FOODPRO – OVER THE YEARS

Food processing industry is one of the largest industries in India and ranks fifth in terms of production, consumption and exports. The Indian food market is estimated at over US$ 182 billion, and accounts for about two thirds of the total Indian retail market. According to McKinsey & Co, the retail food sector in India is likely to grow from around US$ 70 billion in 2008 to US$ 150 billion by 2025, accounting for a large chunk of the world food industry, which would grow from US$ 175 billion in 2008 to US$ 400 billion by 2025.

India with a huge potential of being a food processing hub is benefited from a large agriculture sector, abundant livestock, and cost competitiveness, looking at the Investment opportunities to arise in agriculture, food infrastructure, and contract farming with diverse agro-climatic conditions the Government of India aims to boost growth in the food processing sector by leveraging reforms such as 100 per cent foreign direct investment (FDI) in marketing of food products and various incentives at central and state government level along with a strong focus on supply chain infrastructure.

Confederation of Indian Industry with the aim of providing a great business platform to aid the Food Processing Industry in achieving better growth launched Foodpro in the year 1995, a biennial event on Food Processing, Packaging & Technology. The event took a growth path favoring the industry by serving its ultimate goal of making a progress in business through showcasing ideas, innovations and development.

Foodpro has once again proved to be a leading platform for Food processing industry. Foodpro 2017 has seen a new phase of change with introduction of two Concurrent Shows; Coldstore India 2017 and T-Food 2017 (Back to Basics) and witnessed phenomenal growth in terms of Area and size of exhibitors. The Show also witnessed growing number of Supporters.

GLIMPSE OF FOODPRO 2017

Foodpro 2017 witnessed presence of 210 exhibitors and footprints of over 15,000 nos. of visitors.

 

As a value addition to Foodpro 2017 this year, two concurrent shows were held viz., ColdStoRe India 2017 and T-Food (Traditional Food) 2017.

ColdStoRe India 2017 focused on the complete cold chain right from primary cold storage facility for food grains and fruits at Farm Level to high end cold storage for meat and food products including the important sector of Cold / Refrigerated Transportation.

T-Food, a traditional food festival, brought awareness about the traditional and local foods, especially millets. The Show presented newer recipes of cooking traditional foods and provided opportunity to entrepreneurs to showcase the developments in processing of Traditional Food.

 

The Conferences focused on the following topics

Coinciding with Foodpro 2017, CII organized Sectoral Conferences on Food Processing and Packaging Technologies, Cold Chain Technologies and Traditional Foods. Around 250 senior personnel representing CEO's, Industry leaders & senior executives of leading manufacturers of processed & packaged foods, technology providers, Post-harvest Technology, Processing equipment manufacturers, Producer companies, food safety solutions provider, Exporters; Retail chains and Government agencies participated in the conferences.
