Handicap Accessible Entrance
In one week we celebrate Palm/Passion Sunday!!! We will again this year implement “traffic flow” — certain doors will be Entrance Only, others Exit Only, as well as a Handicapped Accessible Entrance. See the chart included on this page. Due to safety and fire code regulations, we will have a number of classrooms outfitted with Video and Audio feeds from the Church and Hall to accommodate overflow. On the street and near the street exits, we will be guided by our local police officers. Once the church or hall is completely cleared from the previous Mass, the people patiently waiting in the hallways for the next Mass will be allowed to enter. Please follow the instructions of our Parish Staff, Knights of Columbus, and designated volunteers to help make this movement as smooth as possible. We are blessed to have such a big family here at St. Andrew!

My dear family of Saint Andrew the Apostle! Good News! A young, enthusiastic and new Pastor has been named for St. Andrew the Apostle Parish family, and his name is Fr. Maciej (“Ma-chay”) Stelmach. He is not new to us, since he did a summer internship with us here at St. Andrew’s in the summer of 2013. He was ordained a priest at
the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet in 2014, after studying at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan. He was born in Krakow, Poland, where he received his deep faith, especially from his mother and grandmother. He began to be an altar server when he was seven years old. Before coming to the U.S., he studied material engineering at Krakow University, and following those studies, enrolled in the seminary in Krakow, Poland. In 2010, he came to the United States, applied and was accepted into the Diocese of Joliet. His first assignment was as Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor) at St. Raphael’s Parish, Naperville, from 2014 to 2017, after which time he was assigned as Parochial Vicar to SS. Peter and Paul Parish family also in Naperville until the present. This year, upcoming on June 20, 2018, he will become the new Pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish! What a blessing! Let us pray for him and one another as he and so many other priests and parishes prepare for these upcoming changes in June. Let us all be united in Christ, who is the Pastor and Shepherd of us all!

PARISH EASTER MISSION PRAYER 2018
Heavenly Father, we humbly beseech you to make us more faithful sons and daughters of your Son’s Church. Help us to be joyful, knowledgeable Catholics living in the midst of the modern world, so that we may be beacons of light shining forth in defense of the Church’s Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition and Magisterium, her teaching Office. Help us always to cultivate the virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity in our daily lives, so that whether single, married or consecrated bishops, priests, deacons or Religious, we may always share Your Truth with others. We ask this through Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. AMEN

Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma
NO POR MI BIEN . . .

Healthy Soul — 5th week of Lent
Home stretch as we approach the fifth week of Lent and I have already “messed-up,” these are the words many Catholics tell
themselves as we lose the ambition of wanting a different Lent this year. Ultimately, we are called to an encounter with God in a NEW way, and if giving up chocolate isn't helping, then what do
we have to do? — 3 Simple steps for continual Conversion
(1) Be Curious, “Seek and you shall find!” (Matthew 7:7) Ask God what way He is calling in you a new relationship with Him. (2) Be Knowledgeable, “Seek out the Holy Spirit," through Clergy, the Internet for Catholic inspiration (Facebook, Instagram), and Catholic books—there is a wealth of inspirations at our fingertips. (3) Be Faithful, “Don’t allow yourself to be persuaded by the false world. Stay steadfast in the Church's infinite wisdom,” Jesus is knocking we just have to let Him in; through Prayer, Scripture, the Sacraments, and ultimate belief that God knows what He is doing.

We would like to encourage you to give from the heart for a new oil painting of St. John Paul II, which is being commissioned specifically for St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, with the unanimous support of the Parish Pastoral Council (adopted February 13, 2018). This new portrait will be painted on canvas with the same dimensions as the current copy now hanging in the church which will be
replaced by this new painting. The cost of the painting is $3,500.00. Any contribution no matter how small is a great gift! Any funds raised above the expense of the painting will be designated for the Foundation for the Future. There is a special envelope printed for this specific purpose, by which you'll be able to donate to the expense of this painting. Again, please give from your heart and join us in obtaining this beautiful painting of St. John Paul II for our parish family!

Whenever we priests, deacons or Eucharistic Ministers come to visit, we check the hospital list of parishioners printed under “St. Andrew.” But if you’re not listed as a parishioner of St. Andrew, we won’t know you’re even there! We do not want to miss you! You can always call us at the office, (815) 886-4165 ext. 301. Thank you. May the Lord Jesus be with you all your days, to love and be loved by Him, to honor and serve Him, as He honors and serves us!
A COMMUNITY OF WORD AND SACRAMENT SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION
CATECHUMENATE The Catechumenate is a community which gathers those adults who have not been baptized, and seek deeper insight into the Christian faith.
BAPTISM OF CHILDREN
We joyfully celebrate the baptism of children of Christian households which are joined to our weekly worship, and have active registration in our parish community for at least 3 months. After registration in the parish, please attend an Evening of Awareness, if you have not attended a class in the past two years, to register for Baptism and select a date. Classes are presented on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Baptism is celebrated on the third Sunday of the month at 1:30 p.m.
EUCHARIST AND CONFIRMATION
Formation for those coming first to the table of the Lord as children is infused into the efforts of our school and Faith Formation Office. Confirmation formation is a two year process completed in eighth grade. Please call the Faith Formation Office for more information.
SACRAMENTS OF COMMITMENT
MARRIAGE
Marriage preparation is a six month process of prayer, reflection and study. Couples work with both the presider and a sponsor couple through this process. Please note that this six month period of preparation is essential.
ORDERS
Those seeking assistance in discerning a call to ordained ministry are encouraged to call the parish offices.
SACRAMENTS OF HEALING
RECONCILIATION Reconciliation is available each Saturday afternoon, 3:00pm, Wednesday evening, 5:45-6:45pm, through seasonal communal services, and by appointment.
ANOINTING
Anointing of the Sick is offered through seasonal services, and always by request. If hospitalized, please immediately seek anointing from the Catholic chaplain.
I would like to have my house blessed. Please contact me to make arrangements.
