PRINCIPAL’S NEWS

I am delighted that this term, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey aims to help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices.

More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents

The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at school.

I want to assure you that the survey is confidential. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes to complete. It will be administered during school hours between 22 August and 21 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary.

OUTDOOR LEARNING AREA On Thursday 25th August, Rachel and Dave from Albury Bunnings delivered and helped install lots of the equipment we

will be using in our outdoor learning environment. We have four new outdoor bench seats and tables, colourful outdoor chairs and some wood and paint to make displays with. You may notice when you visit our

school the brightly coloured garden beds outside Miss Brown and Mrs Ferris’s classrooms. We have planted some beautiful flowers and also some herbs that we hope to use when cooking in the kitchen!

We are still in the early stages of developing the area into a space that will be wonderful for learning. The students are very excited about our new learning space and those who helped out had an amazing time (even if they did get a little messy in the process).

A huge thank you to the Albury Bunnings store who have donated lots of the equipment to our school and who were kind enough to come and help us with

some of the installation. Watch this space for further developments!

NAIDOC DAY

Yesterday Glenroy Public School students had a wonderful day

celebrating NAIDOC Day. Our special guest Aboriginal

comedian Sean Choolburra was brilliant and the students

really enjoyed his show. Thank you to Mr David Noonan and

AWAHS for generously providing the BBQ lunch. A big thank

you to Mr Dent and Lenny Foard for being head chefs and also

to all staff for providing engaging Aboriginal activities to the

students.

P & C NEWS LAST MINUTE REMINDER FATHER’S DAY STALL THIS FRIDAY Lot’s of very affordable gifts from 50c to $5. Don’t forget to send your students in with some cash so the blokes in our lives can get spoilt.

A HUGE THANKS The Gollan Foard family are pulling out all stops with their support of the school. Len can nearly always be found behind the BBQ at any and every sausage sizzle at the school. This week he helped fry up around 400 sausages. And then the brand spanking new milkshake machine that is in the canteen was a donation from the family as well. So anyone who

enjoyed our one day special on milkshakes on Wednesday benefited from this very generous donation. Thanks Len, Julie and Lenny. You rock!

THE WEATHER IS A CHANGIN’ There will be some lovely warm days just around the corner, thank goodness, and so we will all be looking at updating school uniforms. Don’t forget our uniform shop for some great bargains of second hand, good quality uniforms.

NORMAL PRICES RESUME Thanks to all of the families who supported our milkshake special on Wednesday. We had a great day in the canteen. Just to remind you that milkshakes will now be back at their normal price. Still very affordable and yummy.
