rhe present time is this: . . . the peopleare afraid ... tired of war! The continent has been torn by war three times inthe past half century. Their homes andtheir cities and farmlands have beenruined. These people over here-especially in Britain and France-know whata great WASTE war is! The significantpoint is that at the present time they areso afraid-so tired of war that they aredesperately searching for and willing tograsp at anything tha t looks like it willoffer rhem a permanent peace . . . Someone to guide and lead them the WAYthey want to be led.Has the United States given them thisoffer? From what we hear at home itwould seem so. Yet, through our pointfour program and the Marshall Plan we

actually created the situations thatbrought about the great turn of theworking classes of Western Europe toCommunism! The high-level handlingof the Marshall Plan. Aid was to therich and propertied peoples of thesecountries and it favored the large international business cartels. VERY l it tle ofthis aid ever sifted down to the level ofthe common men . . . instead, his plightwas made worse by' it.

Facts of Nazi Come-BackWeare STILL following this samepolicy in Germany. Here is an interesting piece of news. During World Wa rII one of the largest industrial firms thathelped bui ld the German Wermacht tosuch greatness was the I. G. Farben and

Co. It was known, even before the finalcollapse of the Nazi regime, that theindustrialists had -been chosen to takethe Nazi party underground. They wereto pose as poor misunderstood gentlemen who had been forced to build a warmachine for Hitler but had never reallywanted to . Many of the most importantmembers of the Nazi party were shiftedinto these organizations towards the endof the War-in order to carryon the. Nazi underground after the war.One of the most surpr ising pieces ofnews I've heard since here in Europe is

the announcement from Germany thatthe I. G. Farben corporation, a huge international carrel with interests throughout the world, had been returned to itsprivate ownership and is once againmerging its many small isolated divisionsinto a huge industrial cartel! Georg vonSchnitzler was one of the very importantmen in I. G. Farben & Co.

Now if these German industrialistsare to be accepted, as they tell us, as"just poor misunderstood business men,"and if the Generals of the Wermachtare to be accepted, as they plead, as-"just poor misunderstood Army men"forced to wage war by the Naz i parry,and if the German people are, as we aretold, "jus t poor misunderstood peoplewho had the war forced on them by theNazis" then who are the Nazis? WHOwas responsible for waging World WarII?-and who should be watched lestthey start World War III?

The German IdeaThe facts are these: It is a part ofbasic German psychology that the German people are greater than anyoneelse. I talked with a man yesterday whocrossed the Atlantic on the same shipwith Herman Hoeh and me. He hadtoured extensively through Germanywhile Mr. Hoeh and I were in England

But you should see how they areworking to build back up. They are willing to work night and day because theycan't stand the thought of NOT beingthe greatest nation on earth! TIley arewilling to work under any conditionsto reach that goal."This is exactly what the Germans dobelieve.

The astonishing thing is that theUNITED STATES is now helping to buildthese same German industrial cartelsback into power! AND helping Germanyto REARM as a bulwark against SovietRussia.

French Would Not FightWestern Europe DOES live in fear ofSoviet Russia! The people here aregreatly worried over the prospects of awar between the U.S. and the Russians

and they want NO PART of it.In case of a war with Russia I do notbelieve the French, the Dutch, the Belgians or any of the European countrieswould enter on either side. They wouldrather remain neutral! England wouldundoubtedly be in it with us. There isno other course she could follow.BUT, the rest of Europe is living ingreat tear at a war between the U.S.and Russia and firmly believe that theironly protection will be a UNITED STATESOF EUROPE!The problems which are delaying thecomplet ion or accomplishment of this

fact are these: The question of who wiIIbe the ruler, how much sovereignty willeach individual country retain, and whatwill be the factor to bind them firmlytogether?The Stage Is Set

The answers are already there-asthey are prophesied to happen in theBible. The Beast of which John writesin the 17th Chapter of Revelation hasten horns-ten nations-the crowns onthese horns represent the rul ing powerof these ten nations. And notice it wasa dragon-the Devil-which gave himhis power and his seat and great authority.The binding faith that will eventuallybring Europe together is not economicalagreements. I t will be something thatwill go much deeper than that!The present state of affairs as I haveseen it and learned from people here inFrance would require a spiritual binding.The POPE and the Catholic Church willbe the source of this unity.The Germans are the great industrialists and the war makers. They willcreate the Army and run it. But, the

They could be nothing else.That is what Europe is ripe for at thepresent moment.They are disgusted with the way theUnited States has handled things overhere. They are deeply afraid of anotherwar. They are having to reduce their living standards to bui ld back up and payfor World War II. They realize that theycan never really be strong unless theyare united and the trade barriers betweentheir countr ies are broken down. But atthe present they are not willing to relinquish their own sovereign rights toany other nation. Thus it will be a religious power that will finally bringthem together.

Building Our FrankensteinThe Bible prophecy states that thisBeast will attack and conquer the United States and Britain. The British DEFI-NITELY will NOT become a part of any

United States of Europe. While talkingto people in England I found that theytake great offense at any mention ofthemselves as Europeans. They say "Weare NOT Europeans, we are BRITISH,"which to them is quite a different thing.This is not altogether JUSt national pride.As has been shown by my father inhis booklet "The U.S. in Prophecy]' theUnited States and Britain, the Englishspeaking democracies and the democracies of Northwest Europe are the descendants of Ancient Israel. Not Jewsbut Israelites, descended from Ephriamand Manassah. Weare those countrieswhich this "Beast" is to take over andrule.

The United States is helping to buildup this colossal thing in Europe whichis later to destroy us.Today, the 14th of July, was BastilleDay in France. It is their greatest national holiday and the same thing toFrenchmen that the 4th of July, or Independence Day, is to Americans. All ofthe government buildings, all of thestatues, the parks etc. were decoratedwith flags and bunting and a great parade was held.Early this morning flights of jet airplanes started flying very low overhead.These were American Pantherje ts andF-80 Shooting Stars. When the paradestarted I was amazed to see that everysingle piece of equipment was Ameri-can!

The soldiers were carrying Americansub-machine guns, bazookas, mortars,machine guns, pistols and rifles. All ofthe tanks that passed were Americanmanufactured. We saw Dodge andChevrolet trucks and Ford and WiIIysJeeps carrying the French soldiers andAmerican made field artillery; large

How the French FeelYou think that this would make theFrenchmen very friendly to America.Actually it hasn't. They are believing toa great extent-at least those I've talkedto, that America is building up for an

other war-which they want no part of!They feel that we are arming them tofight our battles and in case of warthey will show us that they have no in-tention of doing so!There are many signs around Paristhat say "Ridgway go home," "AMERICAFOR THE AMERICANS" (keep out of Europe), etc. There is a definite anti-American feel ing here in many places. However, I want to hasten to say that thereare also signs that show pictures ofslaves behind bars and say "Visit Russiafor your vacation-Land of peace andliberty." "The Communists say, Americans Go Home-the People of Francesay-Welcome."In general the people of France, atleast nor thern France, are descendedfrom Reuben-a t ribe of Israel-and Ithought they would be more like thepeople at home than some of the othercountries we will see. However, I findthat a GREAT portion of the people herein Paris are LATIN--dark and short andnot at all like the people in Britain andNorthwestern Europe.I have heard many Americans here inParis say that they felt a greater affinityfor the Germans-as if they were amongtheir own people-than they do for theFrench.In general summation, this is the picture:

The United Nations has failed tobring peace to the world.The people of Europe are sufferingfrom low pay, lack of work, terriblehousing shortages and the general aftereffects of World War II. They are terribly afraid of another world war-enough so that they will turn to the person or thing that offers them protectionfrom it!That is what has left them so ripe for

Communism; BUT, they do not want aCommunism in their own countries thatis dominated by Moscow-They believein a NATIONAL Communism or national socialism-actually Nazism-the verything that is going to happen!Communism is only a hope for a national means of rel ieving their presentpainful condit ions, and, they want tounite and arm themselves togetheragainst aggression.It is the great fear of Communistdomination from Moscow and of a warPlease continue on page 14

EARTHQUAKES to Come!Earthquakes are to become more numerous and increasingly severe.Not only in California but perhaps where YOU live. Your safetyin any event is assured if you baue this protection.

What happened next rousedsome 5 million people of the Los Angeles area from their sleep and sent anumber of frightened inhabitan ts intothe streets. Pla te glass windows in thedowntown district cracked, burglaralarms sounded their warning, and inthe background church bells began toring."Nature" had struck again! Thestrongest earthquake in 30 years shookthe entire state. The village of Tehachapi near the center of the quake wasdealt the severest blow. Twelve dead,scores in jured, property damage in themillions.

What Causes Earthquakes?Who or what is the cause of this freakof "nature"? Ar istorle, Greek philosopher of the fourth century B.c., believedthat winds blowing in subterranean caverns caused the earth to be shaken.Today the commonly taught and pethaps partially correct theory is tha t as

the interior of the earth cools, it becomessomewhat smaller causing the rigid surface portion to adjust, fitting itself tothe smaller interior. These adjustmentstake place along fissures in the ear th'scrust called faults. Movement may takeplace either horizontally or vertically orboth.The noted San Andreas fault of theWest Coast, which early reports considered the probable cause of the recentquake, runs the entire length of thestate. The land on the west side of thisfault tends to move northward in relation to the region on the east side. Themovement at the fault takes place at unpredic table intervals when sufficienttension has been built up. Displacementsof up to 20 feet took place in the earthquake which destroyed San Francisco in1906. Yet the damage done by an earthquake is due to the recurrent shockwaves traveling through the earth's crustrather than the total distance of displacement. The actual shaking of thesolid earth by these damaging shockwaves is generally measured in fractionsof an inch and becomes disastrous whenapproaching a full inch.

The reason comparatively little damage was done in the Los Angeles district in the recent quake is that it assumed a rolling motion, with movementin all directions rather than a series ofshocks from one direction. 'The immediate cause of earthquakes,we might be safe in saying, is the earth 'sadjusting itself and releasing tensions inits surface zone. The cause for these tensions is assumed to be the cooling andshrinking of the interior of the earth.This may be part ly true but it is not thewhole answer!

Bible Incidents Show Originof Earthquakes

Numerous Bible incidents show thedirect connection of God with theseearth movements. Israel's departure fromEgypt was accompanied by quakes whichcaused mountains to move ( Psalms114). There is archaeological evidencethat the walls of jericho collapsed whena properly timed shock occurred.God 's anger is frequent ly expressedby shaking the inhabitants with theearth (Isaiah 5:25 ). Lebanon and Sirion(Hermon) of Palestine are made totremble at His commands ( Psalms29: 6). Thus the Scriptures reveal Godas the One responsible for the solidear th trembling beneath our feet. Youand I know this today and the world willknow it tomorrow for "they shall gointo the holes of the rocks, and into thecaves of the earth, for fear of the LORD,and for the glory of His majesty, whenHe ariseth to shake terr ibly the earth"(Isaiah 2: 19). They will not a ttr ibuteto "nature" that which or iginates withGod!

Why Should Christians Fear?Knowing that it is God who shakesthe earth, what right have you to fearfor your safety? You call God your Father and He is, providing of course, thatyou have been obedient to Him (Matt.

12:50).In a purely physical sense all peopleare God's children, be ing descendentfrom Adam who was God's son (Luke3: 38); a crea ted son.Rut in the spi ri tual sense, only thosewho obey God, who have repented offormer disobedience and have received

His Spir it are His sons and only thesehave the promise of safety.Our Part in Time of Danger

While our safety is assured, we dohave a part to play in it. We are told towatch and pray that we may escape allthese things (Luke 21: 36). Yes, earthquakes (v , 11), as well as famine, pestilence, and persecution are mentionedas a thing which we are to watch forand be protected from. We must putour life in God's hands to preserve ortake as He should choose.In addition to watchfulness andprayer, action may also be our duty.Note that when Jerusalem is surroundedby armies, those Christians in Judaea(v . 21) ar e to flee 1O the mountains. Weoften have to do that which is in ourpower to assure our safety.

Here are a few simple rules God expects you to follow when a severe earthquake occurs:( I) If in a large bui ld ing do not runinto th e streets. Injury from fal1ingbrick and stone is much more likelythan the remote chance of the wholebuilding collapsing.( 2) A doorway is a safer place thanthe middle of the room. Falling plas teror light fixtures can cause painful injuries.( 3) Leave broken electric lines, orbuildings in danger of collapse to thosewho are qualified to deal with them.This much it is reasonable that Godexpects you to do. Leave the rest withHim. He knows about the earthquake;He knows where you are and has aguardian angel beside you. Yes, Chris tgave us a promise, "I am with you always, even unto the end of the world"(Matt. 28:20).Injury, sickness, persecution, sufferingand even death may come upon you butnot without His knowledge and expressconsent. Consider the case of Job.Could you say the words he did, "Though

The True Significance of EarthquakesWar, famine, pestilence and earthquakes are signs to precede the arrivalof Chr ist as world ruler. Each war, eachfamine, each earthquake, then, is a waymark in the path the world must followbefore it can have peace. Our acceptanceof these signs ought to be with understanding, not with fear.The heathen, Jeremiah says, are dis

mayed at the signs in the heavens, (J er.10:2) b1tt not God's people.To us, earthquakes, flying saucers,rumors of war are the signs of an approaching event, one which we awaitwith joy, not fear. All who call themselves Christian ask for this event; "Thykingdom come. Thy will be done inearth as it is in heaven" (Matt. 6: 10 ) .

The JordanValley as a whole is a wedge shapedblock up to 10 miles wide which hasdropped down from its original positionas much as 5000 feet in places. Sometime in the earth's history a movementin the earth's crust tended to pull theland of Palest ine into two sections. Instead of a chasm forming in the gap between, this wedge shaped segmentdropped into its present pos it ion forming the Jordan Valley.This could easily be the explanation.At Christ 's return the Mount of Oliveswould split along an east-west line anda valley would form between the twomountains as the middle section lowereditself to form the floor of the valley.The event would certainly be accompanied by an earthquake as Zech. 14: 5

What Europeans Think of UsIf war broke out tomorrow between Russia and the United Statesand Britain, France and Germany probably would not fight. Read why.

Its people live and think differenrly than we do at home becausethey do not have the same personal andnational problems.At present Europe is like a dis-UnitedStates. In America we travel freely fromone state to another, using the samemoney, speaking the same language. Europeans must submit to customs' regulations, change their money and speakanother language every time they crossa border.These little inconveniences, however,are not what makes Europe so different.It 's their way of thinking that makes Europeans seem so far away.

The people here have been bornand reared in a time of wars and depressions for three successive generations.They have had to live in the midst ofviolence. In America the people havenot been close to such misery. We don'tfeel it in the personal way that Europeans do. Our homes have not beenbombed. Foreign troops have notmarched down our streets and pillagedour personal belongings. This sufferingis what has made most Europeans tiredof war. The people want peace but theydon't know how to find it.

They Catch an Idea from UsBecause of the war, Europeans havehad a unique oppor tunt iy of observingwhat has made America great. They seethat we are a UNITED States. Theyknow that their continent is divided,filled with national rhialries that havebeen the cause of most of Europe's chaos.They observe our tourists who areusually comparatively prosperous. Theydo not realize that most Americans cannot afford to travel abroad. And thenthey glance at the poverty in which theylive. America seems ro wealthy. But

America is made up of UNITED States!If only they could be rich coo! I f onlythey could be united!This is what Europeans are thinking.Without exception, we have found thatpeople in every walk of life want European unity. There is nothing more important to them than this one IDEA.Rearmament is second. Why shouldthey fight a war for the United Statesagainst Russia? They would become thebattleground again while America wouldgrow more wealthy and powerful.

England would definitely follow usinto battle if war should occur with Russia. But most people in France and Germany, where we have been, would do allin their power to remain neutral. Frenchmen welcome our military help, butthey feel little good would be accornplished enless Europe is unified.Why They Dislike Us

Every nation wishes American help,both military and economic. Yet there isa strange undercurrent of thoughtagainst the United States in both Franceand Germany. France right now is goingthrough a most serious mental and .fpiritual upheaval. The moral fabric of theFrench people is worn thin. On everyhand, we noticed that the people wantto squeeze the Amer ican tourist for hismoney. Frenchmen have the idea thatall Americans are rich and that we wantto dominate the world by our money.That's why they dislike us.People in Europe for centuries havebeen guided by nationalistic thought.Each nation is proud of itself and of itsindependence. This spirit of self-determination has been one of the causesof friction between American policy andEurope.

People here want help, BUT THEYWANT TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO DIRECTTHAT HELP AS THEY SEE FIT. Americaand Britain have worked for a NorthAtlantic Union. To Europeans this isNOT as impor tant as a European Union.Already, France and Germany are tryingto solve the most troublesome issuestanding in the way of their unity, theproblem of the Saar basin. We noticedeverywhere we travel that people on thecontinent want to work out their ownproblems without American INTERFERENCE,France Being Drawn Toward Germany

and European UNITYJealousy of America's wealth and influence were two of the most disheartening ideas we encountered in France.Slowly, but surely, France is being drawnaway from both America and Britainand into closer relations with Germanyand Italy. That is most significant! In avery informative conference with Monsieur Jegouzo in the cultural departmentof the French Government, I learnedthat France regards Bri ta in as the mostimportant factor . in European unity.

France has had to rely on Britain inorder to defend herself against Germany.But Great Britain does not want to become an intricate part of any Europeanunion. To Britons, the English channelis hundreds of miles wide.France therefore feels that she can'ttrust in England any longer. She has toco-operate with Germany and yet protect herself against any possible Germanaggressive moves. The only way to do sois to have a united Europe and a commonarmy. This would guarantee France'ssecurity and Europe's defense.

Anti-American Feeling GrowingThe growing antagonism againstAmerica in France is NOTHING compared co what we have found in Germany. Despite millions of dollars spentto RE-EDUCATE the German people,there has been almost total failure. Therehas been no national repentance. Tomany Germans, WAR IS JUS1U'lABLE.I know that most Americans can't understand such thinking, bur Europeansdo think DIFFERENTLY than we do.They have grown up in a differentworld. The Germans especially havebeen taught and have accepted the oldBabylonish idea that war is a test of anation's greatness. The greatest nationis the one that can acquire the most byconquest, This is wha t we were franklytold by a German proprietor the thirdday after our arrival.

Germany Learned This LessonBut the German people have learnedthat their nation can't resist the rest ofthe world alone. Germans want European

unity!They have not lost any of their desirefor domination and self-importance.GERMANY WANTS A UNITED EUROPE INWHICH SHE CAN HAVE THE SELF-ASSURANCE THAT SHE IS THE MOST VITALAND NECESSARY PART. It is inevitablethat Germany, being the economic, industrial and mil itary heart of Europe,should dominate any union.Theodor Blank, the man who will supervise German rearmament , is thoroughly convinced that a united Europeanarmy is the only thing which will attractGerman youth. And this is exactly whatother countries here need as a guaranteeagainst German aggression.

Your parents did not have immortality to give to you,The Bible nowhere teaches that youhave an immortal soul or spirit. In the

day you die your thoughts will perish,You arc exactly like any animal at death(Psalms 146:4 ; Ecc. 3: 19).What you need is to be born again,this t ime with eternal life in you, so youcan't die.But you also need a different natureso you won 't continue to live in suffering and misery. You need to be born of Him!How?How Can You Be Born Again?About two thousand years ago Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews, was puzzledby this question. Jesus had told him,"Except a man be born again, he cannotsee the kingdom of God" (Juhn 3: 3) .Nicodemus understood the true meaning of the word "born," unlike mostpreachers today. But he still couldn't understand how it could be possible to beborn once again, to have another life.

"How can a man be born when he isold? Can he ente r the second time intohis mother's womb, and be born?"(verse 4).Nicodemus knew only of a physicalbirth from physical parents. ThereforeJesus had to explain to him, "Except aman be born of water and of the Spir it,he cannot enter into the kingdom ofGod. That which is born of the flesh isFLESH; and that which is born of theSpiri t is SPIRIT."Here are two different kinds of birth,one physical, the other spiritual. Whenyou were born of your fleshly parentsyou were COMPOSED OF FLESH. Yourfather and mother passed on to you afleshly nature at birth. But there is a second birth, not a physical, fleshly one, buta spiritual birth.

JUST AS A HUMAN BEING IS FLESHBECAUSE HE WAS BORN OF FLESHLY

PARENTS, JESUS DECLARED THAT ANYONE BORN AGAIN OF SPIRIT IS COMPOSED OF SPIRIT - he is spirit, nolonger flesh! "That which is born of theSpirit if rpirit" and NOT flesh.That's thepla in teaching of the Bible!The new birth is not an emotionalexperience but a literal birth. So youwould not mistake the true meaning ofbeing born of the Spirit, Jesus explainedthat "the wind blowerh where it listeth,and thou hearest the sound thereof, butcanst not tell whence it cometh, andwhither it goeth: so is everyone that isBORN of the Spirit."Notice what the Scripture says,Whenyou are born from above, born of God,you will be invisible like the wind whichhuman eyes can't see. The work of thewind is easily discernible, but the winditself cannot be seen. If you were already born again, as the common teaching is, you would possess the nature ofyour Heavenly Father-you would becomposed of spirit because God is Spirit(John 4:24).Jesus compared the spiri tual birth tothe physical one, The latter is a t ype ofthe former. Human parents pass on afleshly nature at birth to their children;so with our Heavenly Parent. God theFather impregnates or begets us withHis Spiri t at conversion; He imparts tous His spiritual nature which must growthrough a lifet ime unt il it finally COMPOSES us when we are born again. Wemust GROW spi ri tually just as a foetusmust grow physically before it can beborn.Born Again at the ResurrectionObviously all human beings whoclaim to be born again are deceivedthey are still flesh and blood, The newbir th is something yet to occur at theresurrection. Jesus said you must beborn again, you must be composed ofspirit in order to see or ente r the Kingdom of God. In I Corinthians 15: 50 theapostle Paul says, "Now this 1 say,brethren, that flesh and blood cannot in-herit the kingdom of God; neither doescorruption inherit incorruption."Note that Paul preached to the Corinthians the very same doctrine thatJesus at the first spoke to Nicodemus.You never can enter or inherit the Kingdom or Family of God unless you areborn of God, composed of Spirit, Paul

The Spiri t itself bearerh wi tnesswith our spirit, tha t we are (already)the children of God: and if children thenheirs; HEIRS of God, and J O I N T - ~ E I R Swith Christ" (Rom. 8:14-17).Not ice tha t although we are NOWthe sons of God we are still HEIRS.

Why? Because we are only BEGOTTENchildren. We shall be INHERITORSwhen BORN of God at the resurrection,when we shall be composed of spi ri t.John says: "Now are we the sons ofGod, and it do th NOTYET APPEAR whatwe SHALL be: but we know tha t whenHe shall appear, we shall be like Him;for we shall see Him as He is" ( I John3:1-2). brings out:We are already the sons of God. Ofcourse! We are begotten of Him, impregnated by the Holy Spi ri t from theFather, which is the beginning of eternallife. But we are not yet born of Him,for it has not yet appeared what weshall be like. Note the next point tha tJohn mentions. We shall be like Him,composed of spirit-"that which is bornof the Spirit is spirit"-"WHEN HESHALL APPEAR"-at the resurrectionwhen Chr ist returns to raise the dead.Then we shall see Jesus as He really

The one can't sin because God's seed remainetb in him. Heis born of God and has God's nature, notthe human nature that once caused himto if he didn't have the strength toresisr. The Christian's Inheritance-What Is It?

when we inherit it! The TRUTH is moreshocking than fiction---especially whenwe are steeped in the fiction!God Makes the Promise

Over 4,000 years ago the promise ofYOUR future inher itance came into being! God found in Abraham a man whoproved his faith by his works (James2: 21,22). He obeyed God in EVERYWAY. Because Abraham performed hispart of a covenant, God promised unconditionally to carry ou t His part.What did God promise Abraham?"For all the LAND which thou seest,to thee will I give it, and to thy SEEDforever" (Genesis I3: 1'5) .Notice it, Abraham was promised theland, not heaven, because he obeyed God(Genesis 22:15-18; 26:5). That promise is ultimately to bless all naeion(Genesis 12: 3; 22: 18). If we are Abraham's children, we will receive the sameinheritance-c-rtrrs EARTH, not heaven!Remember, Christians are heirs to Abraham's promises and God never promised Abraham heaven.But Abraham died, without receivingthe .prornises (Hebrews 11: 8 and 13).

He had the land promised to him, but hedid not inherit it. God did not tell himthat he should inher it it then. Hut howwill Abraham receive the blessings? Hewill have to be resurrected and givenimmorta li ty if he is going to obtain theinheritance forever (Luke 20: 27-38) ."Then what has the promise made to

Abraham to do with us," you wonder?

Listen! Paul explains this: "Now toAbraham and HIS SEED were the p romises made. He sai th not 'and to seeds,' asof many (seeds) but of ONE (seed),WHICH IS CHRIST" (Galatians 3: 16).When Abraham died, Christ becamethe ultimate heir to the promise!

Promises Applies to UsBut Jesus Christ also died! What happened then? "I f ye (you and I today)be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed,and HEIRS ACCORDING TO THE PROM-ISE" (Galatians 3:29). Notice it, Christians are not heirs of mansions in heaven, but instead are heirs of Abraham'spromise which is this earth!If we are the children of God, we arejoim-heirs with Chr is t (Rom. 8: 17).

We are to inherit the same promises Hewill inherit, along with the fathers-theearth!But how are we and Christians ofevery nat ion able to share the blessingsof Abraham?Paul tells US that Jesus came to con-firm the promises made to the fathers(Romans 15: 8 ). Christ came to make aresurrection possible and to grant eternal life by g iving his own life a ransomto atone for the sins of the worldAbraham's sin, yours, mine, everyone's.Compare Romans 14:9 and Luke 20:37with I Corin th ians 15: 17.ALSO, Christ, who was the only heir,willed all his inheritance jointly to usby means of the New Testament whichis His Will. The New Testament hasthe "promise of eternal inheritance"

(Hebrews 9:15). When Christ died, theNew Testament came into force (verse17 ). Therefore, if we repent, believe,are bap tized and are led by the Spir it ofGod we become Chrisr's-s-our life is nolonger ours, but H iS -THEN WE BE-COME AN HEIR TO ABRAHAM'S PROM-ISE.WE, TODAY, then, WILL BE RESUR-RECTED, GIVEN ETERNAL LIFE, ANDBE GIVEN THE EARTH forever becauseGod has to keep his promise!The promises made to Abraham firstinc luded the land of Pales tine but willfinally include ALL THE EARTH! Of

Christ we read, "I will give thee theheathen for thine inheritance, and theuttermost parts of the earth." (Ps. 2:8) .Where Is the Better Country?Those who will be saved at the resurrection are to inherit the same blessings

that Abrahamwas promised. Notice whathe was expecting. "By faith Abraham,when he was called to go out into aPLACE (Palestine) which he shouldAFTER (a t the resurrection) receive foran inheritance, obeyed. . . for he lookedfor a CITY which HATH FOUNDATIONS(note the plural-foundaTiONS), whoseBUILDER and MAKER is GOD" (Hebrews11: 8 and 10).We know that Abraham went to theregion called Pales tine today (Genesis

12:6,7) and that he will therefore inheri t that LAND whose government willultimately rule throughout THIS WORLD( Isa iah 2:2 ) .But notice that IN ADDITION helooked for a CITY WITH FOUNDATIONSWHOSE BUILDER WAS GOD! Now read:"And I (John in a vision) saw a newheaven and a NEW EARTH: for the firstheaven and EARTH were passed awayand there was no more sea. And I Johnsaw the HOLY CITY, NEW JERUSALEMcoming down (ont o the NEW EARTH)from God out of heaven . . . and thewalls of the CITY had twelve FOUNDA-TIONS" (Rev. 21:1,2,14). This city wasmade by God and had foundations!THIS, then, IS THE CITY THAT ABRA-HAM HAD BEEN EXPECTING. HE HADBEEN PROMISED THIS CITY that wouldcome down on the NEW EARTH!Also he sought a better COUNTRY."For they (Enoch, Noah, ABRAHAM) thatsay such things declare plainly that theySEEK a COUNTRY . . . now they desirea better COUNTRY, that is an heavenly"(Hebrews 11:14-16).Notice that is does NOT say that theyseek HEAVEN. The Scripture says theyseek a "COUNTRy"-a better country,not in heaven, but a country LIKE heaven yet on the earth. The word "heavenly" does not mean in heaven, but likeheaven, having the quali ties of heaven.Remember what Jesus said? "Thy will

ing down from God out of heaven" ontothe New Earth. This is the city whoseBuilder is God and it comes down outof heal/en.We do not go to heaven for it but itcomes from heaven to us. "And thereshall in no wise enter into it anything

The Jews a Nation Again-What Does I t Mean?Over four years ago, on May 14, 1948,the Jews in Palestine declared their independence. There were bloody riotswith Palestine Arabs. In the monthsthat followed, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Syria,Saudi Arabia and Lebanon marched wellarmed troops against the Jews. They regarded them as usurpers of the ri ght s ofPales tinian Arabs and as innovators of ahybrid and dangerous culture.Jewish armed uni ts forcibly ejectedmany Palestine Arabs. This paper seriously restricted the

immigration of Jews into Palestine. Jewish immigrants poured in by the thousands as the last British troops embarkedfrom Haifa on June 30.Several armistice agreements weresigned between the warring statesthrough United Nations interventionaf ter a year's f ight ing and the defeat ofA rab and Egyptian arms on the battlefield. The United States, France andBritain are guaranteeing the armistice.Four years have elapsed since, but NOPEACE TREATIES HAVE BEEN CONCLUDED. There is only an ARMED TRUCEin the Near East. Border clashes, kidnapping, theft, murder, rape, mutilationcases-these are continuous factualcharges which both sides hur l agains tone another and which both sides admit.

The Saudi Arabian Ambassador inLondon was quite concerned as hetalked to Dick Armstrong and me aboutthe threat of war that hangs over thePalestine area. Neither side wants tostart another war and yet, as the Ambassador said, neither Arabs nor jewsare satisfied with the present situation.Anything could happen in this kind ofan explosive vacuum. Already Arabs areexpressing fears t hat the Jews will tryto seize all of Jerusalem.

What Do the Arahs Thinkof the Jews?In our conversation with the SaudiArabian Ambassador to England, wewere told WHY the Arabs do not wantto conclude peace treaties with the Jewish State of Israel. To do so, he said,

would be to acknowledge the LEGALITYof the jews' claim to a national homeland in Palestine. This the Arab nat ionsare not willing to do.The Moslem nations demand that thedisplaced Arab refugees be returned totheir homes. This is an impossible solut ion now, because of the enormous increase of Jewish immigrants who havesince the war OCCUPIED THE LANDS

AND FARMS WHICH ARABS ONCE POSSESSED.

The Arab refugees-80% of Palestine's prewar Moslems and 50% of pre-

war Christian-professing Arabs-arepresent ly located in camps in the country of Jordan which naturally faces agiant problem of resettl ement. TheUnited Nations has allocated 200 million dollars to re-establish them in the irpresent lands.In our conference we could easilydiscern the Saudi Arabian Ambassador'sdeep feeling of injustice which he believed was being done by Jews to Palest inian Arabs. The en ti re Moslemworld has a bitter attitude toward thenew Jewish State. Moslems regard theimplantat ion of Jewish cu lture as dangerous to the Arab way of life.Nevertheless, their hope to eject theJews is vanished, though they may cherish it in their hearts. The Palestinejews, being VERY INDUSTRIOUS: arethere to stay.

The Jews would welcome a peacet reaty to solve the problem of resettlement. They are willing to pay, welearned from the Jewish Embassy inLondon, a l im ited amount of moneythe Arabs regard it as much too smallfor establishment of the refugees inArab countries where they are now located. The presence of displaced Arabswill continue to be a running sore inMiddle Eastern troubles.

The Aftermath of the Wa r -Immigration

The present Jewish State controls80% of the area of Mandate Palestine,or a total of 8,100 square miles. Thisarea is even smaller than the state ofMassachusetts, BUT ITS VITAL GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION AND POTENTIAL WEALTH MAKE IT AN INEVITABLE GOAL OF WORLD WAR III.At the Embassy of Israel, I learned thatall men from 18 to 29 inclusive and allunmarried women from 18 to 26 inclusive are subjec t to 24 months oftraining under Jewish conscription laws.The military program is so arranged thatrecruits may choose the area of theirtraining. This enables a combined pioneering and fighting program to be arranged so that each recruit learns to de-

This is a greatchange from the large Arab popula tionin Palestine before the war broke out.

Two major causes have been responsible for the comparatively slow development of Palestine: lack of knowledgeof the Hebrew language and lack of vocational training. Jewish authorities haveaccomplished wonders in solving eachproblem.

Hebrew is the official language of thenew nation. Tomake immigrants productive while theyreceive six to eight months vocationaltraining, the gove rnment establishedtransit ional set tlements in labor shortage areas for families whose men arephysically able to do the work.Only 2% of the immigrants had beenrural residents before their migration toPalestine. Jews have always tended toremain apart from foreign soil. Butthere is now in Palestine a higher percentage of Jewish tillers of the soil thanin the United States, (18% in Palestinecompared ro 14% in the U.S.A.)
