpay naman dahil sa nalam-pasan ko ang mga pagsusulit at kumpleto ang

bawat bahagi ng aking katawan na hindi napin-

sala at nagkaroon ng magandang kondisyon sa pakikibaka sa loob ng

anim na taon.

Nagpapasalamat din ako sa pagkakataong mamu-hay dito ng pansamantala. Dahil dito marami akong napulot na aral patungkol sa buhay. Natuto at na-pag-aralan ko rin ang

maging mahinahon sa abot ng aking makakaya, natutong umunawa sa kapwa, magbigay, mag-pahalaga, gumalang at rumispeto. Higit sa lahat natutunan ko rin na magkaroon ng pagkakun-

tento sa aking katawan sa biyayang ipinagkatiwala sa akin ng Panginon na kung ano ang meron ako

at kung hanggang saan lamang ang limitasyon

na ibinahaging pagpapala at bigyang halaga.

Masasabi kong ako ay naging matatag sa kabila ng aking kahinaan. Matapang sapagkat sinuong ko ang maraming hamon na mahirap desisyunan. May isang salita, matibay na panin-indigan, pananaw at kaakibat na prinsipyo

alang-alang sa aking mga anak na nauuhaw sa aking pagkalinga at pagmamahal sa kanila. Kaytulin ng pag-ikot ng mundo, patuloy na bumibilang ang mga araw. Ilang pasko na ba ang lumipas na hindi natin sila nakapiling? Sa huli nasa atin pa rin ang pagdedesisyon kung sino o ano ang ating pahahalagahan. Hindi naman hadlang ang kahirapan upang ipalasap

ang ating pagmamahal sa kanila. Ang estado ng buhay ay hindi pamantayan upang magkaroon

ng masayang pamilya.

I. Worthy Is the Lamb A. The Titles of Jesus

Jesus is given many titles in Scripture. He is called "the Anointed" (see Acts 4:26)

and "the Christ" (see Acts 3:20). Frequently he is referred to as "Lord," "Master," "Teacher."

He is called "Lion of Judah" (Revelation 5:5), "High Priest" (see Hebrews 3:1), "Son of

God" (see Mark 1:11), and "King of the Jews" (see Mark 15:2; 15:26).

Such titles acknowledge Jesus as God, King, and head of the Church in heaven and on earth.

But in the Bible‘s final book, he is called - no less than 28 times - the Lamb: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength, honor and

glory and blessing" (Revelation 5:12). It is a very curious description. In a way, it is

the opposite of the other titles used to describe Jesus. While the other titles connote power and majesty, His description as a "Lamb" calls to mind weakness, powerlessness.

But it reflects a basic belief found in the New Testament - a belief that we continue to profess in each Mass.

Every time we celebrate the Eucharist, the priest prays: "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. Happy are those who are called to His supper."

These words combine two verses from Scrip-ture: John the Baptist‘s description of Jesus (see John 1:29,36), and the angel‘s words about the heavenly feast in the Bible‘s last book (see

Revelation 19:9).

B. The Lamb of God Why do we call Him a Lamb? Because of all the many sacrifices the Israel-

ites offered, one in particular stood out as the most important sacrifice on the calendar: the Passover, which celebrated Israel‘s deliverance from bondage in Egypt (see Exodus 12).

Central to the celebration of the Passover was the sacrifice of an unblemished lamb, and the eating of its roasted flesh.

As we will see in this lesson, in calling Jesus the Lamb, the New Testament wants to call to mind this Old Testament sacrifice.

The image of Jesus as the Lamb expresses

the Christian belief that in His death on the cross, Jesus was offered in sacrifice - as the lamb was sacrificed by the Israelite families before the Exodus.

In professing that Jesus is the lamb of God in our celebration of the Eucharist, we are recall-ing His sacrificial death on the cross. But more than that, we are, as we will see, "re-presenting" that sacrifice.

II. Jesus, the Final and Perfect Sac-

rifices A. Jesus and Isaac

The New Testament sees Jesus as the Lamb of a new Passover.

But more than that, the New Testament pre-sents His sacrifice on the cross as the final and perfect sacrifice that all the sacrifices of the Bible point to and look forward to.

As we noted in our last lesson, in the story of

the "binding" of Isaac, the New Testament writers saw a foreshadowing God‘s offering of his only beloved Son on the Cross (see Genesis 22:12,15; John 3:16).

And it‘s not hard to find parallels in the two events:

A father sacrifices his only beloved son. After Ishmael was banished to the wilderness

(see Genesis 21:9-14), Isaac was Abraham‘s only hope of posterity - "your son Isaac, your only one, whom you love" (see Genesis 22:2).

The Gospel of John uses the same language to describe the offering of Jesus. "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son" (see John 3:16).

The Book of Hebrews says that Abraham

was ready "to offer his only son" and that he had faith that God would raise Isaac from the dead (Hebrews 11:17-19).

The And it is interesting, isn‘t it, that Isaac is "on the third day," Isaac was rescued from death (see Genesis 22:4).

The victim carries the wood for his own sac-rifice. In addition to the parallel of a father

offering his only son in the hope of resurrec-tion, there are other parallels to point out.

Abraham took the wood for the holocaust and laid it on his son Isaac‘s shoulders (Genesis 22:6).

Jesus also is depicted as "carrying the cross himself" (see John 19:17), although, weakened by brutal beatings, he was unable to bear the weight of it the whole way (see Mark 15:21).

The victim goes willingly to his own sacri-fice. Although in artwork, Isaac is often por-trayed as a young boy, Jewish and Christian commentators pointed out that Isaac could not have been an unwilling victim.

He was a strong young man who could carry enough wood for a large sacrifice, and Abra-ham was well over a hundred years old. If Isaac

had resisted at all, Abraham would not have been able to overcome him.

Like Christ, they believed, Isaac made him-self an offering to God, as Jesus freely laid down his own life (see John 10:18) in obedi-ence to His Father‘s will (Mark 14:36).

The sacrifice is in the mountains of Moriah. God told Abraham to "go to the land of

Moriah" and sacrifice Isaac "on a height that I will point out to you" (Genesis 22:2). Ancient tradition held that Solomon built the Temple on the spot where Abraham sacrificed

Isaac (see 2 Chronicles 3:1). The place where Abraham was willing to

offer his own son became the place where God‘s people made all their offerings.

Golgatha, outside of Jerusalem, is also asso-ciated with the mount of Moriah. And there God himself offered His own Son.

God himself provides the victim for the sacri-fice. When Isaac asked his father, "where is the sheep for the holocaust?" Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the sheep for the holocaust" (Genesis 22:7-8).

He turned out to be right: when God‘s angel had stopped him from sacrificing Isaac, Abra-ham found a ram ready to be sacrificed instead (see Genesis 22:10-13).

For the final sacrifice, God provided as the new Lamb - His only Son. As Paul said: He "did not spare His own Son but handed Him over for us all" (see Romans 8:32).

As we saw in the previous lesson, the binding of Isaac was a kind of pattern for the later sac-rifice of the Passover, where once again a lamb took the place of the beloved firstborn son.

And, as we‘ll see, the New Testament writers were also careful to point out how closely the death of Jesus paralleled the Passover sacrifice.

B. Jesus the Passover Lamb "For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacri-

ficed" (1 Corinthians 5:7). From the very beginning, Christians have

seen Christ‘s death on the cross as the final Passover sacrifice. In most of the languages Christians speak, the word for Easter comes from the root pasch-, which comes from the Hebrew word for Passover. (English is the rare exception: our word Easter comes from an old

pagan spring festival.) That‘s why we continue to call Jesus the

"Lamb of God," and that‘s why Christ appears as a Lamb in the symbolic visions of Revela-tion.

The Gospel writers point out obvious paral-lels to show us that Christ is the definitive Pass-over sacrifice:

The trial and execution of Jesus took place during the Passover festival (see Luke 22:1-2). All four Gospel writers take care to note the setting.

John gives us the added detail that Pilate handed Jesus over to be crucified at "about noon" on the day of preparation (see John 19:14-16).

John, the only one of the Gospel writers to note this detail, had priestly connections (see John 18:16, where John is "the other disciple" who knew the high priest).

He knew very well that the priests began to slaughter the Passover lambs at the sixth hour (that is, at noon) on the day of preparation. Clearly he means to show us that Jesus is the

Passover Lamb being led to the slaughter. None of Jesus’ bones were broken. The sol-

diers had intended to break the legs of all the crucified criminals to make them die faster. But Jesus was already dead when the soldiers came to Him (see John 19:31-36). One of the soldiers pushed a lance into His side to make sure. His bones were not broken.

The fact is so significant to John that he feels

M arami ng tag-lamig ang aking sinuong sa mga nakalipas na taon. Ilang beses

na ring napagmasdan ang pagsapit ng tag-lagas at tag-sibol. Marami na rin ang nawala sa ating mga kasamahan na naglilingkod sa simbahan. Ito na naman… muling nakikipagbuno sa naka-papasong lamig. Naaaliw sa tuwing pagbagsak

ng niyebe. Subalit kailangan pa rin nating mag-patuloy para sa Kanya. Nakalulungkot isipin na sa tuwing nagiging yelo na ang niyebe sa ka-paligiran ay lumalamig na rin ang ating paglil-ingkod. Sa pagpatak ng niyebe ay siya rin pag-bagsak ng ilan, isa lamang sa mga talinghaga na inilarawan ni Kristo sa Bibliya. ―Isang binhi na hinasik sa batuhan, ito ay tumubo subalit hindi

namunga dahil sa kakulangan ng tubig upang

mabuhay―.

Isang halimbawa na ako mismo ang tina-

maan. Minsan pa na nakipag-usap ako sa Diyos sa pamamagitan ng pagbabasa ng Bibliya, isang paraan ng pakikipag-unayan at upang madama ang Kanyang presenya. Muli ay ipinaalaala ang mga bagay na ipinagkaloob sa akin upang mag-patuloy. Hindi lamang marapat na ito ay basa-hin ng basahin, ibig ng Diyos na ito man din ay isabuhay at ibahagi sa iba na tila pagkain. Tu-

nay nga na ang salita ng Panginoon ay parang balaraw na may magkaparehong talim sa mag-kabilang gilid na walang sinasanto at walang kinikilala, ang lahat ay maaaring mahiwa at masugatan. Napahinuhod ako at nahihiya sa Kanya dahil sa kabila ng lahat ng biyaya na natatanggap ko buhat sa Kanya ito ang aking isinukli, ang pagpapabaya o pagka-abala sa

iba‘t ibang mga gawain. Sabi nga sa Banal na aklat ―kung Ako ang inyong uunahin ipagkaka-loob ko ang mga bagay na inyong maibigan―. Sa tagpong ito marami akong hinihiling sa Kanya ngunit hindi para sa akin kundi para sa mga kaibigan at kakilala na naniniwala at nagti-tiwala na humuhingi ng panalangin para sa kanila.. Paano kaya makakaabot ang aking

panalangin kung ako mismo ay mayroong pag-

kukulang?

Ang tubig ay malaking bagay sa pang araw-

araw nating pangangailangan. Ito ay malambot na halos hindi niya tayo kayang saktan dahil sa banayad na dampi sa katawan. Subalit kapag ito ay naging yelo at nag-anyo sa matulis na bagay maaaring makapanakit at makamatay. Katulad ng ―wika‖ na nakapagbibigay kagalakan sa puso ng isang tao kapag maganda ang papuring

natatanggap. Nakasasakit naman na parang isang panudla na pantarak at tumitimo sa ating damdamin. Isang wika na aking ininda kaya naman panandalian akong napabagsak na nag-

dulot sa akin ng panghihina. Halimbawa ng isang kapirasong kahoy na kahit babad sa tubig hindi kaagad magniningas sa apoy subalit kung lumabis na sa pagkakadarang, ito man din ay magliliyab. Masasabi kong ang apoy na lumala-bas sa bibig ng isang payaso ay tunay na ma-panganib. Kung hindi natin ito makakayang malampasan ay kayang sunugin nito ang kum-

piyansa ninuman.

Ngunit kung ang kapayapaan ang ating han-gad at mamumutawi sa atin ang kahinahunan

nakagagawa tayo ng paraan upang mapaglaba-nan ng hindi gumagamit ng anumang dahas. Aking napagtanto sa huli, bakit nga ba ako magpapaapekto sa ganoong mga tao. Dapat na isiping kung may taong nakapanakit sa ating kalooban, hindi kailangan na bigyan ng pansin o isipin na tayo ay kanilang pinababagsak. Itanim sa isip na tayo ay kanilang tinutulungan

upang mas palakasin pa at binibigyan ng pag-kakataon na lalo pang lumaban sa hamon ng mga pagsubok sa buhay. Nang maisip ko ito, natawa na lamang ako sabay tanong sa aking

sarili, ―Ako ba ay talunan‖?

Mainam din na ang init sa tag-araw ay panatilihin sa panahon ngayon na tila isang tinta ng printer na maaaring i-refill. Parang panggatong na kailangan ipunin sa imbakan habang nasa kasagsagan ng tag-araw. Upang sa panahon ng tag-ulan ay mayroon tayong maga-

gamit na pampaningas nang sa gayon hindi mapawi ang apoy ng pag-ibig ni Kristo sa ating puso. Noong tawagin ako ng Panginoon upang maglingkod sa Kanyang banal na ubasan, wala siyang piniling panahon. Marapat lamang na wala rin nakatakdang panahon kung kailan lamang natin gustong maglingkod sa Kanya. Dahil marami ang dapat na anihin sa Kanyang

sakahan subalit kakaunti lamang ang mag-aani

dito.

Ang alon ng tubig sa karagatan ay walang

humpay na hinihipan ng hangin na tila pinasa-sayaw upang bigyan ng buhay. Katulad ng hangin wala rin puknat sa pagpasok sa ating katawan upang mabuhay. Isang simpleng halimbawa na dapat kong tandaan na bawal ang mapagod sa paglilingkod. Ang pag-aaral sa mga salita ng Diyos ay napakahirap unawain na parang pumapasok sa butas ng karayom.

Marami ang mga matatalinong tao at propesyo-nal na magagaling sa iba‘t-ibang larangan. Subalit ang mga talinghaga sa Banal na aklat ay inilihim ng Diyos upang sila ay hiyain gaya ng mga eskriba at pariseo. Si Jesus mismo ang nagpahayag nito sa harap ng mga tao noong kapanahunan. Bagamat masasabing dalubhasa

subalit ligaw ang kanilang kaalaman. Hindi nila nababatid na ang katalinuhan ay magkaiba sa karunungan. Kung palagiang inuunawa ang gintong-aral na ibinilin ni Kristo unti-unti itong

mauunawaan kung hahanapin Siya ng buong

puso.

―Ang Karunungan ay di papasok sa may masamang kalooban, at di nananahan sa pusong alipin ng kasalanan―(Karunungan ni Solomon 1:4) Hindi maiiwasan kung minsan ang madapa o pansamantalang huminto, subalit sa ating pagkakatigil at kapag humakbang muli hindi ba mas malakas na ang puwersang ating gagamitin upang mabilis muling makausad? Kahit aandap-andap ang pananampalataya, kung patuloy

naman ang pagtalima at pagsunod ng may ka-babaang-loob, sa huli ito ay magliliyab na parang sunog dahil nakasanayan at malalim na ang pagkaka-ugat kay Kristo. Ang lamig ng yelo ay maaring mawawala sapagkat ang mang-ingibabaw ay ang pag-ibig sa Diyos. Sa ban-dang huli masasabing nakamit mo ang pagla-

gablab sa lamig ng niyebe.

compelled to assure us that "an eyewitness has testified, and his testimony is true: he knows

that he is speaking the truth, so that you also may [come to] believe" (John 19:35).

Just to make sure we get the point, John tells us that "this happened so that the scripture pas-sage might be fulfilled: ‗Not a bone of it will be broken‘ " (John 19:36).

The "scripture" he refers to is in the instruc-tions for preparing the Passover lamb: "You

shall not break any of its bones" (Exodus 12:46; see also Numbers 9:12 and Psalm 34:20).

A hyssop branch with a sponge soaked in sour wine was lifted up to Jesus on the cross (see John 19:29). Hyssop branches were used for sprinkling the blood of the Passover lamb (see Exodus 12:22).

But Jesus was not only the sacrificial victim.

The sacrifice was not offered by the soldiers who beat and killed Jesus: they intended only to kill a man, not to offer a sacrifice.

No, it was Jesus Christ who offered himself as the sacrifice. As our High Priest (see He-brews 3:1), Jesus "handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma" (Ephesians 5:2).

Paul‘s words remind us of Exodus 29:18, where the sacrifice is being offered to conse-crate Aaron‘s sons as priests.

What Paul intends to convey is that Christ is at once the Lamb offered in sacrifice and the High Priest who offers that sacrifice. To be continued …

O ftentimes, I took Your blessings for granted and Lord, forgive me...those were the lines I remember I uttered after winning the ―Best Con-

cept Award‖ in a recent singing contest held two weeks ago.

Let me start by sharing you this way. I‘m not into any competition but since I and the rest of the blessed ladies of El Shaddai Prayer Partners wanted to support Bro. Tony, we came up with this concept of helping him in a way we can. At first, I was so excited since I saw the enthusiasm

from them. In one week, we were able to gather every evening to practice and to exchanged ideas and I have to admit, since I was the youngest from the younger ones, I need to bring a bag of patience to sustain my inmost being. I wanted to quit but every time I felt l ike doing that, God will

whisper to me. And so I stayed and prayed a lot.

In that one week, I saw their tired body but still with glowing faces every gathering. Oftentimes being tagged as the ―old fashioned and conserva-tive ones,‖ little did everyone know, they were so cool and fun. You can see the joy that can‘t be bought from Dongdaemun stores or Migliore.

Even though arguments would rise up sometimes, we were able to manage and agreed with each other. I must admit, I learned from them.

On the day of the singing contest, I kept still and prayed and asked everyone to pray for us as well. It was not because we wanted to win, since we decided to just enjoy. It was because in my heart, I wanted them to shine for God. And to God be the glory, because they did. And even they

were the last participants to be called, it‘s worth waiting for.

For God, age doesn‘t matter, even if they dance by their own step and move to their own tune, it‘s the heart that matters most.

―T hen Peter came to Jesus and asked, ―Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?‖

Jesus answered, ―I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times….‖ Matthew 18:21-35

How does the Bible describe God’s love?

The parable Jesus gave in this gospel clearly illustrate how much God loved us.

1. GOD’S LOVE IS FORGIVING

(Isaiah 1:18) ―Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are

red as crimson, they shall be like wool.‖

(Romans 3:23) ―For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.‖

(Ephesians 2:3-5) ―All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even

when we were dead in transgressions- it is by grace you have been saved.

In Luke 15:1-7, we may be able to understand a God who forgives sinners who come to him for mercy. But a God who tenderly searches for sin-ners and then joyfully forgives them must possess an extra-ordinary love. This is the kind of love that prompted Jesus to come to earth to search for

lost people and save them. This is the kind of extra ordinary love that God has for you. If you feel far from God, don‘t despair. He is searching for

you.

2. GOD’S LOVE IS SACRIFICIAL

In John 3:16, the entire gospel came to a focus in this verse. God‘s love is not static or self centered; it reaches out and draws others in. Here God sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all love relationships – when you love someone dearly. You are willing to pay dearly for that person‘s

responsive love.

3. GOD’S LOVE IS INEXHAUSTIBLE

(Psalms 136:1-26) ―Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever….‖

Repeated throughout this Psalm is the phrase, ―His faithful love endures forever.‖ The repetition made this important lesson sink in. God‘s love includes aspects of love, kindness, mercy and faithfulness. We never have to worry that God will run out of love, because it flows from a well that

will never run dry. God‘s love is new every morning.

4. GOD’S LOVE IS ETERNAL AND BEYOND MEASURE

(Romans 8:38-39) ―For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels, nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How do we know when a person is in love? Obviously, when we observe somebody ―blooming,‖ when someone starts to be con-scious about his/her physical looks, when you see someone always happy, inspired, has a

positive aura, or ―nagniningning o nangungusap ang mga mata‖ as we say it, we definitely say

that a person is in love.

Definitely, it is very easy to know whether one is in love or not. But how do we know when one is in love with God? It might not be

that evident and obvious.

Let me remind you of the distinct characteris-tics of God‘s love for you. God loves you PER-SONALLY, God loves you UNCONDITION-ALLY, and God loves you with an EVER-LASTING and UNLIMITED love. ―I have

loved you with an everlasting love.‖ (Jer. 3:31)

GOD’S LOVE IS PERSONAL

―Behold, I have carved you on the palms of my hands…‖ (Isaiah 49:16). The reassuring words of the Prophet Isaiah remind us that God

loves us personally and he cares about the small details in our life. We are carved on the palm of his hands…this makes our relationship with him so personal and intimate. That is why he desires to be good for us even more than we

desire for ourselves.

GOD’S LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL

God does not say ―I love you, if…,‖ ―I love you but…,‖ he says ―I love you!‖ (PERIOD!!!), no if‘s no but‘s!!!! God does not put any condi-tion on his love for us. ―Nothing can separate us from the love of God, neither death nor life.‖ (Rom. 8:38-39). There is nothing we can

do to earn God‘s love because he first loved us.

GOD’S LOVE IS ETERNAL

God‘s love for us was manifested even unto the cross. ―But God Demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinner,

Christ died for us.‖ (Rom. 5:8)

God loves us just the way we are, but He loves us so much that He refuses to leave us just the way we are…His desires for us is to be like Jesus. In Philippians 2:3-5 it says, ―Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as

more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal in-terests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also

in Christ Jesus.‖

God‘s love is a TRANSFORMING LOVE

and God‘s grace is a TRANSFORMING

GRACE.

There are three (3) ways we can do to be more

like Jesus:

1. You must open your mind to God’s power. Initially, you need to change the way you think, then change the way you feel, later change the way you act, then

finally open your mind to what God can do

to your life.

2. Open your heart to God’s grace. Grace is

the power that God gives us to make the

changes that we can’t make on our own.

God knows us and he knows what makes

us….he watches every moment of our

life..as we were formed in the womb…first

breath..he knows the good, the bad and the ugly..BUT he still loves us uncondition-

ally..that’s called GRACE. He knows what’

s best for us..even when we don’t know

what’s best..He knows best

3. You must open your life to God’s love.

No one will ever love us more than God. He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus Christ. You have to experience the love of God and then you will be transformed. He keeps his arms wide open when we return

to him in reconciliation.

How does God’s love transform us?

1. God’s love brings forgiveness. Ephesians 4:32 says, ―And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even

as God in Christ forgave you.‖

2. God’s love removes condemnation. Ro-

mans 8:1 says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ

Jesus, who do not walk according to the

flesh, but according to the Spirit"

3. God’s love is full of mercy. God's love is

rich in mercy, full of kindness, compassion and forbearance and does not treat us ac-

cording to what we deserve…. He did not

just forgive us our sins; He conferred spiri-

tual blessings upon us through Jesus Christ.

4. God’s love brings emotional healing.

"Come unto Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" (Matthew 11:28-

29)

5. God’s love inspires us to love others. "By

this all will know that you are My disciples,

if you have love for one another" (John

13:14)

6. God’s love releases faith. "For in Christ

Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumci-sion has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through

love" (Galatians 5:6)

We should always remember that:

God’s love is PERSONAL

God’s love is UNCONDITIONAL

God’s love is ETERNAL

God loves us “the way we are” BUT He

cannot leave us there

He wants us to change/transform to be more

like Jesus

Open our mind to God’s power, open our

hearts to God’s grace, open our life to God and

allow God’s grace to change and transform us-

to be like Jesus

MINIMUM WAGE IN 2011 IS

The rate will apply to all the business and workplaces across the nation for one year from

January 1st, 2011.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor de-

cided to confirm the minimum wage per hour at 4,320 won for the year 2011 and plans to

promulgate it as of August 3, 2010.

This is after the Minimum Wage Commis-sion concluded to raise the minimum wage per hour by 5.1% from 4,110 won this year to 4,320 won on July 3, 2010 (refer to Labor To-day No. 704) and the Ministry made the rate

public for ten days from July 9 to gather differ-ent opinions but didn‘t receive any objection

from the labor and management sides.

The rate will apply to all the business and workplaces across the nation from January 1st to December 31st, 2011 without any regional and occupational difference. However, it does-n‘t apply to family business hiring only family members, housework employees, and seamen

and ship owners.

As the rate is set at 4,320 won per hour, daily minimum wage is 34,560 won (8-hour work), monthly minimum wage is 902,880 won and 976,320 won under 40-hour workweek and 44-hour workweek respectively. The minimum wage only includes basic pay and fixed allow-ances which are paid regularly, but overtime

pay, annual and monthly leave allowance, housing allowance, meal allowance, etc. are not

included.

On the other hand, the minimum wage can cut down to 90% of the normal level for a pro-bationary worker. It can further go down to 80% for workers of surveillance or intermittent job such as a security guard, janitor, facility

manager, etc. after their employer obtained an approval from the Minister of Employment and

Labor.

Procedure on Date of Appointment:

Step 1:

Check your name on the list of applicants

with appointment

Complete all information on the passport

application form

Wait for your name and number to be called

at Window 4

Submit the application form and present your

old Passport and photocopies

OPTIONAL : If you wish to avail of the courier service, get a courier form and write your name and complete return address. Get a copy of the courier form. Payment will be made upon delivery of your ePassport. Have your old passport canceled by the consular

officer.

Step 2:

Go to cashier and pay the exact amount of US$ 60.00 in cash. No check may be

accepted

Keep your receipt and show it when you

claim your ePassport in person after 6 weeks.

Step 3:

Go to the encoder for encoding of data, picture taking, taking of thumb marks and digital signature. Applicant should be in

decent attire. Both ears should be shown

Keep your receipt of payment and bring your old passport for cancellation to claim your ePassport. You can also authorize a representative to claim your passport by giving authority at the back of y o u r

claim receipt.

NOTE:

It takes about six (6) weeks to process the

ePassport as the approved applications are

sent to a central processing facility in the

Philippines.

UPDATE FROM THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY OAV Registration Ongoing at the Philippine Embassy

Filipinos in South Korea who intend to vote here for the senatorial and party-list elections in May 2013 are reminded to register as overseas absentee voters at the Philippine Embassy in

Seoul.

Registration started on 2 November 2011 and will continue until 31 October 2012. Registra-tion is available from Monday to Friday during regular office hours, except during declared holidays. Filipinos may also register every first and third Sunday of the month, coinciding with

the special service for passport renewals in the morning.

―Although the registration period is for one year, I encourage everyone to register early and not to wait until the last minute to have their names included in the roster of those eligible to

vote in 2013,‖ said Amb. Luis Cruz.

―This will prevent potential problems associated with rushed applications,‖ he added.

Registrants only need to present a valid proof of Philippine citizenship, such as a passport. Those who intend to change their voting places in 2013, such as those returning for good to the

Philippines, can also have their records transferred by the Philippine Embassy.

Mobile registration services, done alongside with mobile passport services, to other parts of

South Korea will be announced later on.

A child born in the Republic of Korea with Filipino parent/s should be reported to the Philip-pine Embassy in Seoul , not later twelve (12) months from the date of birth, for transmittal to the Office of the Civil Registrar-General, National Statistics Office (NSO), Manila. Report of the birth of a child after one year is considered late and an Affidavit of Late Registration shall

be required.

Requirements for ROB

1.Duly accomplished ROB form in 4 original copies

2.Birth Certificate issued by the Korean hospital where child was born ( with English transla-

tion)

3.If child is legitimate, marriage contract of parents. If marriage was in the Philippines, mar-riage contract must be authenticated by NSO. If abroad, copy of Report of Marriage duly

received by the Philippine Embassy with jurisdiction to register the marriage.

4.If not married, NSO authenticated birth certificate of mother. If the surname of the father will be used, Affidavit of Admission of Paternity and Authority to use surname of Father will be required from the father. Republic Act 9255 allows illegitimate children to use the surname of

their father. (Notarization fee of affidavit is Won 33,550)

5.Valid passports/ travel documents of the parents

6.If parent/s are naturalized Filipino/s, naturalization documents are required

7.If reporting is done after twelve (12) months from occurrence, Affidavit of Late Registration

of Birth. (Notarization fee of affidavit is Won 33,550)

8.Consular Fee: Won 33,550

Processing period: two (2) working days

Original documents will be required upon processing together with four (4) photocopies. Photocopy of a document will be accepted provided they are authenticated/ certified true copy

(CTC) by DFA or the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate.

The Consulate may require additional requirements , if necessary.

NEW REQUIREMENT FOR FILIPINOS MARRYING FOREIGNERS

Effective 04 July 2011, Filipinos applying for a Legal Capacity to Marry a Foreigner or a Report of Marriage to a Foreigner are required to watch a short video presentation on the situa-tion of Filipino spouses in South Korea. The Embassy will release the documents only after the applicants have seen the video, which talks about life in South Korea and lasts for only twenty

(20) minutes.

The video is part of the Embassy‘s educational / awareness campaign to help marriage mi-grants to South Korea. The video covers the family culture in South Korea, including stories about the experiences of other Filipinos and advice to ensure the welfare of Filipino nationals

married to foreigners.

The applicant may choose from the following weekly schedule:
