On August 3, 2016, at around 10 a.m., a suspect driving the pictured Mercedes Benz shot a 25-year-old Newark resident in the 600 block of 15 th Avenue before fleeing. The victim was treated at Rutgers University Medical center where he remains in stable condition. Detectives are looking to question the occupants of a Honda Fit that was seen near the shooting scene. While police are actively searching for the suspect, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets. This investigation is active and ongoing. Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose is urging anyone with information about the shooter, the whereabouts of the Mercedes Benz, the Honda Fit or its occupants to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1- 877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or 1-877-NWK-GUNS (1-877-695-4867). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
