White is the new colour of choice, but is there a demanfor white cars because of the popularity of the iPhone?

THE POPULARITY of white cars islinked to the success of the iPhone, ac-cording to a vehicle leasing firm.

Arval carried out a survey cross-refer-encing carcolour choice withpersonali-ty traits andother demographics.Whitecar owners were eight years youngerthan average, at 38.

The rise of white as a colour choicecan, the company believes, be tracedback to the launch of the iPhone, which

originally came in white. These cooland innovative products may have hadgreater influence than previously real-ised.

In a release, Arval said: The numberof new white cars being registered inthe UK has risen significantly since thelaunchof theiPhone in2007 andiPadin2010. In 2004, registrations of white carswere so low they were not reported sep-arately by industry trade body, SMMT.
