• GISFI_GICT_201112158, Standardization of Global Green Mobile Charger– Input from IIIT-A, Prof. Pandey, was appreciated– Prof. Pandey has started communication with BIS on this topic– Malcolm Johnson, ITU-T, informed that ITU is working on this

topic and that GISFI must look at the activity being done there– Action to Prof. Pandey is to check existing standards on this

topic– Uniqueness of this proposal is interface to renewable energy.

This unique part can be standardized.– Anand R. Prasad, NEC, will support Prof. Pandey in preparing a

GISFI#7: Green ICT Report• Talk by Malcolm Johnson, Director ITU-T

– ITU is active in Green energy (Climate change) from 2007– Estimation of climate change in ICT sector and other sectors by ICT are varied.– A focus group has setup to study climate change (Study group 5)– Methodology of how much ICT can reduce carbon emission is delivered and by

next meeting it will be finalized.– EU is working with ITU to implement methodology.– different governments setup funds for reducing GHG emissions. The

methodology can use these funds for reducing GHG emissions.– ITU-T presentations and speeches contain these details. Malcolm will send some

presentations.– UN EPO program also working with ITU on the environmental effects and best

practice guides.– GISFI academics can send research papers and ideas to ITU which has

USD10,000 as reward.– Universal charger is also ITU study group 5 activity.

• It was agreed to send a LS to ITU-T SG5 with information regarding the mobile charger and measurement activities (see latter part of report for details)

• All members are requested to participate in the April meeting of SG5

VR):– It was decided to send the document for e-mail review because we plan

to send it to TEC– Krishna will send LS to TEC informing that we plan to send a such input

to them. Time plan is: • First version of LS from Krishna: Dec. 30• Comment on first version by all: Jan. 12• Revised version by Krishna: Jan. 13• Comment on editorial aspects by all: Jan. 16• Final version to all and TEC: Jan. 17

– Krishna will prepare a LS to be sent with the final version of the document. We did not decide any deadline for this but we should try to get the job done by 24 Feb.

• GISFI_GICT_201112157 TR GICT.105v100 “Study on Measurements and Metrics of Green ICT” is a new version of the TR where all figures are re-drawn instead of copy and paste in earlier version.

• NEC is requested to refer original document in the power-point slides• Members are requested to check other Indian bodies active in the field of green ICT like FICCI, T

RAI, TEC (DoT), BIS, MNRE (Ministry for green energy). A document should be created with summarized information on activity of each Indian body in the field of Green ICT and liaison should be created where necessary.
