GeoProbe G10

With a proven track record and worldwide deployment by Tier 1 operators, the GeoProbe family remains at the center of Tektronix Communications' network monitoringportfolio. In keeping with the pace of network technology changes and dynamic mar-ket conditions, Tektronix Communications has evolved its hardware to meet changing customer needs.

Designed specifically to address high bandwidth interfaces and datacenter applica-tions, the NEBS-compliant GeoProbe G10 platform features a distributed architectureoptimized to handle high volume IP traffic with native support for both IPv4 and IPv6.

The G10 serves as a primary collection and correlation agent for Tektronix Communi-cations' Network Intelligence solution. Used to feed Iris applications, the G10 may bedeployed in combination with existing SpIprobes to provide a comprehensive view ofthe network.

High Performance Probe Supports High Capacity, High Bandwidth Networks

Store to Disk (S2D) ■ A key driver behind GeoProbe G10's processing power lies in the collection agent's ability

to stream traffic to disk. Supporting configurable raw packet capture rates of up to 6 Gbps (requires the deployment of 2 controller disk arrays), S2D utilizes an expandable storage array.

Low-Touch Installation, Configuration and Maintenance ■ The GeoProbe G10 supports automated workflow wizards to facilitate installation and

configuration tasks. In addition, scheduled group downloads streamline maintenance windows with built-in reversibility commands for ensuring upgrade integrity. With GeoProbe G10, all configuration changes are logged with UserID, Machine ID, and relevant timestamps.

Stability Statistics ■ Throughput, Disk Utilization/Health and Disk Wrap Times are proactively monitored with

threshold alarms for early notification and system administrator intervention.

GeoProbe G10

At the highest level, the G10 is comprised ofpurpose-specific connection, processing andapplication boards and I/O ports.

Available in two, interchangeableconfigurations, GeoProbe G10 offers thefollowing models to meet individual andchanging customer needs.

8x1 GE physical connection support withfield upgradability to a Mixed Model.

Mixed Model supports 8 physicalconnections (1GE or 10GE) with up to four10GE.

An uplink port on the application blade servesas the primary network interface whileOperations, Administration, and Maintenance(OAM) interfaces provide connectivity to ShelfManagement Modules.

Networking Requirements: Three connectionsand associated IP addresses.

Interface Support:

 10G: 10Gbase-SR (850nm, multi-mode) and10Gbase-LR (1310nm, single-mode)

 1G: 1000base-SX (850nm, multi-mode)and1000base-LX (1310nm, multi-mode orsingle-mode), 1000base-T (RJ-45, cat5)

All optical ports are LC-type connectors

Protocol Support:

Mobile Data and Data Centers protocols:Gn/Gi

 Next-Generation 4G Network protocols: LTE/EPC

 Multimedia and Convergence protocols: VoIP/IMS

Application Support through IrisView: Iris Performance Intelligence (IPI) Iris Session Analyzer (ISA) Iris Traffic Analyzer (ITA) Protocol Analyzer (PA)

Rackmount Requirements: With a 3Ufootprint, the chassis is available for 4-post andcenter-post (19- or 23-inch) rack type mountingwith supplied hardware

Power Consumption: 600W max, -40 to -72 VDC (15A max), 430W typical

Storage Array for S2D

The S2D subsystem enables the storage ofpackets and associated data on a separate, expandable disk array. Each disk array containsdual RAID controllers and supports RAID 0 and 5configurations.

While default settings enable the storage of allpackets for all protocols, users have full controlin not only limiting packet storage by specificprotocols but also in how those selectedpackets will be stored (with or withouttruncation). This provides maximum utility andefficient use of disk capacity.

Rackmount Requirements: As with theGeoProbe G10, the 2U storage array is availablefor 4-post and center-post rack type mountingwith supplied hardware.

Power Consumption*: 500W max, -40 to -72 VDC (12.5A max)

Recommended Cabling: 12 AWG or largercable for power and chassis ground(applies to both disk array and G10)

*Actual power consumption will be affected by thenumber of disks used.
