So we chose a business school that prepares us to excel as team players— and team leaders.

Foster MBAs learn how to harness the power of talented professionals with diverse backgrounds, knowledge, and skills to achieve goals much greater than any one of us could reach on our own.

We learn from great coaches—faculty, staff, and mentors—who get to know us on a first-name basis.

We work together to meet the challenge, whether it’s winning a case competition, completing a consulting project, or raising funds for charity.

We support each other’s career aspirations by sharing information about opportunities and coaching fellow students before interviews.

We lend a hand to the students who follow in our footsteps, just as we reach out to the alumni and executives who open doors to our future careers.

We work together to get the job done, whatever it takes, and celebrate our accomplishments together at the end of the day.

Students, faculty, staff, mentors, alumni—we’re all part of the Foster team. Whatever our individual goals, we’re in this to win.

together we will.

Grew up: Seattle

BA in Business and Economics, University of Puget Sound

Before Foster: Worked supporting global health projects and research studies in Africa and Asia

Extracurricular: VP for Healthcare and Biotech Association, Consulting Society

“The most valuable parts of my MBA program were the practical experience projects, where you have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned. You get an opportunity to experience in the real world what you don’t get in the classroom. That combination gives you a really solid platform to jump from when you get to the business world.”

leArN By doiNgAt Foster, transforming learning into action takes many forms—courses within and outside of the core that provoke our thinking and stimulate discussion, a leadership development program that challenges us to practice our skills, career planning based on our past experience and where we want to go, student organizations that let us collaborate with classmates who share our passions, internships with dynamic companies, and consulting projects that give us an opportunity to solve real-world problems.

• Apply your knowledge and skills through consulting projects, competitions, and internships

• Develop leadership skills in student organizations and participate in the Fritzky Leadership Fellows Program

• Build your international experience with study tours—learn how business is done on the ground in the global economy

Grew up: England and Japan

BA in Economics, Barnard College

Before Foster: Worked in finance and travel industries in Tokyo

Extracurricular: VP of International Affairs for the MBA Association

“It was important for me that the school I chose to attend had support for international students. The statistics showed me that Foster has a fairly high composition of international students. I think there’s good reason for that. Seattle’s a very welcoming city. You walk around the streets and you see lots of different faces—Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, African. It’s very diverse. That attracts international students, in addition to all the great companies here.”

“The Foster MBA Program is much smaller than comparable programs. It gives you a wide range of options. You can come into the program with your mind set on doing something and then realize halfway through that it might not be your thing, but you still have the chance to step out and do something different. A small program where I had lots of options and could get personalized attention from career services was perfect for me because I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do after earning my MBA.”

FiNd yourSelF hereThe Foster MBA Program is small by intention. Smaller entering classes mean we get more time with faculty and more attention from counselors and career coaches. Professors and lecturers get to know our names on the first day of class. The intimate size means that we have a voice in fine-tuning the MBA Program and making it more effective. We have an opportunity to create custom programs and concurrent degrees, tailoring an MBA of our own design. And we get to know everyone in our class.

• Small cohort size and small class sizes make earning a Foster MBA a more personal experience

• Tailor your elective courses to fit your long-term career objectives

• Work with coaches in MBA Career Management to focus your career goals and build your personal brand

• Customize your program with certificate programs or a dual graduate degree

• Access courses and programs outside the business school at one of the world’s great research universities

BroAd ANd deePFoster’s integrated core curriculum helps us relate key concepts in each discipline to each other as we learn them and put them into practice. Many of our professors rank among the top researchers in their fields, and they share insights based on their leading-edge research in the classroom. The program’s small size lets faculty coordinate classwork and experiential learning to reflect the complex realities of the business world.

At Foster, we build a firm foundation of shared knowledge and skills in our first year. In our second year, we choose elective courses tailored to our personal career objectives.

“People here are competitive in their own way, but they’re also compassionate in what they do, and compassionate with each other. Students feel the sense of community here because they are like-minded. They have their own goals, but they are here to help each other out as well. An internship or a job will come up, and people will help each other get it even though they’re competing for it as well. It’s just that type of student body. That’s our profile.”

Grew up: Beijing, China

BS in Business Administration, University of Southern California

Before Foster: Worked in marketing and public relations in China and the US

Extracurricular: Student ambassador, peer advisor

“I got so much help from peer advisors last year that I decided to become a peer advisor myself. I helped first year students get through the very difficult time of job hunting, internship searching and interviews. Students came to me for general advice, help in editing a résumé or cover letter, and tips for interview preparation. I wanted to guide them in seeking a job they would actually like after they graduated, which is the reason a lot of us came to business school.”
