commanded you.”commanded you.”

Genesis 32:1-2Matthew 28:18-20

“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Fulfilling the Great Commission

1. The Great Commission is about making disciples.

Genesis 32:1-2Ephesians 4:11-15

“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Fulfilling the Great Commission

1. The Great Commission is about making disciples.

2. Making disciples involves teaching them to do/be everything Christ commanded the first apostles.

7 Steps of Disciple Making

1. Mentor tells us how to do something.

2. We ask questions while he clarifies.

3. We watch the mentor do it (He shows us)

4. The mentor watches us do it (we mess up, give up and try again.)

5. We do it by ourselves and check back with the mentor for fine tuning.

6. We do it by ourselves and prosper(we experience the applause of our mentor)

7. We become mentors to others.

Genesis 32:1-2Matthew 9:35-38

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Genesis 32:1-2Matthew 10:1

“He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.”

Genesis 32:1-2Matthew 10:5-8

“These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.‘ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”

Genesis 32:1-2Matthew 10:24-25

"A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.”

Genesis 32:1-2Luke 9:6, 10-11

" 6So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.”

10When the apostles returned, they reported to Jesus what they had done. Then he took them with him and they withdrew by themselves to a town called Bethsaida, 11but the crowds learned about it and followed him. He welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.
