FINANCIAL LITERACY• Required by Illinois for High School Graduation• Often offered as part of other classes

• Not always the “most fun” class for students

• Critical for long-term financial health

WHAT WE ARE DOING AT ISU• BTE 141—Financial Literacy for the College Student• Freshman/Sophomore focused• A general education class that counts as a Quantitative Reasoning course• Offered for the first time last summer as an online course• Multiple sections will be offered beginning Spring 2014 • College seniors are enrolling before the freshman have a chance to join

the class

HOW IT FITS INTO THE BTE PROGRAM

• BTE junior/senior students are creating modules to be incorporated into BTE 141

• BTE Methods students will have an opportunity to teach micro-lessons in the F2F sections of the class
