Marangoni, along with Studio Design I.DE.A., designed andbuilt Ellisse, a low rolling resistance tyre prototype. This projectwas presented at the Museum of Modern and ContemporaryArt in Rovereto (MART) during the MITOMACCHINA exhibition(2006).

After more than fifty years of activity in the tyresector, the Marangoni Group is one of the few inthe world to adopt a complete approach to thetyre business. Its highly integrated operations infact cover the entire life cycle of the product, indifferent market sectors: design and production ofmachinery for the tyre industry, development ofretreading materials and technology, new tyreproduction - for both industrial vehicles and cars -and industrial scale retreading.
The products are marketed through branches anddistributors in many countries around the world, inaddition to the direct distribution network in Italy.The final phase is represented by the production ofclean energy through the thermal processing ofscrap tyres. Advanced Research and Development CentreThe Advanced Research and Development Centrein Rovereto operates for all areas of the Group. Whileits task is to define the development specificationsfor compounds in all application areas, fromretreads to new tyres, and for the technologicalaspects of new car tyres, it is also directly involvedin tyre structure and tread pattern engineeringactivities. The Group’s research activities are a pointof reference for important international companiesthat also carry out joint initiatives with Marangoni,to explore new frontiers in the rubber sector. Inrecent years, the Advanced Research and
Development Centre has concentrated its activityon hi-tech projects including:- the development of the Ultra High Performance
tyre series and special winter models;- the design of low rolling resistance and high
mileage compounds.The second project in particular has led to thedevelopment of products (new tyres, retreads andretreading materials) that reduce fuel consumptionand CO2 emissions.Thanks to this constant commitment, the MarangoniGroup has become a real sector pioneer in relationto Europe’s strict environmental and safety standards,

which are already applied by the company to thedevelopment of technologies that reduce noiseand enhance braking on wet roads. In particular,the Modular Tyre Machinery project, has alreadyplayed a strategic role in the Group’s success andefficiently represents the Advanced Research andDevelopment Centre’s activities.
Modular Tyre MachineryThe last frontier of Marangoni technologicalinnovation is the design and construction of amodern and fully automated new car tyre productionunit: MTM (Modular Tyre Machinery). This newplant-laboratory, being developed by the ResearchCentre in Rovereto, is completely automated and,once operating at full capacity, will be extremelyflexible, allowing to change tyre size as neededwhile offering high quality finished products.

In this business area Marangoni develops day byday its extensive specialisation in cold retreadingwith precured rings. Today, in Europe, Marangoniis one of the main supplier of precured materialand equipment used in commercial tyre retreading.The real strength of this business unit, which coversall truck market needs, is the RINGTREAD SYSTEM:an exclusive cold retreading technology that utilisesprecured tread rings produced in MarangoniGroup facilities. The RINGTREAD SYSTEM offershighly automated retreading processes, guaranteeingenhanced productivity, high quality standards andoutstanding technical performance.
This business unit offers customers a wide rangeof products and services, from precured rings andintegrated retreading systems to technical know-how, sales training, plus marketing and after-salessupport. The world is the reference market for this businessunit which operates production plants in Italy,Germany, the United States and Brazil.

This business unit of the Marangoni Group is animportant international point of reference in thesector of tyre retreading for commercial vehicles,from road haulage and earth-moving machinery tooff-road applications.The basic competitive edge is the wide assortmentof retreaded products, including giant tyres forearth-moving machinery and industrial transport,along with efficient service perfected over decadesof retreading experience and assistance to largefleets. It is also a major manufacturer of retreadsfor passenger,, 4x4s and light transport vehicles.
In this business unit Marangoni also collects andrecycles worn tyres to produce electric energythrough thermal processing. Marangoni is one of the most important manufacturersof industrial tyres in the world. Its wide range ofproducts includes solid and pneumatic tyres, withnumerous variations for special applications. Marangoni operates in the tyre distribution marketthrough Pneusmarket SpA: a network of more than50 sales outlets that satisfies the needs of carowners, company fleets, small and medium roadhaulers, car and truck assistance networks as wellas leasing and rental companies.Pneusmarket is actively involved in the retail andwholesale distribution of tyres for cars, light transportvehicles and industrial vehicles made by Marangoniand other major brands.

This business unit stands out in the machineryand technology sector thanks to its outstandingengineering department with excellent productioncapacities. Special attention is dedicated to theproduction of modern building machinery andequipment for all types of tyres, and in particularfor the most demanding applications, such aslarge and very large radial tyres.This business unit also specialises in “tailor-designed” machinery, meaning machinery builtaccording to the requirements of the most qualifiedcustomers around the world.
These machines utilise extremely modern proprietarysolutions, such as the strip winding of the Alphaline. Finally, this business unit is a recognisedworld leader in retreading systems for very largetyres, like those mounted on earth-moving vehicles.This division has also developed modern thermalprocessing systems for scrap tyres which allowsthe Group to complete the tyre life cycle throughthe production of “green” energy.

ECO-FRIENDLY DEVELOPMENT

Selecting tyres at the end of their service life,eliminating them without polluting, recovering steeland reusable chemical substances from the casingand, finally, generating electric power through thisprocess: this is the trail being blazed by Marangonifor eco-sustainable development.The tyre, even if completely worn, still has much tooffer: 85% of the tyre consists of oil by-productswhich can be burned to generate high heatingpower. This is Marangoni’s patented answer to theenvironmental problem and to European Communitydirectives.
This answer, based on twenty years of research onrecycling of worn tyres, has led to the constructionof three leading-edge thermal processing plants.Each plant produces 3300 kw/h and represent thelatest technology in terms of combustion efficiencyin the disposing of scrap tyres. Marangoni does notlimit itself to drastically reducing the environmentalimpact of scrap tyres, but transforms the end oftheir life cycles into a rebirth by recovering rawmaterials and producing energy.
