Manufacturing and Certifications

SELUX products are constructed using only

high quality materials. High pressure die-

cast and formed components help ensure the

integrity of form. All parts are secured using

corrosion-resistant stainless steel fasteners

and inserts. Each luminaire receives a state-

of-the-art polyester powder coat finish that

ensures long lasting aesthetics and integrity.

Testing in-house and through independent

laboratories has earned SELUX products a

variety of certifications. UL and cUL listing is

standard for all luminaires.

In addition, during manufacturing, we test all

products for fit, finish, and electrical function.

Our Luminaires are designed with excellent

ingress protection (IP), certified as IP67 on cer-

tain fixtures. The powder coat finish on our

fixtures is Tiger Drylac certified and exceeds

the AAMA performance specs for anti-corro-

sion protection, carries ASTM and PCI certifi-

cations, and comes with an extended 3-year

warrantee.

"Dark-Sky Friendly"

Observe a night sky in an open field or anurban area with no exterior lighting, andthen compare that experience with viewingthe night sky in a parking lot or urban areailluminated by a non-cutoff fixture. Theuplight from non-cutoff fixtures can beplainly seen, obstructing our view of thenight sky and creating distracting glare atcritical viewing angles. SELUX designed acollection of full-cutoff luminaires witheffective downlighting to eliminate theseproblems. These fixtures have since beenapproved by the International Dark SkyAssociation (IDA).

The mission of the IDA is to preserve andprotect the nighttime environment through

environmentally responsible outdoor lighting.

To quality, all submissions go through a rigorous

photometric testing process before they can

be considered IDA certified. The goal of this

program is to create a more pleasant night-

time environment, decrease light pollution

and energy consumption, and to reclaim

dark, natural night skies for the benefit of all.

Indeed, it is with these principles in mind that

SELUX design engineered the "full cutoff"

luminaires submitted to the IDA.

Patented MTR Technology | SELUX Exterior

Full-Cutoff Optics

"Full-Cutoff Optics" means 0% uplight spill from an

exterior fixture. SELUX Full-Cutoff fixtures allow for

a clearer night sky by providing better efficiency and

light distribution by eliminating upward light

spillage. This provides results in more appealing and

uniform lighting, while still offering the familiar,

clean architectural lines of SELUX forms. These fix-

tures may also qualify for LEED projects and may

also be eligible for government grants and loans.

The IDA fixture seal of approval in this catalog

incates that the fixture has been evaluated and

approved by the IDA. These fixtures are Dark Sky

Friendly and offer Full-Cutoff optics.

Reflection" (MTR) technology based on the light

refracting qualities of the prism. Our MTR

refractors are uniquely formed glass prismatic

rings that focus the majority of the light into

the optimal angles between 20° and 70° to

provide comfortable, glare-free lighting. This

technology is an integral part of the MTR

Columns and MTR Bollards, and is also

available with the Saturn and Quadro families.

With MTR refraction, very little of the light is focused through the critical angles of visibility

between 70° and 105° from the vertical plane; the result is pleasant, glare-free lighting.

With lumen level always peaking at between 20° and 70° from the vertical plane, there is no

perceived radical increase in brightness, whether viewed from a distance or from directly beneath

A Light-Emitting Diode (LED) is a semi-

conductor device which converts electricity

into light. LED lights are more rugged and

damage-resistant than compact fluorescent

By using the latest technology, SELUX assures a finish that is long-lasting,abrasion and UV resistant, and most important—beautiful.

The highest grade of polyester powder paint is applied electrostatically in our state-of-the-art facility. The complete eight-stage finishing process includes a six-stage cleaning process during which the parts arephosphated and de-ionized to assure maximum paint adhesion. Paintmolecular cross-linking occurs during a 20-minute bake cycle at 470° F.This thermo set super TGIC polyester powder coat finish guaranteescolor stability and impact resistance. The finish also meets the AAMA605.2 performance specification which includes passing a 3000-hour saltspray test for corrosion resistance.

Quality control is a SELUX priority. All material is thoroughly inspected forfinish quality and parts are randomly selected to inspect mil thickness,adhesion, and color uniformity. To test the mil thickness of a product, noless than eight measurements are taken from the product. Adhesion israndomly checked with standard cross hatching procedure and color uni-formity is visually controlled.

At SELUX, we know that color is very important when integrated into thearchitectural process. Along with our standard colors, SELUX offers morethan 180 premium color choices from the RAL Classic palette. In addi-tion, we can develop special-order finishes to match your precise colorrequirements. any kind. Once the fixture is up on its anchor bolts,

installation is complete. The savings can be enor-
