Colorado is home to the second most breweries per capita in the United States. Whether you are looking for

some of the country’s most famous brews or a local nanobrewery, Colorado’s Front Range has it all. And many

of the Front Range Breweries have won awards for their quality brews!

Colorado has a long history of brewing.

The first brewery, Rocky Mountain

Brewery, was founded in 1859 by Solo-

mon, Taecher & Co. The brewing move-

ment has been growing ever since. The

brewing world was revolutionized in

1959, when Coors introduced the first

aluminum can. One of the nation’s first

microbreweries, and Colorado’s first,

Boulder Beer, appeared in 1979. The

Great American Beer Festival, started in

1981 in Boulder, has grown into the old-

est and largest beer competition in the

United States. It is now held in Denver

every fall.

In the north of Colorado’s Front Range,

you can enjoy a variety of brewery ex-

periences. A popular stop in Fort Collins

is the brewing giant Anheuser-Busch’s

Colorado outpost, where you can check

out the Budweiser Clydesdales at their training facility and taste the latest creations. Then stop by New Bel-

gium Brewing, a showcase for green building techniques and sustainable business practices. From there you

can visit one of the other 14 microbreweries in Greeley and

Fort Collins for a taste of some unique and award-winning brews.

A visit to the communities of Loveland and Longmont will net you several options for a tasty brew, includ-

ing the first microbrew in a can at Oskar Blues. Left Hand Brewing Company out of Longmont celebrates the

area’s ties to the Arapahoe Native American Tribe, taking the inspirations for their name from Chief Niwot,

which translates to “left hand.” From there you can head up the Big Thompson Canyon to the gateway to

Rocky Mountain National Park – Estes Park. There you can enjoy tasty brews with a mouthwatering burger at

the Estes Park Brewery while surrounded by the majesty of the Rocky Mountains.

Boulder is home to multiple microbreweries, offering a vast choice of award-winning brews, along with excel-

lent pub fare. Enjoy your beer while experiencing the unique culture of one of America’s prime outdoor loca-

tions.

Many of the breweries along the Front Range offer free brewery tours which allow you to see first hand how

your favorite beers are made. Enjoy tasting one-of-a-kind beers right from the source all while getting a

glimpse at the behind the scenes action.

With over 50 breweries along the Front Range, you’re sure to find a beverage for everyone! Enjoy your tour,

and please drink responsibly!
