Ce que j’adore sur le net, c’est qu’on peut y dénicher de très très bonnes idées pour faire plaisir à tous : conjoints, amis, enfants,…

Aujourd’hui, je partage avec vous un chouette DIY qui fera la joie de vos petits Misters et Miss. Que dites-vous de prendre 30 min de votre temps pour leur préparer un joli pouf poire ?! Personnalisé, il ajoutera une belle touche décorative à leurs petites chambres. Confortable, il leur donnera encore plus envie de lire leurs histoires.

Pour ce tuto très simple, vous aurez besoin de : 2 morceaux de tissus différents choisis avec votre goût, une fermeture éclair de 55 cm et des billes de polystyrène pour remplir le pouf.

1. Coupez les 2 morceaux de tissus à la taille 115*80 cm

2. Superposez les tissus. Sur les longueurs, utilisez un point zigzag pour éviter l’effilochage. Ensuite, un point droit pour bien les coudre ensemble. Pour faire durer le pouf, on vous recommande de faire de petites longueurs de point.

3. Pliez le tissu en deux, en alignant les bords cousus.

4. A partir du côté plié, coupez en rond une extrémité, en enlevant environ 15cm de matière à partir du coin.

5. Dépliez les tissus, vous devriez avoir une belle courbe symétrique sur un côté. Faites un zigzag sur les bords ronds, puis un point droit pour coudre ces côtés.

6. Ouvrez le bord restant sans couture. Pliez en deux dans le sens opposé, comme indiqué ci-dessous.

7. Cousez votre fermeture éclair dans le centre de cette ouverture. Vous pouvez utiliser une fermeture invisible de sorte qu’elle soit moins visible une fois le pouf rempli.

8. N’oubliez pas de rajouter des points droits pour coudre la partie non fermée par la fermeture éclair.

9. Il ne vous reste plus qu’à vider votre sac de billes à l’intérieur pour obtenir votre pouf magique. Faites-le à 2 ou à 3 pour ne pas trop en déverser sur le sol ;)

Filled with polystyrene balls, beanbags are both warm and comfortable as they mould to your shape.

As an alternative, they can be filled with foam chippings but these tend to make the beanbag lumpy.

Remember that whatever filling you decide upon it should comply with the fire retardant rules and regulations of your country.

The filling is encased in a separate inner bag which is made from an inexpensive strong fabric such as calico or ticking so that the cover can be easily removed for laundering.

The outer cover is cut in separate panels which is ideal for utilizing spare pieces or off cuts of fabric to make a multi-coloured beanbag.

Requirements:• Hardwearing fabric for the outer cover. 4 pieces, each measuring 25" (64 cms) wide and 31"

(79 cms) long plus 2 pieces, each measuring 29" (74 cms) wide by 15" (37.5 cms) long. • Calico or ticking for the inner bag, 6 pieces cut to the same sizes as the outer fabric. • Strong matching threads. • 20" (50 cms) zip. • Polystyrene balls for the filling (approximately 6 cubic feet). Making the Paper Pattern for Side Panel:

1. Cut a piece of paper 24" (60 cms) wide by 30" (75 cms) long and mark the centre point along the top edge.

2. Measure 20" (50 cms) up from each bottom corner and mark. 3. Draw an arc from each side mark to the top centre point and cut along this line.

Making the Paper Pattern for the Base Pieces:

1. Cut a rectangle of paper 14" (36 cms) by 28" (71 cms) and fold it in half to make a square.

2. Using a length of string attached to a pencil, draw a quarter circle with a radius of 14" (36 cms).

3. Cut around the curve and open out.

Making a Beanbag:1. Cut out 4 side pieces and 2 base pieces using the paper pattern adding 0.5" (12 mm) to all

edges for seam allowances.

2. Lay 1 side piece on a flat surface, right side up, and lay a second side piece on top, wrong side up, matching the raw edges.

3. Starting 0.5" (12 mm) from the top edge, pin and stitch down one side edge, 0.5" (12 mm) in from the raw edges.

4. Repeat for the other side panels to make a cone of fabric. 5. Press all the seam allowances to one side. 6. Backstitch through all the layers at the top point to strengthen. 7. Place 1 base piece on a flat surface, right side up, and lay the other piece on top, wrong side

up, matching the raw edges. 8. Pin the long straight sides together, 0.5" (12 mm) in from the raw edges. 9. Insert a central zip into this seam and open the zip.

10. Lay the base section on a flat surface, right side up, and lay the fabric cone on top, wrong side out.

11.Pin the bottom edges of the fabric cone around the edge of the base piece, 0.5" (12 mm) in from the raw edges.

12.Clip the seam allowance around the curve so that the fabric lays flat and stitch 0.5" (12 mm) in from the raw edges.

13.Turn right side out through the zip and press. 14.To make the inner bag, repeat steps 1 to 13 omitting the zip and stitching the 2 base sections

together along the straight side, 0.5" in from the raw edges. Leave an opening, of approximately 6" (15 cms), in one side of the fabric cone for filling. To strengthen the

seams, work a second row of stitches within the seam allowance. 15.Using an improvised funnel made from a piece of paper, pour the polystyrene balls into the

inner bag until it is half to three quarters full. 16.Turn in the seam allowance on the opening in line with the rest of the seam and work 2 rows

of machine stitches across the opening to secure. 17.Insert the bag into the outer cover and close the zip.

For lounging in front of the television or curling up to read a book, use this comfortable bean-bag chair. Although the name implies that the bag is filled with beans, it’s actually filled with polystyrene pellets, making the chair light-weight and moldable. It’s easy to make either a child-size or adult-size bean-bag chair.

For added durability, the bean-bag chair consists of a muslin inner lining that holds the pellets, and an outer cover. The inner lining is zippered for convenience in filling the bag. The outer cover is also zippered, making it easy to remove for laundering or dry cleaning. For the outer cover, select a medium-weight fabric, such as wide-wale corduroy, denim, canvas, or upholstery fabric.

be needed depending on the size of your bag. Check online (we suggest Amazon.com) or with doll stuffing suppliers, packing suppliers or upholstery suppliers for sources.

• Other suggested filler to use would be packing peanuts. Use the ones that DO NOT dissolve with water

• 1" (2.5 cm) grid, such as cutting mat or graph paper

For child-size chair

• Medium- to heavy-weight fabric for outer cover:

Making the Pattern

Using the pattern, make a side pattern piece for the size of bean-bag chair you wish to make (adult or child). The pattern is provided on a grid that is scaled: one square on the grid is equal to 1 square inch (2.5 square cm). To make a full-size pattern, place tracing paper over a 1” (2.5cm) grid, such as a cutting board; or make a grid by drawing lines 1” (2.5cm) apart. Then, using the scaled pattern for reference, draw the outer (cutting) line of the pattern. (See Step 1.) Note: The adult-size chair is approximately 41-1/2” (105.4cm) long and 21” (53.3cm) wide at the longest and widest points. The child-size chair is approximately 34” (86.4cm) long and 16” (40.6cm) wide at the longest and widest points.

To make a pattern for the top of the bean-bag chair, fold a piece of paper in half; mark a point approximately half-way down the folded edge. Using a ruler and pencil, draw an arc measuring 5-1/2” (14cm) from this point for the adult-size chair, or 4-1/2” (11.5cm) for the child-size chair. Hint: keep the end of the ruler at the point marked at the fold, and pivot the ruler in an arc while marking at the measurement indicated above. (See Step 2.)

To make a pattern for the bottom of the bean-bag chair, fold paper in half as in Step 2, and make an arc measuring 12” (30.5cm) from the marked point for the adult-size chair, and 10” (25.5cm) from the marked point for the child-size chair. Unfold the paper and mark a line 1/2” (1.3cm) on one side of the fold. Cut along this line and discard the smaller side of the circle. The remaining piece is the pattern for the bottom of the chair. (See Step 3.)

Cutting Directions

• Using side pattern, cut 6 fabric and 6 lining • Using top pattern, cut 1 fabric and 1 lining • Using bottom pattern, cut 2 fabric and 2 lining

How to Sew a Bean Bag Chair

1) Side Pattern. Place tracing paper over a 1" (2.5cm) grid. Make full-size pattern for

Using ruler and pencil, draw arc on paper measuring from the marked point out the indicated distance. Cut on drawn line and unfold paper for top pattern.

3) Bottom Pattern. Draw arc for bottom pattern and unfold paper; draw a straight line 1/2" (1.3cm) on one side of fold. Cut on this line, and discard smaller side of circle. The remaining piece is pattern for bottom of chair.

4) Pin chair bottom pieces, right sides together, matching straight edges. Machine-baste straight edges using a 1/2" (1.3cm) seam allowance. Stitch again using a regular stitch length, but only stitching 1" (2.5cm) in from each edge. Press seam open.

5) Center zipper right side down over seam allowances, with zipper teeth on seam line. Glue-baste in place, if desired. Using a zipper foot, stitch down each side of zipper tape 1⁄4" (6mm) from zipper teeth.

6) Stitch long edges of side pieces, right sides together, using 1/2" (1.3cm) seam allowance, and leaving last seam open to make topstitching in Step 7 easier. Press seam allowances to one side, pressing all in same direction.

7) Topstitch 3/8" (1 cm) from seams catching both seam allowances. Stitch remaining seam, press seam allowances to one side, and topstitch.

11) Turn bag right side out through the zipper opening. Press these bottom seam allowances toward bag sides and topstitch 3/8" (1.0cm) from seam, catching both seam allowances.

12) Repeat steps 4 through 11 for inner lining. Insert the lining into outer cover and fill the bag with polystyrene pellets. Close zippers.
