Compact medium speed designThe Grenaa propulsion systems aredesigned as compact units with engine andreduction gear integrated. This makes theinstallation length short compared to othermedium speed propulsion systems. At thesame time it makes installation work uncomplicated since only a minimum of connections and alignment work has to beperformed by the shipyard.

The heavy duty conceptAll Grenaa equipment is designed for conti-nous heavy duty operation and only materi-als of the highest quality are used.Component suppliers are all well recog-nized ones. Reliability and long timebetween service intervals make the Grenaapropulsion system the optimum choise forprofessional work vessel applications.

Low operational costsThe long stroke of the slow running enginecombined with the carefully designed com-bustion chamber and the best fuel injec-tion and turbo charging systems ensurelow fuel consumption. The lube oil changeintervals and low specific consumption fur-ther sustains a very economical perfor-mance of the diesel engine.The fuel consumption of the total propul-sion system is kept low by careful matchingof propeller characteristics to the rest of the

plant. The controllable pitch propeller sys-tem allows good performance at all loadsand speeds.

Service intervals are long, componentwear rates are moderate and the workrequired is simple. All this contributes tokeep the overall maintenance costs low.The basic components have a virtually infi-nate service life which makes it possibleand economically feasible to refurbish theengine to as new condition even aftermany years of operational life.

Green environmentally friendly enginesThe Grenaa Diesel engines fulfill the strictemission limits set by IMO. The outlet ofNitrogen Oxides and Hydro-carbons arewell below the permitted values. In somecountries this is rewarded by the right tobuy fuel excl. pollution related taxes.
