WEDDING PACKAGES - EXCLUSIVELY YOURSGreenhill Lodge is a magnificent venue which is ‘Exclusively Yours’. This means that you have the entire lodge to yourselves for your wedding, so that you and your guests can enjoy the unique beauty and luxury of this special place, in total privacy.

The four main wedding packages we offer are described below. However we specialise in tailored and bespoke weddings unique to each couple. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any other requests.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY VENUE WITH LUXURY REFRESHMENTSAdd to the fun and glamour of having your bridal party photographs taken at Greenhill by enjoying delicious seasonal canapés and bubbly, served by a member of the Greenhill staff.

Price: $2,500 for the first hour + $550 per extra hour, refreshments from $55 per person (maximum 12 guests).

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY VENUECreate memories that last a lifetime when you have your wedding photographs taken in the privacy of Greenhill Lodge. The beautifully restored historic homestead, stunning mature gardens and breath-taking views of the Hawke’s Bay countryside combined with the excitement of your wedding day and the delight of your bridal party, mean your photographs will capture a magical moment in time. We’re happy to recommend local photographers who know the property well and who will ensure you both enjoy the occasion and delight in the results.

Price: $2,500 for the first hour + $550 per extra hour


WEDDING RECEPTIONA wedding reception held at Greenhill Lodge offers all the exclusive luxury and elegant romance you could hope for - whether it’s an intimate celebration for up to twelve guests in the Lodge, or a larger event held in a marquee in the stunning Greenhill gardens.

Choose your caterer and other wedding suppliers to create a beautiful and memorable wedding reception to suit your specific tastes and wishes, and we will work with you to create your perfect day.

Venue hire includes wedding night accommodation in the luxurious MacLean Suite for the bride and groom with breakfast, a bottle of French Champagne and chocolates, and a secure room to store wedding gifts that are transferred to your bedroom suite.

Tariff inclusive of GST:

Peak season: 1st September - 30th April: Saturday - $5,750, Friday or Sunday - $4,250, Monday to Thursday - $3,750

Off Peak season: 1st May - 31st August: Saturday - $3,750, Friday or Sunday - $3,250, Monday to Thursday - $2,850

WEDDING CEREMONY AND REFRESHMENTS, FOLLOWED BY PHOTOGRAPHSHold your wedding ceremony in the delightful pavilion adjacent to the croquet lawn within the lodge grounds. Afterwards your guests can take a leisurely walk through the mature gardens and enjoy bubbly and a range of Greenhill’s delicious seasonal canapés whilst the bridal party and family have their photographs taken.

Price: $3,000 for three hours, refreshments from $55 per person (maximum 130 guests).


EXCLUSIVELY YOURS - LUXURY WEDDING CELEBRATION WEEKENDWe specialise in exclusive single party bookings so that guests may enjoy the privacy of the whole lodge and gardens at their leisure, for the entirety of your wedding celebration. We can work with you to organise all aspects of your wedding at Greenhill, from accommodation and the pre-celebration pampering to the wedding itself, and even the luncheon with friends and family the day after.

The lodge needs to be booked for the day of the wedding ceremony and we can accommodate a total capacity of 12 guests in the lodge and the cottage combined.

Access to the lodge and grounds can be from 9am on the day of arrival and late checkout can be arranged on the day of departure especially for the bride & groom.

The delightful pavilion adjacent to the croquet lawn is perfect for the ceremony, and the gorgeous lodge grounds offer space to mingle with family and friends over Champagne and canapés before your reception, either in the lodge (for intimate celebrations of up to 12) or an elegant marquee in the Greenhill gardens.

Our capacity is for up to 130 guests catered in a marquee within the grounds of the lodge by the caterer of your choice. We are happy to assist you with recommendations for caterers and other wedding suppliers. See our Wedding Planning page for examples on www.greenhill.co.nz.

WEDDING ACCOMMODATIONThe Lodge can accommodate 12 guests in total luxury and we offer it as accommodation for the bride or groom’s family, bridal party or close friends, either the night before the wedding or for the wedding night at a special bridal rate.

A popular accommodation option for brides is to stay at the lodge the night before the wedding with her family and bridesmaids and then spend the morning of the wedding preparing with breakfast and champagne while enjoying all the pre-wedding pampering; massage, hair, make-up. The bride can relax and enjoy the wedding morning with family and bridesmaids on-site together and our staff will attend to all final arrangements.

Price: from $5,500 per night for the exclusive use of the lodge & cottage, including breakfast.

Greenhill Lodge accommodation consists of two suites and two rooms and the cottage also has a further two bedrooms:

» MacLean Suite - Super King room with 2 shower bathrooms.

» Sollitt Junior Suite - Super King room with an ensuite shower bathroom.

» Hudson Room - King room with ensuite shower bathroom.

» Lyons Room -Super King/Twin room with ensuite shower bathroom. Wheelchair accessible.

» The Cottage - A queen bedroom and ensuite shower bathroom with a twin room and ensuite shower bathroom, lounge, kitchen, dining area and luxurious outside bath.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS DEPOSITUpon confirmation of the date of the event:

» The full seasonal venue hire fee for the exclusive use of Greenhill Lodge.

» 50% of the agreed ‘Cost Estimate’ for food, beverages, staffing and any hireage costs for any equipment required one month prior to the event day, and a valid credit card number to allow settlement of the outstanding account balance on the day after the event.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTUREYou can choose the time you wish to arrive at Greenhill which allows you to relax and get ready prior to the wedding and enjoy the event afterwards at your leisure. Functions must finish by 11.30pm.

PRICESAll prices are quoted inclusive of GST and are subject to change and availability. Menus change seasonally and prices are adjusted to reflect these seasonal changes and may only be set once the menus are confirmed. A minimum food and beverage spend applies depending on season and should this amount not be reached Greenhill Lodge reserves the right to charge the remaining amount as an additional venue hire.

PAYMENTSThe full venue hire fee is payable to reserve the lodge exclusively at the time of confirmation of the booking, a further 50% of the projected food and beverage catering costs one month prior to the event day, and a valid credit card number to allow settlement of the outstanding account balance on the day after the event.

DAMAGESAny damages accidental or wilful will be at the full responsibility of the client and any and all charges will be at the clients’ expense including any ancillary or administration charges relating to rectifying or replacing the damaged item or property. Greenhill Lodge does not accept any responsibility for damages to or loss of any property left on the premises.

SECURITYNon-resident guests may not access the interior of the Lodge or the Cottage at any time prior to, during the wedding function or afterwards, except by prior arrangement. This is for fire & security reasons and we ask that all guests comply.

BYOHawke’s Bay is a premium wine growing region and guests who choose to arrange their own wine may do so if the wine is purchased from a local winery within the Hawke’s Bay winegrowers association. A bottle handling charge of $150 is applicable for chilling, serving and disposal of bottles per function.

LIQUOR LICENCEGreenhill Lodge does not hold a general liquor licence and your selected caterer holds all responsibility for ensuring that they fully comply with all council liquor licencing laws.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS15% surcharge applies to all prices on any public holidays.

CANCELLATIONSDue to the intimate size, private location of the lodge and the demand for forward bookings, cancellations affect us greatly, and the following fees apply:

» The full venue hire fee is non-refundable unless we are able to replace your cancelled booking with another confirmed function on the same date. Administration costs may apply.

» Cancellation within 1 month prior to the function date will incur 50% charge of the agreed “Cost Estimate”.

» Cancellation within 14 days or less prior to the function date will incur 100% charge of the agreed “Cost Estimate”.

Give the florist details of the wedding colour scheme and/or theme and select the flowers.Check that all passports, certificates and legal documents are in order.Buy gifts for the attendants and your fiancé/fiancée.Schedule any fittings required for the bride and bridal party.Confirm music for the ceremony and reception.Arrange where the bridal party will dress on the day.Help out-of-town guests with accommodation requirements.Notify anyone required to make a speech.Write your vows (if you’ve decided to do your own).Give a list of invitees for your stag/hen’s night to your maid of honour/best man.



1 MONTH


Apply for a marriage licence.Chase up late RSVPs and finalise guest list. Printed place cards for the reception.Arrange reception seating plan & printed A3 copy for the entrance to the reception area.Have final wedding gown fitting, with shoes to be worn on the day.Have final fittings for the groom and all the attendants.Meet officiant to check all formalities are in order.Organise your wedding rehearsal.Do a trial run with your makeup artist and hairstylist.Finalise your vows and order of service.Confirm all arrangements with major service providers such as the florist, caterer, photographer, musicians etc.Attend your stag/hen’s night.



2 WEEKS


Try on the bridal gown with all the accessories.Wear in your wedding shoes. Make sure all garments are clean and wrinkle-free.Check that place cards and all other table settings are in order.Give final numbers to your caterer.Confirm the wedding-day schedule with all participants.Organise for someone to look after any out-of-town guests due to arrive.

1 WEEK


Have the wedding rehearsal.Groom to: arrange for the best man to have the rings and service sheets on the day.

Check that suits and any hire items are collected.Check all the honeymoon arrangements and pack your suitcases.Ensure that the bride’s mother or an appropriate person is responsible for taking home the bride’s gown and accessories after the wedding.Arrange for the best man to return the groom’s and attendants’ hired suits.Make final checks on all arrangements.

Check everything is going to schedule (if it’s not: delegate!), then just relax.



WEDDING ETIQUETTE TIPSFor the ceremony, the bride should wear her engagement ring on her right hand, to leave her left ready for the wedding band. After the ceremony, it’s tradition to move the engagement ring back to the left hand.

While it’s a huge day for you both, it’s also a long day for your guests. Consider refreshments for throughout the day, especially after the ceremony when the bridal party are likely to be having photographs taken. Canapés, bubbly, non-alcoholic drinks and of course a little shade will keep your friends and family happy while you’re off smiling for the camera.

There’s a traditional order of speeches which you may like to be aware of. Bride’s father first, followed by the Groom, and then finally the Best Man. Other speakers should be included while still holding this general format.

Speeches are often the highlight of the wedding, when guests get the chance to learn more about the couple – including a few candid details and stories! Be sure to brief your speakers on the type of wedding you’re working towards, so you (and your family) aren’t dealt any nasty surprises.

The first dance can be daunting or delightful – or a mixture of both! We recommend preparing something so that you’re relaxed about it on the day. Once your time in the dance floor spotlight is over, etiquette dictates the groom should also dance with both mothers, the bride with both fathers, the mother of the bride with the father of the groom and vice versa. Also, the best man should share a dance with the chief bridesmaid.

Thank you notes to your guest should be sent out within three months of the wedding celebration. Even in this fast-paced digital world, an email, text or social media message should not replace a hand-written note of gratitude.
