Real­life application: At Target, Cynthia purchased three new shirts and five bottles of nail polish. Her total purchase cost $51. Emily only purchased one shirt, but she bought seven bottles of nail polish. Emily's total purchase cost $33. What was the price of each shirt and bottle of nail polish? 

a. Write the system of equations to model this situation. Define your variables! 

b. Solve the system using the substitution method. Show all steps of your work. Check your solution using the original equations.
