Hi Tom,

Do you have a short bio which you could email to me to use in your introduction on Thursday evening?

Ed,

As we spoke earlier, I will be speaking at the meeting. I could use 30 to 40 minutes to cover the topics beginning from the project description, financing details, and dispelling some of ridiculous myths the opponents are spreading. I thought of a title like "Why is it sensible to invest $3.6 billion on transit".

I will bring a media consultant with me to help me with the Powerpoint. We can bring the equipment other than the screen.

We are OK with non-vegetarian menu.

Hi Tom,

In order for the Hawaii Estate Planning Council dinner meeting later this month to avoid a "non-productive argument", we have eliminated some of the speakers who we had originally contacted for this panel discussion. We hope to have someone from your office and a member of the City Council on hand to provide some perspective from the executive and legislative branches of the City.

How long will you need for your presentation? Anything up to 40 minutes should be fine. Will it be a PowerPoint? The Plaza Club has a pull-down screen, but you will need to furnish the laptop and projector. Do you have a suggested title for the presentation?

How many will be included in your party? We want to offer a dinner for you and others who you wish to bring with you. In that regard, we have a choice of regular or vegetarian menu.

Please respond by the end of the week, if you can. We would like to provide the members with a meeting notice by the beginning of next week.

Ed,

Thank you for your invitation. As discussed, either myself or other member of the transit team will be there provided it is not turning into a transit/no-transit debate. I'd like to avoid the non-productive argument now that the fixed guideway decision has been made. We'll let you know who will attend once we sort out our calendars..

Aloha,

Thanks for your cooperation in response to our request for a speaker on the subject of rail transit, at our monthly dinner meeting on April 26, 2007. We anticipate substantial member interest in a discussion of the implementation of the Honolulu City Council's decision to proceed with the rail transit project.

For your information, our monthly dinner meetings are held at the Plaza Club, on the 20 th floor of the Pioneer Plaza Building. Attendance at the meetings typically range between 50 and 60 members and guests. No-host cocktails begin at 5:30 with dinner at 6:15.

Because we anticipate four speakers in a panel presentation, we will begin the presentation at 6:45 and try to end about 8:15. The other speakers in the panel will likely be 2 members of the City Council (possibly Charles Djou and Nestor Garcia) and either Panos Prevedouros or Cliff Slater.

You can learn more about our organization by visiting our web site at hawaiiestateplanningcouncil.org .
