FOCUS ! Ignore the noise around and have an absolute focus on your goals.

Sometimes it feels like our hard-work goes unnoticed. This can be dis-heartening. Especially if we ourselves do not recognize the specific achievement. December at FIIB changes all this. We rung in the gong sounds 40 times this month for our collective achievements in making FIIB a great institution. From institute-level awards, to our students winning accolades at inter-college level, to faculty presenting/publishing in prestigious platforms, to students achieving success at the placement season -all victories have been very dear. The enthusiasm with which everybody came out to congratulate the folks in the spotlight speaks of the sense of pride that we all feel. I’m hoping for more reasons to hear the gong sounds in the next coming months! This will happen if all of us (individuals and teams) ask ourselves the following two questions regularly: What have I/We achieved over the past few weeks? What milestones do I/We hope to reach soon? Best Regards, Radhika Shrivastava

We bring to you an interesting conversation we had with winners of Oratory Skills Competition which was conducted on Good Governance Day. Anuradha, Prateek and Anshika who won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize respectively sharing their story with us.

Tête-à-Tête with winners of Oratory Skills Competition

How do you feel to be the winner of the competition and of course the huge prize money? Anu: It feels great to have won this competition and the prize money of Rs 15,000 was a great encouragement. (Smiles) Pra: Being winner of the competition proved one thing that even if you are nervous or unprepared; never show it up to the audience. Prove yourself as one of the most confident candidate and you will be the one. Price money of 10,000 means a lot to me , but its pinching that I couldn't win Rs 15,000. (Laughs) Ans: It feels great to be a part of such competitions and showcase our skills in front of everyone. Definitely, emerging as a winner is a huge success in itself How do you plan to spend this money? Anu: I plan to splurge as the prize money is quite big!! Pra: My friends are party snatchers, I have to treat them. In addition, some amount of this money will be spent to do my bit for the ones who need care in this. This will also make me do my part in the good governance and help my Government though in a micro level but it will. Ans: As New Year is round the corner, I have descent amount of money to spend. How tough was the competition? Anu: The topic was tough and required a lot if research and application of existing knowledge. The other speakers were exemplary and the competition was tough and also more interesting because of it. Pra: Competition was tough, the other speakers were quite competitive and this made this competition quite interesting. Ans: Competition was tough as all the finalists were trying their level best and moreover, the topic was really challenging to deal with. According to you, what all does it take to practice good governance? Anu: The day Indian citizens realize their responsibility, the Good Governance will look like a practical solution; as it is rightly said, “Charity begins at home.” Pra: Good governance is nothing but our participation in government and this will not be fulfilled till we leave our comfort zones and really be a part of this governing system. No Mr. Modi can achieve good governance without our participation. Our duty does not end just after we vote but actually it begins at that point of time. We need to do our part such as stop bribing, helping needy, respecting women, etc. We remember our rights but the day we will feel responsible and remember our duties good governance will be achieved. Ans: To practice good governance, it is very necessary for us as citizens to walk hand in hand with the government and make our country achieve great heights. Any message for other students Anu: All I can say is there is no harm in participating you might just win and more then that you will gain more confidence and build a lot of diverse skills. Pra: Students should take part in such competitions, these not only enhances skills but also gives you the confident to stand up in front of audience. We all are management students and management always mean to be an all-rounder at every sphere. Don’t get scared of the stage or have the fear to fail as “Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.” Ans: Other students must also take part in such activities as it would give them good exposure and build confidence in them.
