Youth Church League Basketball 2015! They Shoot, They Score!
This season, our church had FOUR teams participating in church league basketball. 1 High School Boys Team, 1 High School Girls Team, 1 Middle School Girls team (that played in the High School division!) and 1 Middle School Boys Team for a total of 44 kids playing for FUMC!! Our teams represented our church incredibly well and our HS Boys team won the “A” Bracket Championship! Thanks to all our coaches: Jamie Sullivan, Ben Brauss, Hollen Spencer, Carrie Rudy, Taylor Parimore, and Gehrig Rabun along with friends and parents who helped make the season so fun. To our Seniors, thanks for making the past years so much fun. We hope you have great memories of church league basketball. To the rest of our players, grab a friend and see you next season!!

The Communications ministry was asked by the Finance Committee to revisit the newsletter to consider reducing the number of pages, to encourage more e-mail subscriptions, “Going Green” and to review the production schedule. On March 3, 2015 the Communications Team met to review the Marketing/Communications budget, necessary budget cuts and to develop a plan for addressing the newsletter.
Newsletter Changes
In an effort to reduce costs and get news out in a more timely manner, we are enlisting an opt-in signup for the printed newsletter. If you wish to continue receiving the printed newsletter, you will have an opportunity to opt-in at the table in the main lobby on Sunday, May 10, 17, 24, & 31. Newsletters will also be available to pickup at the Welcome Center throughout the week, but we will no longer mail a newsletter to every home. Of course, we will continue to send the newsletter to members who are in assisted living, nursing homes or homebound. All others will automatically receive e-news subscriptions.
Along with this revamped newsletter schedule, we are launching an updated website. We are excited about the new design and content. We hope to deliver up-to-date information on the website and through social media. This is the best way to get timely information out to the congregation. Looking forward!
- Scott Heit, The Communications Team
A recommendation for these newsletter changes was presented to Church Council by Rebecca Smith, Communications Team Chair on May 4, 2015. Approval was granted by the Council to proceed with the opt-in signups on Sundays in May and to provide cards for e-mail updates.
