How to design such an environment of coexistence where communities can create their roots, have a sense of identity and be integrated into a society which is already disintegrated?

About Interviews BooksTheme Outline
Design as a theme for research is viewed from the perspective of understanding how Design operates in our contemporary society. What are the forces that shape design? What forces does design engage with? And what effects does design trigger? In thinking about how design is impacted by the different fields that support it and also how design itself impacts society we believe that it is relevant to think about the relation between architecture and politics. Of how politics influences design but also on how local space can be a reflection of today's society, of a new form of understanding politics and ultimately as an novel approach to design. (See Boeri, Architecture and/is Politics). Suggested general themes for discussion include the spatialization of politics (architecture as a form giver of politics and politics as a shaping force; the importance of local space and reality); Superplaces (the dialectics between Architecture as physical nature and Architecture as symbolic nature); Geopolitics and the clichés of architecture (politics and the cliché of the public images); Multitude and Polyarchy (contemporary decision making).

Thinking about the last 20 years in Moscow, is it possible to identify different periods in the development of Moscow and its architecture during this time? What are the characteristics of these periods, if they exist? What major events have shaped them from your own perspective? What ideas dominated? In what architectural objects were these ideas manifested?
