From our Pastor...

In the Parish Center hallway, you will see a cross decorated with cloth that leads to the Advent Wreath. The birth of Christ is profoundly connected

with his death. Jesus is born to die. The reason for his life is to save us from sin, to give us a way out of a cycle of pride, fear, un-forgiveness, guilt and shame. The name “Jesus” literally means “God saves.” The God-man took on all our sins, becoming sin, so that in dying with sin, he may give us new life—eternal life. He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. At the beginning of his life, he rested in a wooden box--a feeding-trough. At the end of his life, he rested on a wooden cross, and we feed on him in the life-giving Eucharist. Jesus is born to die. We are born to live—forever, eternally, in timeless bliss with our Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Blessings,

Intentions must be made in person at the rectory and cannot be taken over the phone. Additional intentions can be given as memorials or submitted to be sent to the retired priests in the Archdiocese.

ADORERS NEEDED We are in desperate need of adorers so that Jesus is not left unattended. Our parish has had Perpetual Adoration since 1961. We need to continue our beautiful tradition. Covid-19 has made our adorers fearful and many are making the choice not to come to attend Jesus. The Scotus chapel is safe, clean and you are easily

able to social distance as there are very few or limited attend-ance. Please consider taking an hour to be with Jesus. If you cannot take an hour would you consider being a substitute ador-er? We promise it will change your life and bring you closer to Our Lord. If you want to visit Jesus, He is always in the church (doors are unlocked between 6:00am - 7:00pm) but only exposed perpetually in the Scotus Chapel.

NEW LITURGICAL YEAR Our new Breaking Bread missalettes are availa-ble. If your household would like to request a copy, please call the church office at 402-564-7151 or email [email protected]. You will be respon-sible for keeping your book, bringing it to Mass and taking it home again!

60 YEARS OF PERPETUAL ADORATION

Check out the new addition to our Home Page at https://stboncc.com. We have added a “digital” clock timer that is continually counting forward since our Adora-tion inception date, February 14, 1961 as we are quickly ap-proaching 60 years of Perpetual Adoration!

“It’s a wonderful thing to contemplate as you see all those sec-onds, minutes, hours, days and years ticking by and realize how many thousands and thousands of people have been gifted with that personal and special time with Jesus. Imagine the conversa-tions and lives that have been changed!”

-Tim Cumberland (Faithful Adorer since 2016)

See how easy it is to use scrip cards, and help us earn money for our school! One way scrip profits help our school is that the profits are paying for our annual Internet costs for the entire school and parish offices (about $4,000), so this cost is covered in our budget! This is one of the many ways scrip helps our school and parish!

Please consider making an end of the year donation to our grade school and to the Sco-tus Central Catholic SEF 16 fund drive. Remem-ber that for the year 2020 you may deduct up to

$300 in cash donations to charity without itemizing on your tax return. In addition, you can normally deduct up to 60% of your adjusted gross income via charitable donations; however the CARES Act eliminated the 60% limit for the year 2020.
