Office news...

Rejoice! I say it again Rejoice! (Phil 4:4)

It is with great joy that I am able to announce that due to your amazing generosity and sacrifice we have been able to finally pay off the mortgage for the Parish Life Center, Office, and Courtyard!!!!! Thank you! Your dedication to the parish has provided incredible facilities that will provide for the needs of our community for years to come. So what’s next? As we do look forward, I want you all to know that we have begun the initial conversations for the much needed replacement of the pews and flooring inside the church, as well as a few other possible updates. More information will be coming out in the not too distant future.

Also, last fall our Finance Council recommended obtaining a “Property Condition Analysis and Report” to determine the projected cost of major repairs and maintenance to our campus in the upcoming years. Terracon Consultants Inc. was chosen to conduct the analysis. Terracon concluded that over the next twelve years the cost will be $1.5 million. We have established a Sustainment Fund to cover the expenses. A copy of this report is available in the Parish Office and on our website under Finance Council.

When planning your charitable gifts to the parish, in addition to your regular offertory contribution, please prayerfully consider donating to our Parish and School Sustainment Fund. And please remember direct payments from your IRA or appreciated stock is a tax-efficient method to contribute. Feel free to contact the office for further information.

Thank you again for your generous sacrificial giving.

Fr. David Keegan, Pastor

Mass & Healing Service with Fr. Richard McAlear Thursday, February 20

th, 5:30 pm

St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Jax Beach

Today, Feb 2nd

, marks the traditional ending of the Christmas season, as we celebrate the Presentation of Jesus in the temple 40 days after his birth [the 4

th joyful mystery of the

rosary]. It was for this reason that the Nativity Scene remained up; so that we could have sufficient time to meditate on the great mystery of the Incarnation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I also want to share with all of you an experience I had last weekend. A family (with 4 children, from college-age down to middle school) that I have known for quite a few years invited me to their house dinner. As you can imagine we talked about jobs and sports and school; they wanted to know about the things happening at our parish; we even discussed politics and religion.

So why am I sharing this? Because I left that evening full of hope. I know that these “normal” parents are striving to be faithful Catholics and to share the faith with their children. When I arrived, on a side table was a Bible and a study guide for the Gospel of Matthew, with dog-eared pages, and post it notes hanging out. There was Christian music lightly playing in the background; one daughter was singing along with the music. During our conversation questions about faith and the church naturally came up, and the husband asked for clarification on some doubts and questions he was having. The wife and the kids added their thoughts and questions of their own. It was genuine sharing between friends, it wasn’t forced or fake just because a priest was there.

It gave me hope that in spite of all the nonsense out there, that all is not lost. I know that families are the front line in the battle. And I know that a strong and active faith-life is the key to victory. So I want to encourage all of you in your life of discipleship; if you aren’t already, please start a study of the scriptures with your family and friends. There are lots of online resources available. Check out the Augustine Institute, St. Paul Center (Scott Hahn), and Ascension Press. All 3 are credible and faithful resources. I know that it can be intimidating and daunting, but there’s no need to fear. We are not alone in this.

And be on the look out for exciting opportunities in the upcoming months to learn and grow as a parish.

Fr. David
