SPORTS NEWS Term 1 has been very busy with Albury PSSA tryouts. A very big congratulations to the many students who went to these tryouts and to their parents who accompanied these students. We had many successful students who made it to the second knock out stage with a few students coming very close to making the Albury team. It was very impressive to see so many students try out and represent Glenroy with maturity and exceptional sporting skills.

Term 2 planning for school PSSA has commenced and our school will be putting teams in AFL, Soccer, Netball and Hockey. Students will be notified of the teams when we return to school. A Code of Conduct and permission note will also be sent home next term. Both parents and students need to sign this note. The Primary Staff have commenced training with students and are already very impressed with the sportsmanship and skills being displayed. We are looking forward to continuing seeing growth in these areas.

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Thank you to all volunteers at our school Athletics Carnival held earlier this term. Your assistance on the day was very much appreciated.

Congratulations to all Glenroy students who participated in events. The sportsmanship shown on the day is also to be congratulated.

Glenroy had 51 students selected to attend the PSSA Zone Athletics Carnival. We wish these students good luck for the carnival that will be held in Week 2 of Term 2 - Friday 11th May.

Thank you to parents/carers and students for returning your notes so promptly. This assists greatly with the organisation for the carnival.

CROSS COUNTRY Our school Cross Country is approaching very quickly. On Friday 4th May (Week 1, Term 2). All Year 2-6 students that are 8 years old and over will be walking to Fredericks Park to complete our Cross Country course. We have received many notes over the past two weeks for the carnival, we thank you for this. If you are yet to return the note please do so as soon as possible.

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL Glenroy students were very lucky to have Dennis Ramsey visit us this term for some wheelchair basketball sessions. Each class enjoyed an exciting session where they learnt about how to use a wheelchair, the importance of sport and that children of all abilities can participate in sport.

Students were also given the opportunity to participate in wheelchair games during lunch and recess. Thank you very much Dennis, the students and teachers really enjoyed your visit.

ANZAC DAY SCHOOL CEREMONY

On Thursday 3rd May 2018, the Glenroy SRC will host our official Anzac Day Ceremony at the school flagpoles. All parents are welcome to join us in encouraging our students to remember the fallen soldiers and to show our respect for those who sacrificed so much for our freedom. What a wonderful Term 1 we have had with our Kindergarten students. They have settled in extremely well and have already progressed so much. It has been lovely to see some strong friendships formed over the term. Both Echidnas and Emus have participated in many exciting activities within the school and have also attended two excursions. We hope all students have a wonderful holiday and are refreshed for another busy term.
