DESCRIPTION
Halo Happenings - August 2013 Littlest Angel Guild, CHOC Hospital Orange County
Citation preview
I have just returned home from our August Board mee ng. As always, I am impressed with the talents of all of our Board Members and Com-mi ee Chairs. Our new Board has been hard at work through our short summer break. Everyone is dedicated to making this another successful year.
Pam Starr has some great ideas and plans to help our Event Chairs. Ca-mille Ki ridge and her Home Tour team has been busy. We have three wonderful homes this year and all of them are in Yorba Linda. We have a later Event date this year that always forecast be er cket sales and a endance at Gi Faire. Ione Levin and Lucie Forward and their team have some exci ng plans and a great selec on of Vendors. Linda Kelly and Regina Bernabe are organizing our LAG Team and donors for CHOC Walk. Contact them to donate or walk. Lori Stenovich has plans under-way for Pursenally Yours in March 2014! Kids’ Cards has moved but s ll connected to the Guild with bigger (but different) plans for this year. Flossie Thwing will be reaching out for volunteers and underwriters. Fran O’Brien will maintain the Inventory updates from the Event Chairs, see them for keys to your “stuff” that is in storage.
Plans are underway for a new Event in June 2014 – the Great Kitchens of Orange County and Terrilynn Nisles and Pam Starr will be discussing the plans at our August General Mee ng. Pa Berggren and Donna Frize have some new Events scheduled for this year. Don’t forget to think about bringing a friend interested in joining the Guild to a Fun Event and let them get to know us. We will con nue to par cipate in outside events such as the Orange County Food and Wine Fes val and our Com-munity at the Yorba Linda Fiesta Days.
Char Knapp and Lucille Summerfield are promo ng our events through adver sing. Look for our ads and Publicity. We now keep some of our history in photos on-line in Facebook. We also maintain these photos in our History Albums please pass on print photos to Annie Cruse.
Lucille Summerfield gave her final report of the whopping $214,543 we donated to CHOC in 2012-13. She has passed the baton to our new Treasurer Pam Jones. You need to get all your receipts, invoices and contract copies to her star ng today. Speaking of money, the Board re-viewed our Goals and Budgets for next year. All of our Event Chairs know their Budgets. See them and Pam Starr if you have ques ons about Budgets. We get high marks for the return on donated dollars to CHOC. And don’t just think you have to give in BIG ways. Bring your Change to
President’s Message mee ngs for Change for CHOC. Roxanne Sco ’s sales of books, collec-on of change brought in $4,000 last year!
Terrilynn Nisle will be sending you the Minutes of the Mee ngs so look for her emails. If you don’t have an e-mail address Terrilynn will mail to you. Same for Lynn and Michelle Coulter—they will mail Halo Hap-penings. If you have, or know of, an illness or life event please let Con-nie Vargo know. Connie will take care of sending appropriate cards, le ers or flowers. Send her your acknowledgments and thanks as well.
Sandy Sligar and Donna Campion, our collec ve Hostesses, for Hospi-tality – have lunches, the Christmas Party and Bunco planning under-way. Give them your support and a end our Events and offer them a helping hand.
Be y Barr (Computer input), Laurel Van Gilder (Website) and Regina Bernabe (Facebook) keep us connected electronically and by mail. They reach out to the Community in ways we could not begin to on a one-to-one personal level. Pa Gosnell connects us to the Community thru the Yorba Linda Chamber and makes important contacts for us and their Members help us in many ways.
Membership, under Ann Hart and Mary Ann Russell’s leadership, have done a terrific job in recrui ng new volunteers in year. They are work-ing now on upda ng our Directory. Our Provisional Moms this year, Lori Stenovich, Marlene Mendoza and Annie Cruse, will help in guiding them thru their first year. Please stop by and introduce yourself to our Provisionals and make them feel welcome and as important as they are to the Li lest Angel Guild.
I wanted to close my message with Membership and Provisonals, for a reason. Our volunteers are our most important asset. All of our ac-complishments rely on volunteers. Without a growing and vibrant membership we cannot be successful. We need your talents, your ideas and for you to be a face to the Community. Thanks for your con-nued support.
Thank you!
Karen Allen,
Li lest Angel Guild President

Beginning with our August Halo Happenings we only “snail” mail to those that do not have an email address. Our newsle er is an important way for us to communicate to our members. We want everyone to read and enjoy. Missed a mee ng? Catch up on what is going on, remember who has a birthday and learn about our new members, all from your monthly newsle er.
I appreciate your support, and please let us know if you have any issues with the PDF (that is the acronym for a “portable document format”). That means everyone with access to email or a computer on the planet can double click the document and read.
Or, if you want to expand your horizons, read our on-line “magazine” in color by accessing the link. Want to have a paper copy of your own? You can print one out. Have any problems? Contact Lynn or Michelle Coulter.
Thanks! Karen Allen

Hello Angels and welcome to a new year at our guild. I am very excited and honored to be serving as your First Vice President –
Ways and Means. We have a wonderful group of ladies who are working for a great cause and together and I know we can make
our goals a reality. My background is fund-raising and accoun ng, so I know we can raise a lot of funds while keeping well within
our budgets.
Our chairs for our various fundraising commi ees have generously volunteered their me and talents this year to help our efforts
become successful. I have been pondering on how to make them prominent to everyone… so as of today….they will be now be
known as “Team WAM” … Team Ways And Means.
Each lady will be our Angel “Warrior’s.” The defini on of Warrior is “One who is engaged aggressively or energe cally in an ac vity
or cause.”
This certainly describes the following women and their posi ons:
• Change for CHOC – Roxanne Sco
• CHOC Kids’ Cards – Flossie Thwing
• CHOC Walk – Regina Bernabe/Linda Kelly
• Fun Events – Pa Berggren/Donna Frize
• Gi Faire – Ione Levin/Lucie Forward
• Home Tour – Camille Ki ridge
• Pursenally Yours – Lori Stenovich
Get to know these “Warriors” and offer your help. They can’t do their job without everyone offering their me and talents. If you
have a great idea, please suggest it. Drop me or any of The Team WAM members an email, call them on the phone or just stop one
of us and we can discuss your sugges on or ideas. When they ask for volunteers, please raise your hand and help out.
This 2013-2014 era will bring new and exci ng changes for our Ways and Means commi ees. Please par cipate as you can and
donate your me. Volunteers are always needed.
At our LAG we need to all work together because together we can make wonderful things happen for the children of CHOC.
“Here’s to a great new year and a new Board” . We’re gonna have a blast!
Pam Starr,
Vice President, Ways & Means
Volunteers are seldom paid; not because they are worthless, but because they are PRICELESS! ‐‐author unknown.

Home Tour
Hello Angels!
The Home Tour is less than 3 months away! We have more than doubled the number of retailers that will be selling ckets this year covering Brea, Fullerton, Placen a, Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills and Villa Park. The florists and table se ers have met with the homeowners to determine suitable florals and table decor for the homes.
The brochure is almost complete - we think you'll like the color pages and unique cover. Now is the me to start talking about the tour with your fami-
ly, friends and neighbors and give them a brief de-scrip on of each- a contemporary filled with many original art pieces and unique furniture, a Tommy Bahama meets Hawaii family home with a huge backyard, and a Mediterranean rebuild with all the latest features.
Thank you,
Camille Ki ridge Chair, 2013 Home Tour

We are pleased to announce that we have 40 wonderful prizes for our drawing this year. We want to thank our commi ee, Trica Livermore, Carol Mullings, and Annie Cruse, who made many phone calls to pull this together in such a short me. Thank you Angels for your generosity in dona ng these prizes. We couldn't have done this without all of your support. Prizes have started to come in, and we would like to have all the prizes collected by our October 10th general mee ng. You can either bring it to the mee ng or give Maria or Kathy a call and we'll be happy to pick it up. The ckets are currently being printed and will be bundled and distributed with the Home Tour ckets at the September 12th general mee ng at YLCC. If you think that you will need extra ckets beforehand, let us know and we'll bundle those up for
you too. We are asking for some help to put the 5,000 ckets together a er the August 8th mee ng at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. We will do it either at the church or at Kathy's home. Please bring a stapler and your sense of humor. Hope you are having a fun summer and staying cool under your halo. Once again, thank you all so much. Pursenally Yours
CALLING ALL ANGELS!
It is never too early to start thinking about Pursenally Yours. With all the summer sales going on, it is a great me to collect Grab Bag items or some of those darling summer purses.
In addi on, if you have any ideas for an “Experience” auc on item or have a meshare we can use as an auc on item, please let me know. “Experience” auc on items don’t have to cost an arm and a leg. They can be a Gourmet Dinner Party for Six catered by a member, a Holiday Cocktail Party Cruise on Eastlake Village during the holidays, Design a Holiday Tree, Golf Lessons, Art Lessons, Cooking Lessons, Theatre ckets, Angel/Dodger/Laker or Duck Tick-ets, etc. Share your talents and raise funds for CHOC at the same me.
Put on your “thinking caps” for “experience” ideas and go shopping. It doesn’t get any easier than that.
Thank you!
Lori Stenovich,
Pursenally Yours Chairman
