Energy Conservation MeasureElectronically Commutated Motors (ECM)
An Electronic Commutated Motor is more efficient than a motor that uses the shaded pole or Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) type technology. This is due to the fact that the motor is a permanent magnet motor which has fewer losses than a standard induction motor. With an integrated electronic control, similar to a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) in larger applications, the motor can be programmed to operate in various modes. For the fan coils that are in schools, municipal building, hotels, commercial buildings, the motors are programmed to maintain a programmed speed to maintain airflow/CFM. The motor also has a soft ramp up to speed as well as being one of the quietest motor out in the market.
