Far East Basketball

Registration Monday October 2nd Far East Community Recreation center leagues will be using on-line with www.fareast.web.siplay.com. Deadline ends Wednesday November 11th. Please register sooner than later because spaces do fill up fast. The first two weeks in November staff will be conducting specific position skills and drills with our participating youth. If you are interested in volunteer coaching this season, our coaches meeting will be Tuesday November 14th at 7:00 pm. We will be discussing practice times, jersey colors of each team and passing out team rosters.

Teen Mentoring Program This program will be starting in September.

The purpose this program is; Team

M.O.D.I.F.Y (Men of distinction involving

family and youth). Mentoring program is to

provide males of all racial/ethnic

backgrounds ages 11-18 the opportunity to

build a tool box of skills that will provide a

foundation for the individual to grow into a

positive and productive contributor. This will

provide a foundation to grow into a positive

and productive contributor for their families

and community.

Far East Adult Program Our Active Adult Programs is typically

marketed to active, healthy, younger seniors,

some of whom are still working and many

who are new retirees, who are seeking a

lifestyle change during early or pre-

retirement years. Most adult programs are

fairly similar, but we offer a variety of

healthy classes such as a Walking Club, Yoga

Fit, Stretch & Tone, 50+ Basketball, 18 and

up Basketball Hand Ceramics, Crocheting,

Line Dancing, Wood Turning and a cooking

class called Soup Di’ Jour, which is delicious.

The increased opportunities for socialization

with peers in an active adult setting keeps

residents involved with others and with a

wider community reduces social isolation and

depression and promotes physical and mental

health. There will be various trips and

monthly luncheons scheduled at the end of

each month. Health and Wellness at Far East

Get involved in health and wellness at Far

East with our healthy eating Soup Di’ Jour

classes with recipes specializing in fresh and

healthy eating life style from all natural

ingredients and tasty broths. Yoga Fit is also

a health and fitness class designed to improve

the health, performance, and mental acuity of

athletes or individuals interested in

improving their level of fitness and health.

Far East aerobics is the most exciting and

wellness class available with the wide variety

activities and movements to assure a healthy

lifestyle.

New Wood Turning Class with Mr. Davis

This program will be starting in September on Saturdays. This is a Fee basic Class: $25 plus material fee $25 fee will cover all materials (Pens). This is a rare but creative NEW class in wood turning specializing in designer wood pen s. This class is designed for all beginners ages 12 to Senior. This special wood turning program working on a Wood Lathe can also be the perfect program for fathers and son as well as mothers and daughter who wants to try something different together as a family.
