Gaylord Hotels desired to expand its brand into new markets, selecting HBG to create the design for its Four Diamond Orlando resort. Sited on 60 acres directly outside the gates of Walt Disney World, Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center is the only facility in the area to combine hotel, convention and entertainment amenities under one roofÐ and it’s not your typical roof either. The project’s signature feature, a four-and-a-half-acre, glass-covered, climate-controlled atrium soars over the resort, creating an enclosed Florida destination-themed entertainment experience with restaurants, retail and attractions. The 1,400-room resort was voted as the Best Resort Hotel in the State of Florida by Florida Monthly magazine for seven years in a row.

HBG is one of the few architecture firms to own, operate and develop our own four-star hotel: a highly successful Westin hotel located within the thriving Beale Street entertainment district. It’s our experiential laboratory for operational efficiency and guest expectations.

we know what it takes to operate a competitive hospitality property.

A Starwood Resorts brand, this upscale Westin Hotel is strategically positioned to capture revenues from Beale Street and the adjacent FedEx Forum NBA Arena. Located on a compact 1.6-acre urban site, the nine-story glass and metal tower is designed as a landmark building to complement, yet stand out among neighboring historic buildings. Inside, sleek, modern, organic design elevates the hotel within the competitive downtown market to meet the upscale needs of guests.

OUR EXPERIENCE HAS INFORMED OUR PHILOSOPHY THAT GREAT DESIGN MUST ALWAYS SUPPORT THE CLIENT’S BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY.

“IT’S A VERY GOOD REPRESENTATION OF THE BRAND FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE. THE ARCHITECTURE, IN ITS LOCATION, IS SUCH A NICE URBAN EXPRESSION IN THE WAY IT FITS

WITH THE GIBSON BUILDING AND FEDEX FORUM. IT REALLY CREATES A PLACE.” Nancy Keyes, Senior Director of Project Management for Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc.

The Seven Clans Hotel at Coushatta Resort adds a 7-story, 401-room hotel to the Coushatta Tribe’s existing resort. The lobby’s artful marriage of scale, color, texture and pattern create a welcoming environment that meets diverse guest needs. Natural stone, warm, rich woods and fresh colors accent the lobby’s Bar 7 cocktail bar and PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans coffee shop.

DELIVERING YOUR VALUES AT EVERY POINT OF CONTACTOur experience has given us opportunities to work with clients to help define, refine and strengthen their brand and its expression through distinctive design. When establishing brand identity within our clients’ projects, we begin by understanding their values and then make sure the property design delivers those values at every point of contact. A brand isn’t just what is communicated through identity and message – it is what our client’s properties and service reveal to the guest.

As the second brand extension for Gaylord Hotels, Gaylord Texan features 1,500 rooms inside an all-inclusive, resort destination that rivals major convention players in cities from Chicago to Las Vegas. The 1.2 million SF hotel and convention center resort’s signature brand element, the glass atrium, bears a Texas-sized star visible to planes flying overhead. Inside the four acre atrium, lush gardens and waterscapes celebrate three distinct regions of Texas: the Hill Country, the Lone Star and the Riverwalk. The $500 million project has received much recognition since its opening, including Americas Lodging Investment Summit’s (ALIS) Development of the Year.

experiencing & elevating the brand

This high-energy 12,000 SF Hard Rock venue pulls patrons in with an eye-catching LED-lit guitar ceiling entry feature, and was designed to work synergistically with the resort’s new 1,500 seat event center. Wooden textures, stacked stone and warm colors were mixed with pops of red, hot pink and sparkling mosaic to distinguish the brand, while integrating it with the “rustic-modern” aesthetic of the resort property.

A renovation of two existing buildings at the corner of Bourbon St. and D’Iberville, HBG’s design of the new 10,000 SF Hard Rock Cafe New Orleans is distinctly Southern Gothic in theme. The new venue design blends this historic river city’s iconic, eclectic culture with the high-energy, world renowned Hard Rock Cafe brand. From the bold colors in the porcelain tiled floor to the larger than life custom-made beer bottle chandelier over the bar, this restaurant is truly one -of-a-kind for the brand.

integrated architecture & interiorsHBG’s design team specializes in the interpretation of our clients’ visions into environments that express image and style through form, materials, texture, light, sound and color. It is through architecture and interior design that we articulate the special nuances that make a property unique.

Our dynamic network of interior design professionals and interior architects work collaboratively and strategically to deliver innovation and experience to our clients. At HBG, we believe architecture and interior design need to remain connected. In terms of the guest experience, it is impossible to separate the design of a building from the design of its interior - so we approach design as an integrated process that is all encompassing of the human experience.

The inspiration for the new upscale resort expansion design at WinStar World captures the excitement and wonder of faraway voyages in the gilded age of travel. The fresh new design features literal themed elements set within the context of a refined interpretation of the European cities of Paris and Madrid, with some Asian influences, creating an elegant and timeless look for the new 18-story, 500-room WinStar hotel.

Designed to be the premier sports bar and grill in the area, the new GameDay Sports Bar & Grille at Sycuan provides large format monitors for “in-the-action” sports viewing and is complemented by sports-centric design materials and elements. Key to the design are a more unified gaming and food and beverage experience, enhanced views and better circulation to all key amenities.

design to market needsGood design comes from being savvy about operational trends, guest experiences, and investment expectations. We know that the smarter the thinking behind the design, the more viable and sustainable the property’s success. We believe it’s not only important that building projects represent good design, but that they are also strategically positioned in the marketplace. By utilizing market information, customer demographics, and other factors that influence the programming, planning and design of your project, we are able to blend the spirit and originality of your “signature” with your business objectives, translating these into architectural designs that embrace functionality, financial performance, marketability and of course, guest-pleasing aesthetics.
