Why Should Faculty Get Involved with Grants?
– For your students! (Provide experiences that would otherwise not be available).
– Pay for new initiatives, specialized equipment, new staff to assist in coordination.
– Release time from teaching.– Stipends.– Travel funds for research purposes and professional development.– Make and maintain academic relationships outside of the college.– Gain publicity and increase exposure for yourself, CLC, and your
field of study.– Advance your cause even if the grant proposal is not funded.
Next Steps?– Contact your Dean and Resource Development Office to
discuss idea – RDLA locates source – Check out RDLA website for valuable information and
guidance @ http://www.clcillinois.edu/depts/red.asp– Attend annual grant writing workshop (January 2008).– Assist in writing many grants. – Wait for $$$ (if not, we resubmit next year).
