Leviticus 17:11

For the life of the esh is in the blood, and

I have given it to you on the altar to make

atonement for your souls, for it is the blood

that makes atonement for the soul.

Throughout the Bible we see that God has

required blood. Only blood can make an

atonement. The word atonementmeans,to

make a payment for sin.Blood turned away the

judgment of God, and cancelled the effects of

sin.

Sin cannot exist in Gods presence just like

darkness cannot exist in the light. In the Old

Testament the people were separated from

Gods presence. The high priest was the only

Israelite allowed to enter the holy of holies in the

tabernacle and only once a year, on the Day of

Atonement. And he never entered without blood.

Blood allowed an unholy man to stand in the

presence of a holy God. Blood made it possible

for God to bless an entire nation.

The Hebrew word for atonementliterally means,

to cover. The blood of sacricial animals merelycoveredthe sins of the people. But the blood of

Jesus removes sin.

The Law was only a foreshadow of the realities

that we now have in Christ. When Jesus died He

did not enter a temple made with human hands.

He entered into heaven itself, not with the blood

of a bull or a goat, but with His own precious

blood. His blood washed away our sins.

Sin is real, it is not something preachers invent

to scare people into going to church! Sin is verreal, and so is guilt. Psychologists say most of

those who are mentally ill suffer from guilt. You

cannot rationalize away guilt. You cannot silenc

the voice of a troubled conscience with alcoho

or drugs. But the blood of Jesus cleanses our

conscience from dead works to serve the living

God(Hebrews 9:14). Only the blood of Christ

can bring peace with God.

Smith Wigglesworth said, I nd by the revelati

of the Spirit that there is not one thing in me th

the blood does not cleanse.

One day a young man came to my house

selling a special liquid soap. He said, This is

not ordinary soap. It is specially formulated and

concentrated. It can remove any stain. I thoug

later of the blood of Christ. It is not ordinary

blood, it is special, the holy blood of Gods ow

Son. There is not any sin stain this blood canno

remove!

Blood is a unique mixture of complex ingredients

that can never be manufactured in a laboratory.

What does blood do in your body? Blood

functions in many ways, but it has three main

jobs: it nourishes, it cleanses, and it heals.

The blood of Jesus does the same thing, it

nourishes, cleanses and heals the Body of

Christ.

Jesus said in John 6:53, Truly, truly, I say to

you, unless you eat the esh of the Son of

man and drink His blood, you have no life

in you.The Greek word translatedlifein this

verse is zoe, which means, the life of God or

eternal life. Obviously, were not going to literally

eat Jesus body and drink His blood. With a

resurrected body He is now seated in heaven,

how could we eat Him?

Jesus died on the cross as a sacrice for

our sins, to restore us to God. His death and

resurrection is a historical fact. But the price

He paid wont do you any good, unless you

personally receive Him. It is not enough to know

that Jesus died for our sins. You must take Him

by faith.

There are several different blood types, each

with a slightly different chemical make up, forexample, there is O+ , A+, B+, AB-, etc. O+ is

the most common blood type. About 35% of

the population in India is O+. It is important to

know your blood type in case you ever need a

blood transfusion. You can only receive a blood

transfusion if it is your blood type. A patient will

go into shock and possibly die if he receives a

transfusion of the wrong blood type.

But Jesus blood is the rarest of all blood types.

Why type of blood did Jesus have? His was P&H.

That stands for Pure & Holy! Nobody has that

blood type except God. When we got saved,

we received a spiritual blood transfusion. The

blood of Jesus owed into us and gave us Gods

life.

Your body contains about 5.6 litres of blood. Th

blood is constantly owing through every part

of your body. It takes about 1 minute for all 5

litres to circulate through your body. I believe th

blood of Jesus is constantly owing to refresh

and renew us. Just as the blood in your body

touches every cell, the blood of Jesus affects

every part of your life.

As I said before, blood cleanses. As the blood

ows it removes wastes materials from each ce

and puries the body. We know that the blood

of Jesus removes sin from our hearts when

were born again. But did you know that there i

continual cleansing of sins through Jesus bloo

1John 1:7(ESV)But if we walk in the light, as He is in the ligh

we have fellowship with one another, and th

blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all

sin.

Another translation says, continually cleanses u

from every sin.

We need a continual cleansing of the blood. Jo

wrote this letter to Christians telling them how

stay in fellowship with God.

To walk in the light means to practice the truth

Gods Word. To walk in darkness means, to sin.

we walk in the revelation of the truth that we ha

received, there is a continual cleansing by the

blood.

When a sinner comes

to Christ, he is washed

from sin because of

the blood.

In John 13we read that Jesus wrapped a

towel around his waste and began to wash

the disciples feet. When it was Peters turn, he

objected (v.8)You shall never wash my feet.He

felt it was beneath Jesus to do such a thing. But

Jesus answered, If I do not wash you, you have

no share with me.In other words, Jesus said, If

I dont cleanse you, we have nothing in common,

no fellowship, no sharing together.

So Peter, enthusiastically said, Lord, not my

feet only but also my hands and my head!He

wanted Jesus to know, that he was sold out!

Peter wanted to be with Jesus the whole way.

But listen to Jesus response: The one who has

bathed does not need to wash, except for his

feet, but is completely clean.Thats interesting.

When a sinner comes to Christ, he is washedfrom sin because of the blood. But a Christian

gets dirty walking around in this world. He

doesnt need to be born again,again!But he

needs forgiveness, he doesnt need a bath, but

he needs to have his feet washed.

And if we dont experience continual cleansing,

if Jesus doesnt wash our feet, we cant have

fellowship or partnership with Him. I didnt say

that a Christian who stumbles is condemned to

hell. I said that sin breaks our fellowship. We lose

intimacy and our hearts lose condence in Gods

presence. But thank God, we can be forgiven.

There is continual cleansing by the blood.

The blood in your body is comprised of red

blood cells and white blood cells. The red cells

color your blood and transport nourishment to

the parts of your body. But the white blood cel

ght infection. If a germ or virus enters your

blood stream, the white blood cells will surroun

it and swallow it up. Healing must be Gods wil

God designed your body to ght illness.

The blood of Jesus also heals. During the rst

Passover, the children of Israel sprinkled blood

over the door posts of their houses. When a

terrible plague swept through Egypt that night,

they were spared because of the blood of a

sacricial lamb.

1 Corinthians 5:7says, For Christ, our

Passover lamb, has been sacriced.

If the blood of an animal, which was only a typ

of Christ, spared the Israelites from a terrible

disease, surely, the blood of Christ will spare us

from sickness.

1 Peter 2:24says by His stripes(or wounds)

you have been healed.Jesus blood not only

forgives, it heals.

Mary K. Baxter, in her book the Power of the

Bloodwrote that she was led by the Lord tovisit a childrens hospital. As she was wanderin

around the hall way she heard a young child

crying. She entered the room and tried to

comfort the little boy. But the Lord told her to

place her hand on the stomach of the boy and

say, I plead the blood of Jesus upon this boy.

She did that, and the child became quiet and

fell asleep. Later on when the doctors tested th

boy, there was nothing wrong with him; he was

cured.

There is a power to heal, to restore, to protect,

and to cleanse its in the blood of Jesus!

The children of Israel applied the blood to their

homes with a branch of hyssop. We can apply

the blood of Jesus by confessing our faith.

There is a power to

Self consciousness is a

preoccupation with oneself. Selfconscious people are shy and easilyembarrassed because they livewith a constant awareness of theirweaknesses,shortcomings and eventheir past failures.

You will hear them say things like,I am not good enough,I can neverdo this,Everyone will laugh at me

or I am too shorttoo talltoofattoo thin. Therefore it alwaysleads to a sense of helplessness anddespair. Self conscious people areless aware of Gods presence,Hispower and His love.

This is exactly how the enemywants you to live. He will magnifyyour weaknesses and even use your

past failures to bring guilt andcondemnation to beat you down andkeepyou defeated.

However,God wants you to live avictorious life and that will happenby being Christ conscious and notself conscious.

2Cor. 5:16 Therefore from now

on know we no man after the flesh.This scripture tells us that we arenot to regard or look at anyone

(incl uding ourselves) who is a bornagain child of God,from a humanpoint of view. We are to look atourselves only the way God sees

us. How does God see you?

2Cor 5:17 Therefore if any manbe in Christ,he is a new creation:old things are passed away; behold,all things are become new.

God sees you In Christ. Hesees you as a brand new person,washed in the blood of Jesus.

No longer the old sinner. He seesyou as Righteous. He sees you aspowerful and victorious. He seesyou as successful. He sees you assomeone greatly blessed and deeplyloved because you are accepted inHis Beloved Son,Jesus Christ!

When you agree with God andsee yourself the way God sees you

everything about you will change.You will effortlessly rise above

every challenge or difficulty and dogreat things for God. You will bemore conscious of Gods love foryou and His presence surroundingyou.

See yourself successful. Seeyourself as bold. See yourself

overcoming sin. See yourselfblessed. See yourself as deeplyloved. Because thats who youreally arein Christ.

The church is the pillar and the anchor of the

truth.

Dont stop meeting together with other believers,

(which some people have gotten into the habit of

doing); instead, encourage each other, especially as

you see the days drawing near.

Those who truly love God are happy about going

to church. God has a wonderful plan for us and

for our children, and the way that this plan will

become a reality is by being taught the Word of

God, by the pastor, who specifically designed it for

us.

Jeremiah 3:15 -16

And I will give you pastors according to my

heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and

understanding, and it shall come to pass when

you be multiplied and increase in the land in

those days.

According to Jeremiah, when Christian are

consistently taught the Word of God from their

pastor, and when they start doing the Word that

being taught, personal increase always occurs.

Church is where we can grow as sons and

daughters, husbands and wives, fathers and

mothers. Jesus calls the church His bride; He calls

you and me His bride. That is why I am telling you

to stop dating the church.

David, a man after Gods own heart said,Lord, I

love the house where you live, the place wher

your glory dwells, Psalm 26:8.

You should go to a church where God lives and

where Gods glory dwells. Not every church is

where God lives and His glory dwells (some

churches are just empty buildings). And when

God brings you to the church family that He has

prepared for you, cherish what you have been

given and dont let go; for you have finally found

the place where you and your family are going to

enjoy the best days of your lives.

Church is the dearest place on earth. -Charles

Spurgeon.

Parents who have children should set an example

of loving Jesus by going to church. Your children

will follow your example. Your children will love

Jesus because you love Him. Your children will love

church because you love church. If you go to church

on time; your children will be on time. If you be a

tither and a giver; your children will grow up to be

tithers and givers. I have seen this happen in my

own life with my children and some other members

children in our church. Bring up your children in the

atmosphere of Gods glory and your children willenjoy heaven on earth.

You may have heard this been said before, Those

who attend church on Sunday morning, love the

preacher; those who attend Sunday night, love the

church and those who attend midweek services

love the Lord! This may be a joke, but there is

some truth in it.

You cannot separate a believer from the localchurch. You cannot be a Christian and not go to

church. Attending all the services in your church

takes personal sacrifice and commitment. Going

to church is not always the easiest thing to do;

we have conflicts at times, but however, Christ

commands us to give Him first place in our lives.

(Matt 6:33).

The church is the center of Gods plan for a believer,

because church is a family. We cannot be faithful to

Christ and be unfaithful to our church. If you are notgoing to church, probably you are deceived.

When we go to church, we are putting ourselves in

the best possible place to allow God do His work in

us. Church is a place where we flourish spiritually;

it is here that God grows us and conforms us to the

image of His Son. The church community is wher

we learn to love God and to love others; where

we are strengthened and transformed by truth

from the Word. It is where we are taught to pray,

worship and to serve; where we can invest our tim

and ability for eternity.

As soon as you discover your local church, an

important part of commitment is involved and

supporting your pastor is one of them.

Christians often pray for good leaders, but we

should also ask God to help us be good followers

Protect your pastor by praying for him and by

refusing to engage in slander against him.

Dont criticize your pastor; pray for him and find

ways to encourage him. If others engage in gossior slander, challenge them and refuse to particip

When you make your pastors duties a joy, you w

benefit spiritually. Nothing makes a pastor happi

than to see a member of his church growing in

godliness.

Lastly, if you love Jesus Christ passionately but

havent been committed to the church, I hope

youve heard your Master speaking to you throug

this message.

And I would like to ask one more thing here; if

you say you love Jesus and love your church; do

you tithe? By giving 10% of your income and

contributing money in other ways to the local

church, you are telling God that you trust Him an

acknowledge that all your possessions belong to

Him. God challenged the Israelites in Mal 3:10.

Bring the whole tithe into the store house.

Your attitude towards the church is your attitudetowards Jesus.

Psalm 122:1

I rejoiced with those who said to me, Let us go

to the house of the Lord.
