    Dear Chairman Walder:

We are writing to you to request that New York City Transit address the impacts of the impending

service suspensions on the F/G line in Kensington & Windsor Terrace in Brooklyn. We have heard frommany concerned residents about the potential impacts on their daily lives from the suspension of

northbound service at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 15th Street F/G for the next five months.

While we understand this is part of a necessary project to rehabilitate the F/G line and upgrade its

performance in the long term, NYC Transit must offer a better alternative service than riding

southbound to head northbound on the train. The current alternative could add up to 20 minutes to

    residents commutes every day.

While your outreach materials indicated that NYC Transit will expand latenight bus service on the B61,

which covers 15th Street, the agency is not offering any rushhour enhanced bus or shuttle services. Nor

is the agency offering any enhanced alternative service for Fort Hamilton Parkway.

The reconstruction of the Culver line is a necessary project and we understand that your agency made a

decision to pursue an option that reduces the cost and length of the project that led to this service

change. However, the fact that an alternative form of transportation is not being provided is an

unacceptable hardship on people in Kensington and Windsor Terrace .

We strongly urge NYC Transit to implement alternative serviceeither in the form of regular shuttle

bus service or by extending and expanding service of nearby bus lines. In addition, line staff need to be

informed of the situationthere was no notice up at the Fort Hamilton Parkway station, and the station

agent on duty did not have information on the project. We look forward to discussing this request with

your agency at a meeting at your convenience. We will follow up with your office on this matter.
