What’s going on?!

Fall swim conditioning will meet at the school on Mondays and Fridays and at the SCAC on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning Sept. 9th. (3:30-4:30). Optional dryland will be 2:45-3:15.

There is no school-sponsored transportation, so students will need to walk (in groups!) or arrange carpools/rides on swim days.

A calendar can be downloaded from the team website.

The Schedule

All workouts EXCEPT optional dryland are required, and missing these workouts (except due to illness) will result in a reduction in the student’s swim grade.

The goal is to be flexible so that students can succeed academically. A 2.0 GPA is REQUIRED for competition.

Students who do not have at least a 2.0 GPA at the end of the semester will be dropped from the team.

Optional vs. Required Workouts

In addition to workouts, the fall calendar includes a variety of team events on weekends.

These events are designed to encourage team bonding. The coach(es) will attend most if not all of these events, but they are not required for the class and are not “school-sponsored.”

In the spring, we will schedule “pasta parties” before some of the meets. If you can host, please let me know.

Students need a current athletic physical on file ASAP.

Physicals are good for one calendar year, so if your student turned in their packet at the beginning of last school year, it’s time to renew.

Physicals cannot be performed by chiropractors, so you’ll need to go to your regular doctor or to a walk-in clinic to see an MD. (CIF RULE!)

Packets are available on the team website.

The “spirit pack” includes all of the equipment and uniform pieces that your student will need for the year as well as a small amount of money to cover bus transportation, pool rentals, and other costs. The “suggested donation” will vary depending upon

what equipment your student needs, but expect about $200-250, which can be paid all at once or in installments over the course of the school year.

A limited amount of team equipment is available for students to borrow if finances are a concern.

When competitions begin in the spring, we will need parent volunteers for timing, bringing snacks, and working the computer timing system.

We are hosting SCV Relays this year, so I will also need volunteers to help coordinate program printing, awards, hospitality, set-up, and clean-up. Other schools will help, but we are in charge!

Booster club is under construction. Contact Valerie McDermott at [email protected] if interested.
