Welcome friends and supporters,Thank you for attending the 11th annual Salute to the Sound in celebration of Puget Soundkeeper Alliance’s 30th anniversary. Your support is absolutely essential to ensuring a healthy Puget Sound. Together, we are making a real diff erence by tackling diffi cult water pollution issues statewide and one pipe at a time.
Over the last 30 years, Puget Soundkeeper has risen to become the major voice for protecting the waters of Puget Sound, our common treasure and vital resource. Our programs have changed over time, but the one constant that has never changed is the deep commitment and unwavering support we have received from the community. Thank you.
People understand on a gut level that we must move boldly to protect the Sound. Whether it’s restoring endangered aquatic wildlife, protecting abundant fresh seafood, preserving outdoor recreation, caring for the health of our communities, or ensuring a worthy legacy to pass on to future generations, we are united in the importance of this mission.
We stand strong today because of the work and support of so many committed people: from the volunteers serving on our Board and committees, to those who pitch in to help us on the water each week throughout the year, to our generous funding supporters and even those simply cheering us on with an enthusiastic thank you. We are stronger because of you.
Looking ahead to the challenges of 2015 and beyond, your support will help stop pollution and protect and preserve our precious resource that is Puget Sound.
We are thrilled to have you with us!
Chris Wilke
Puget Soundkeeper and Executive Director

Puget Soundkeeper Alliance’s mission is to protect and preserve Puget Sound by monitoring, cleaning up and preventing pollutants from entering its waters.
Active MonitoringSoundkeeper staff and volunteers are out on the water every week by boat and kayak. Our patrols document and report pollution to the Department of Ecology and US Coast Guard. We report pollution on nearly 30% of our patrols.
Active EnforcementThe Clean Water Act empowers citizens to enforce the law and bring polluters into compliance. Soundkeeper has taken legal action against more than 150 egregious violators. To date more than $3.7 million in mitigation funds have been awarded to
local groups to repair environmental damage.
Active EngagementSoundkeeper is at the table with industry leaders and government officials to strengthen regulations in order to protect our waters from wastewater and stormwater pollution. We are often outnumbered and do not agree with everyone, but we are there to advocate for a healthy Puget Sound.
Solution-Oriented Partnerships Stopping pollution at the source is always the best solution. Puget Soundkeeper Alliance is a founding member of the EnviroStars Cooperative, an award winning seven-county program that has certified over 800 businesses. We also manage the Clean Marina Washington program that has certified over 67 marinas.
