Balwyn North Primary School Vision

Every four years Victorian Government schools write a School Strategic Plan (SSP) from which an Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) is written. 2016 is a year of review for Balwyn North Primary School and as such we are in an exciting phase where we begin to set the direction of the school over the next few years. As part of this process it is important for school communities to embrace a shared vision based on a set of core beliefs to which the community can commit. The school improvement priorities as highlighted in the SSP and AIP should align with the school vision. Creating a shared vision that is meaningful to all stakeholders is an important aspect of this process. It requires all members of the community to identify and share their core beliefs and describe how their ideal school would look. Over the past few weeks we have been working with staff and students to gain insight into what they value at Balwyn North Primary School. Parent partnerships play a vital role at our school and as such we would like to invite your feedback to the following questions;

What do we value?

What makes Balwyn North Primary School unique?

What do we want our school to be like?

A separate notice about this will come home with your children in the next few days. The feedback you provide (along with students and staff) will contribute to a planned session on Tuesday 24th May (6:30pm-8:00pm) where you are invited to the next phase of creating our school vision and discuss the future directions of our school.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Cross Country Last Friday all students participated in our school’s Cross Country. Once again this day proved to be a huge success! Thank you to our wonderful Physical Education Teacher, Mr D and to all of his many helpers on the day. Our students certainly had a lot of fun and participated with pride. A number of our students have qualified to represent our school at the District Cross Country which will be held on Friday 13th May. Congratulations one and all on a fantastic day.

Attitudes to School Survey The Attitudes to School survey is an annual survey for Years 5 to 12 students offered by the Department of Education and Training. Over the past week, we have been conducting this survey with our students in Years 5 and 6 to gain a better understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. We will use the results of the survey to plan programs and activities to improve your child's experience at school. All responses to the survey are anonymous. The results will be reported back to the school via the annual reporting process and we will continue to work with students to make Balwyn North Primary School the best it can be! Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information. Erika Bienert Tony Stokes Principal Assistant Principal

Cyber Safety - BNPS is an eSmart School

At Balwyn North Primary School we are committed to educating our students about appropriate and safe online behaviours, so they are better equipped to protect their own wellbeing. In class, children engage in regular cyber safety discussions and also have the chance to experience the many educational opportunities that the Internet has to offer in a safe and supported manner. At Balwyn North Primary School we col-lect and review data on Cybersafety concerns on a regular basis, in order to support our students to safely navigate the online world. Internet Safety Tip for Parents

.Remind your child to keep personal information private. YAPPY is a useful acronym to

remind children of the personal information they should not share on public online spaces (blogs, forums etc.) – Your full name, address, phone number, passwords, your plans.
