why earn an mba Today?

compeTence

an mba program should broaden your knowledge of business concepts and practices, and let you pursue the passions that point the way to your next career.

confidence

an mba program should give you opportunities to develop, practice and integrate new knowledge and skills until they become second nature.

connecTions

an mba program should dramatically increase your network of connections, putting you face to face with the people who will open the doors to future opportunities in your next career — whether they are peers, alumni, mentors or employers.

at foster, we believe there are three ways an mba program should develop your talent and prepare you for future career opportunities, whether in the private, public or non-profit sector.

year one: build your foundationYear One covers an integrated core of fundamental business concepts, skills and tools. This core wraps modules of varying length together for a solid foundation in the individual subjects—accounting, finance, marketing, operations management, and strategy—and an understanding of how they interrelate.

year Two: specializeYear Two focuses on your personal career objectives. You’ll delve deeper into relevant subjects, and build cross-functional skills. You’ll customize your program by mixing and matching elective courses from the Foster Full-time MBA curriculum or other UW graduate schools. In addition to elective courses, you’ll complete required courses in ethics and macroeconomics.

choose from a big menuThe Foster Full-time MBA Program offers a range of certificates, specializations and concurrent degrees you can pursue as electives—inside and outside the business school. Pursue a concurrent

degree in another field, collaborate with researchers on a new technology, or take your career to an international level. You can customize your MBA in many ways.

Think beyond bordersThe world today is smaller, so global opportunities for Foster graduates are bigger. Travel on a Global Business Study Tour, participate in a globally focused internship or study project, enter the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition, or add international studies to your academic schedule.

academics

competence in the disciplines of business is what you need to succeed in the marketplace. it’s what employers and investors are looking for. it’s what you know, and what you can do with what you know. That’s why the curriculum at foster stresses both sides of this equation, balancing theory with plenty of practice.

find room To grow

This is a place for exceptional individuals who want to make a difference in the world, whether as managers, consultants or entrepreneurs. Here, we’re less interested in social status, more interested in individual character. And we believe that sometimes doing good is as important as doing well.

Like the Foster School, the Northwest attracts creative, goal-oriented achievers from every corner of the globe, drawn by a wealth of opportunities to build a career, pursue an education, raise a family and live an active, balanced life. The forward-looking cities of Seattle, Portland and Vancouver on the lush, green west slope of the Cascades offer a rich mix of cultural flavors, with Asian accents especially strong. The range of industries here is similarly diversified and future-oriented, with strengths in manufacturing, information and communication technology, biotechnology, global health, smart energy, international trade, film, natural resources and tourism. The vitality of these urban centers, their thriving downtown scenes and their residential neighborhoods, complements the dramatic natural environment that surrounds them – the dense evergreen forests, towering mountain ranges, and rugged coastlines that each offer endless recreational opportunities.

if you want to stand out from the crowd, come to foster. you’ll fit right in.
