The Indian food industry was poised for huge growth. Based on the scope for value addion, the food processing

industry has become a high profile sector, he said.

Consistent growth in demand for high value food products combined with strongly complemenng supply

strengths has helped in the creaon of a posive outlook for the processed food segment, he further added.

However, the industry is facing constraints like non-availability of adequate infrastructure facilies, lack of

adequate quality control and tesng infrastructure, seasonalies of raw materials, taxaon issues, high packaging

cost, affordability and cultural preference for fresh food.

The CII Mission was to make India the food factory of the world. There should be a mission mode on food

there should be the ease of doing business on regulatory issues. The industry on its part should give great emphasis

There should also be massive mobilisaon of skills and talents for the success of the mission ̀ Food From India', he

said. He called for close collaboraon with the government, industry and farmers, the promoon of co-operave

farming with the latest technologies, and value-added crops. Only the food industry can ensure inclusive growth in

‘Food from India can feed the World’

Chennai, August 28. India's potenal to feed the world with `Food From India' can be made true with the

technology from The Netherlands. It is planning to set up 10 centres of excellence for food processing to find

technological soluons for the agriculture sector and its various subsectors in India in collaboraon with the State

governments, universies and private sector companies said Mr Alphonsus Stoelinga, Ambassador to India,

The food industry in India depends on two important pillars of the economy, the industry and agriculture, he said.

“There is a terary step in food processing which is food engineering. Spices and raw foods can be processed to

food colours, flavours and fragrances that can be used in other industries also, he said. The Netherlands from very

tradional agriculture, through so many years, developed the state-of-the art agriculture technologies with the

support of the government, the private sector and the knowledge instuons, he added. Mr Stoelinga said this

golden triangle of government, private sector and knowledge instuons can help India develop its food
