RULES and REGULATIONS 1. The Show will open at 7.00 am. 2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required. 3. YKC Members' Stakes will be judged at 8.00 am each day; Breed judging will commence at 9.00 am in all other rings. Exhibitors are

responsible for being on time for the judging of their classes. 4. a) Exhibits may be removed from the Show after their judging has been completed. b) Exhibits may not be removed any earlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show

Management and then only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club. c) The Show will close half an hour after all judging has been completed at which time dogs must be removed. 5. Entry Fees: £26.00 for the first entry for breeds with CCs on offer at this Show; £5.00 for each subsequent entry with the same dog;

£12.00 for the first entry for breeds without CCs on offer at this Show, Stakes, YKC, AVNSC and AV Imported Breed Register; £5.00 for each subsequent entry with the same dog. KC Breeders' Competition: £15.00 per team. Not for Competition: £10.00 per dog. Catalogues: pre-paid with entries £4.00; on the day £5.00. Car Park: £5.00 per car pre-paid with entries; £12.00 per car on the day if not pre-paid. Acknowledgement of postal entry only if a self addressed stamped postcard is sent with entries. All cheques to have name, address, telephone number and breed on the reverse.

6. Prize Money on offer in Stakes classes only - see classification for details. Prize Money must be claimed at the Show. The Treasurer will be in the Secretary's Office between 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm each day to pay prize money.

7. The committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 8. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 9. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 10. Best Puppy in Show: Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed

and has been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best in Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best of Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.

a. Shows Judged on the Group System (Definition; Shows judged on Group System - Refer to Regulation 27B.) 1) Best Puppy in Breed: A Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breed classes. A Best Puppy

must be declared from the Any Variety Not Separately classified class(es). A Best Puppy must be declared from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register class(es).

2) Best Puppy in Group: Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Puppy Group placings must be selected from:- a) Those puppies declared Best Puppy in Breed. b) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each group or on each day. c) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register classes in each group or on each day. 3) Best Puppy in Show: Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners. 11. Best in Show: The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and has been declared Best of Breed, Best Any Variety

Not Separately Classified or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register. a. Shows Judged on the Group System: 1) Best of Breed: Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have

received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared.

NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/ Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register award relevant to a Category 3 Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon.

2) Best of Group: Best of Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from:- a) The Best of Breed winners in each group. b) The dog declared Best from Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each Group or on each day. c) The dog declared Best from Any Variety Imported Breed Register class or classes in each Group or on each day. NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified/ Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register

from a breed designated by the Kennel Club as a Category 3 Breed is not eligible to compete in the Group competition unless it has passed an examination by the Show’s Veterinary Surgeon. If the dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant Group.

3) Best in Show: Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are requried for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management.

13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

14. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F Annex B - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to

ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of the Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.• Whentravellingtoashowpleasetakeamomenttoconsiderwhethertheroutetotheshowisonabusyholidayroute,andleave

earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.• Ifyourvehicleisnotair-conditionedseriouslyconsiderwhethertravellingtotheshowisagoodideaatall.• Thevehicleshouldbeasfullyventilatedaspossible,andplentyofstopsshouldbetaken,withlotsofwateravailabletodrink.• Ensureyourdogisnotsittinginfullsunlight.Thereshouldbeplentyoffreeflowingairaroundthedog.• Whenattheshow,neverleaveyourdoginthevehicle.• Keepthedogintheshade-takeyourownshadeforexamplealargeumbrellaandalwayshaveplentyofwateravailabletodrink

so your dog stays well hydrated.• Avoidyourdogtakingpartinunnecessaryexertion,orfromstandinginexposedsunlightforextendedlengthsoftime.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

18. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

19. East of England Championship Dog Show is held under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Every exhibitor, by submitting an entry will be taken to have accepted both the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations and, also, the East of England Agricultural Society Rules, Bye-Laws and Regulations (copies are obtainable from the Kennel Club and the Society respectively).

20. All entries must be made on or before Friday, 18th May 2018 (Postmark), upon forms enclosed for that purpose. Entry Fees must accompany the entry forms or the entry will not be accepted. Each Exhibitor must use a separate entry form. Entry Fees will not be refunded once an entry has been made. Entries can also be made on-line at www.fossedata.co.uk up until midnight on Monday, 28th May 2018.

21. The committee reserves the right to itself the power to refuse entries on reasonable grounds or to exclude any dog which is not in a fit state for exhibition, either from disease, vice, natural or other causes, and if such exclusion takes place before or after the dog is judged, the entrance fee will be forfeited. One of the Veterinary Surgeons will be on duty at all times whilst the Show is open and will be empowered to exclude any dog which he considers is not in a fit state for exhibition either from disease, vice or any other cause.

22. NOTE - All exhibits must be removed from the benches not later than 30 minutes after completion of judging. 23. No dog shall be absent from its bench except for the purpose of being prepared for exhibition, judged or exercised, or by order of the

Veterinary Surgeon or Show Committee. After being prepared for exhibition, judged or exercised, the dog must be replaced on its bench. No dog shall be absent from its bench for the purpose of being exercised at any time for longer than 30 minutes. The Committee will not be responsible for Exhibitors missing their classes.

24. Grooming areas will be provided for the convenience of Exhibitors desiring to clean and prepare their dogs for exhibition, and no Exhibitor will be permitted to clean and prepare dogs for exhibition anywhere in the Show except in these designated areas. Grooming areas should be left clean and free from hair.

25. Should any of the Judges be prevented from fulfilling their engagements, the Committee reserve to themselves the right of appointing other Judges to act. Exhibitors will, in that case, be at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be returned (vide Kennel Club Regulations).

26. Gangways must be kept clear and any obstruction or dog boxes left in gangways will be removed by authorised officials. 27. The Committee are concerned for the care and safety of the dogs at the Show, and for any other property, but it must be understood by

Exhibitors and purchasers of goods that the Agricultural Society will not be responsible for the loss, detention of, or damage to any dogs or other property, or for injuries to any person whether arising from accidents or other causes whatever, or for any acts or omission of themselves, their officers, agents, servants or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are received.

28. Should any question arise not provided for by these Rules or by the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations, the decision of the committee of the Society shall be final, subject only to appeal to the Kennel Club.

29. Exhibitors' Passes: Exhibitors not receiving their passes by Monday, 18th June 2018, should contact Fosse Data Systems Ltd (01788 860960 / E-mail: [email protected]).

30. 31. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).

32. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved amongst other things to have been: a) registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge, this shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency; b) exhibited without payment of appropriate entry fees.

33. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 34. Correspondence: All correspondence, enquiries, etc. should be addressed to the Dog Show Secretary, Mrs P. Dufty, Triken, Watergate,

Quadring-Eaudyke, Spalding, Lincolnshire PE11 4PZ. Tel: 01775 840295 / E-mail: [email protected]. 35. Photography and Video Rights: The Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to the attention of

exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors. It is a condition of all those attending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or made at the venue without express written permission of the organisers. The taking of photographs in the show venue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and internet sites - this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs of general views of the Show, provided that these are for private use. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or it is clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.

36. The attracting of the attention of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited. It is the duty of the Judge, steward or Show Management noticing such attraction to ask that it cease.

YKC SUMMER ACTIVITY WEEKEND AT EAST OF ENGLANDThe Young Kennel Club is super excited about our activity weekend which is being held alongside the East of England - Just Dogs Live show in July. The weekend will feature dog training in Agility, Heelwork to Music, Handling, Obedience and Rally and everyone will get to try every activity and will be put into groups based on their ability.There will also be a mini social programme throughout the day and evening, which will give dogs a chance to rest and members an opportunity to get to know one another.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING BENCHING & IDENTIFICATION OF DOGS

It is a Kennel Club requirement that exhibitors display the exhibit/bench number on their crate, cage or container at all times. This is particularly important when cages etc. are not on benches, and at unbenched shows.

Each exhibitor is responsible for providing their own crate or cage identification and should note that the original exhibit/bench number card, as provided by the show society, must not be used for this purpose.

It is important to be able to contact exhibitors and identify dogs where a dog may be in distress or where the crate might be blocking a gangway.

At benched shows soft crates may only be put on benches if they are the appropriate size for both the dog and the bench, and the crate can be securely attached to the bench.

Both of these points were introduced with the safety of all in mind, but most importantly that of the dog, and to minimise potential incidents and injuries.

Exhibitors should also be reminded that Show Regulation F(1).17 requires that dogs should be present on their benches at all times except when being judged, prepared for exhibition or exercised.

All other Stakes class winners (where there is a final) from the first and second days will be given £20.00 expenses if they compete in the final competiton on the third day. N.B. Winners from the first two days should see the Secretary to obtain passes and approximate judging times for returning to compete on the final day.

EXHIBITOR PASSES - FOR ON-LINE ENTRIES ONLYYou will not receive your Exhibitors Pass through the post because they will be delivered to you through your on-line account. You will be informed by an e-mail when your passes are ready, which will be approximately two weeks before the show.

The e-mail will include details on how to print your Exhibitors Pass and any other Show Information. You must print your Exhibitors Pass and take it to the show.

Exhibitors making postal entries will receive their Exhibitors Passes by post in the usual way.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSESIn the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show award that counts towards the title of Champion under the Rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.Wins at Championship Shows in breed classes where Challenge Certificates are not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows.In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members' classes or competing for Members' Specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class i.e. Friday, 11th May 2018.Wins in Variety classes do not count for entry in Breed classes but when entering in Variety classes, wins in both Breed and Variety classes must be counted. A first prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value. If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options: (1) Withdrawal The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulation 20. (2) Transfer a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height the Show Secretary shall transfer it to

the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted, to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

b) If an exhibit is entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy class, Puppy class or Junior class, which is over age but under twelve calendar months of age, eighteen calendar months of age or twenty four calendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy class, Junior class or Yearling class respectively for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling class to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to any other class.

SHOWGROUND SERVICES VETERAN STAKES For dogs of not less than seven years of age on the first day of the Show.KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME STAKES For dogs that have achieved their GCDS Bronze Award Certificate

or above.KENNEL CLUB BREEDERS' COMPETITION Each team will consist of a minimum of three and maximum of four dogs of one breed,

all bred by the same breeder or breeding partnership. The breeder enters the class and then arranges which dogs are exhibited on the day of the show (from those dogs duly entered for exhibition in another class at this show). Please clearly state the name and affix of the registered breeder(s). Entries will not be taken on the day of the show. Teams will be awarded points/prize money in the KC Breeders' Competition as follows: Points 1st; 30; 2nd 15; 3rd 10; 4th 5. Prize Money 1st Non ABS Prize Fund £20; ABS Prize Fund £25. Please note that Assured Breeders will be credited with a higher prize value. These points will be recorded in the Kennel Club Breeders Competition record book through the year. The minimum qualification for the Crufts final will be 50 points, with a maximum of 40 finalists including the winning teams from the European and World Dog Shows’ breeders competition. Our Dogs will collate the points and publish a leader board through the year.

YKC MEMBERS' STAKES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qualifying stakes class. Dogs must be on the Kennel Club Breed register to compete in a YKC stakes competition. The YKC method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. If a member and dog combination accumulate 30 points or more, they will qualify for Crufts. Points will be allocated for the Dog and Handler pairing. All points are reset to 0 on 1st February each year. All pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club Breed Register. The dog must be registered; a. Solely or jointly in the member’s name or b. In the name of a close member of the family (i.e a group of people related by blood or marriage) and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted - the dog must be handled by the registered YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog at the qualifier on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class, unless agreed by the YKC Office prior to the show. Members must be aged 6 -24 years (members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a members 25th birthday. Therefore if a member is aged 25 years or over by the first day of Crufts they will be unable to compete in any YKC class. Please keep this in mind when entering qualifiers throughout the competing year. In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions. YKC MEMBERS' HANDLING CLASSES Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into an YKC qualifying class. Classes for handling are decided by the handler’s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday); 12-17 years (12 years and up to, but not including 18th birthday); 18-24 years (18 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please enter the class age category you will be on the day of the qualifier. If you should move into the next age range after you have already qualified, the YKC will invite you into the correct age group at Crufts. The method for Crufts qualification is a points based system as follows: 1st Place = 30 points; 2nd Place = 15 points; 3rd Place = 10 points. Members will receive points per group (i.e. if they handle a Bloodhound, they will get points towards the Hound group).
