Trojan Nuclear PlantReport of Violation of NPDES Permit

In accordance with Facility Operating License NPF-1 for the Trojan Nuclear Plant, the EnvironmentalProtection Plan (Non Radiological) Technical Specifications, Section 3.2, enclosed is ; copy of themonthly report submitted to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) in which aviolation of the National Pol!ulun and Discharge Effluent Systems (NPDES) Permit is reported. As .

discussed in the enclosed letter, the pH lower limit of 6.0 at the Discharge and Dilution Structtue(D&DS-Outfall 001) was exceeded for approximately ten minutes (from 12:18 pm to 12:28 pm) onSaturday, September 6,1997. The pH decreased to 5.6 by meter and 5.3 by grab sample due toworkers rinsing sodium bisulSte barrels into the Outfall. Because notification of another government

agency (Oregon DEQ).was made, a four-hour report was made on September 6,1997, in accordance -

iwith 10 CFR 50.72(b)(2)(vi)...
