New for 2014: The Sunbeam MCC are celebrating their 90th birthday in 2014. Founded in 1924, The Sunbeam MCC is one of the oldest motor cycle clubs in the country. Don’t be mislead by the name, although starting as a one-make club, they quickly embraced all makes and now cater for all pre-war motorcycles and sporting trials. Their premier event is the Pioneer Run, the London to Brighton for pre-1915 motorcycles which takes place on Sunday 13th April. For more details see their website; www.sunbeam-mcc.co.uk. This year, all the machines competing in The Pioneer run will be at least 100 years old, and to tie-in with this we’ll have a themed display of 1914 machines. Motorcycles entered include an extremely rare Veloce, a brace of ex-WD Douglas, a TT model Triumph and a Roadster model Triumph. Continuing the Veteran theme, Dave Masters will be signing copies of his new book, ‘The Fiery Wheel – Ixion of the Motor Cycle’, an interesting study of the life and times of Canon Basil Davies, one of our foremost early motorcycling journalists. New for 2014, in response to our online survey there’ll be hands-on demonstrations from father and son team Steve & Andy Marks of The Magneto Guys www.themagnetoguys.co.uk in the Queens Jubilee Show Hall. Make sure to visit them with your magneto and dynamo queries.

There’s also a new award with a cash prize for the Shiniest Bike, courtesy of Andy Wagstaff of A1 Abrasives. Find them today in the Abergavenny Building, or visit their new www.a1abrasives.co.uk
