BattleRifleG3s Customized Saiga and AK Furniture

I offer this catalog as an aid in placing an order for customized

furniture for Saiga and other AK firearms. It is meant to be a general

overview of styles and options from which you can choose. While this

catalog is thorough, it is not all-inclusive, so please feel free to ask about

anything not mentioned here. New ideas or proposed modifications of my

designs are welcome. Any items can be ordered individually or in a

    matching set.

Images have been assembled from various pictures taken over time.

Some of them are items in progress and for purposes of this catalog seem to

be the best way to represent the different styles. These should not be taken

as representations of a finished product, rather a way to distinguish one style

from another and give it a name.

My standard and preference is to sell items unfinished, ready for the

buyer to apply the finish of his or her choice. Any finishing work by me

would significantly extend lead time and may be subject to environmental

conditions. A buyer has the most control over the end result when he can

see the effect of the finish as he applies it, and avoiding finishing in-house

allows me to offer lower prices in general. It also allows the buyer to put

sweat equity into his project instead of additional funds.

Orders are placed by online communication. I use the same screen

name, BattleRifleG3, on every firearm discussion board in which I

participate. E-mail can be sent to [email protected].

    Saiga Handguards

These handguard styles are designed to be direct replacements for the Saiga

factory handguards. Any style can be lengthened or shortened to fit different Saiga

models. Handguard vents are available on all styles as an extra cost option. Any

variations or combinations of styles can be considered. The specific Saiga model must be

identified when ordering. The only models that have interchangeable handguards are the

    Saiga 223 and X39.

    Galil Style Handguard

    Version shown is for Saiga

    shotguns. Version for Saiga

rifles would have a vertical front

    face and an integrated retainer.

    Saigalil Style Also resembling

    the Valmet style of handguard

    with its angled bottom, this

    handguard combines the Saiga

and Galil styles of handguard in

this shortened version for Saiga shotguns, and with integrated retainer for Saiga

    rifles.

    Modernized Galil Style An

    angled variation of the Galil

    style handguard, also

    resembling the Valmet style.

    SKS Style This handguard

    style incorporates the groove

    style of the SKS handguard,

the inverse of the bulged style

    of the AKM handguard.

    One Piece AKM Style

    Simulates the ergonomics and

    appearance of the AKM

    handguards, but in a one-piece

    version designed for Saigas with

    no handguard retainers on the

    gas tube.

    Below: Saiga Rifle Version

Extended length handguards Saiga 410 and Saiga 100 each use a longer variety of

handguard. Most Saiga-410s are set up in a stylish sporting configuration, as these

    handguards represent.

This may be the first wood stock set ever made for a Saiga-100.

    Saiga Buttstocks

These buttstocks are designed to directly replace a Saiga factory buttstock with no

modification to the firearm. These styles can be used on all Saiga rifles and shotguns,

except the Saiga-100, which currently only has one style developed. As a default, these

stocks will use a buttplate taken from a Saiga synthetic stock, but can be shaped to match

a buttpad or buttplate provided by the buyer at no additional charge. Extra cost options

include cheek rises and certain ergonomic enhancements.

ergonomics improved over the factory synthetic buttstocks.

    Buttstocks for Stamped AKs

These buttstocks are designed to fit most stamped AKs, including Saiga rifles and

shotguns converted to pistol grip configuration with a standard AK trigger group. Like

the Saiga buttstocks, these can be shaped to fit any buyer supplied buttpad or buttplate.

Cheek rises are also available options on these stocks. Finger grooves are available on

    the Dragunov and thumbhole stocks.

    AK Pistol Grips

These grips are designed to offer ergonomics and styles typically not available for

AKs, as well as styles similar to exotic grips that are typically cost prohibitive. Finger

grooves, ambidextrous thumb rests, and metal ferrules are options available on all grip

styles. These will fit Saiga rifles and shotguns converted to pistol grip configuration with

    a standard AK trigger group

Stoner Style This style of grip was actually designed by me independently, with the

goal of developing what I considered to be the optimal grip. After designing and

making them, I discovered a strong similarity to the grips used on the AR-180 and

Stoner-63, both designed by Eugene Stoner, the same engineer who designed the

AR-10 and AR-15. Aggressive, filling to the hand, and angled slightly more than a

traditional AK grip, these grips are my personal favorite.

Zastava Style, Pattern 2 This is my second generation approximation of the sought

after Zastava Fat Grip. While I have since developed a more authentic

approximation, I consider this style to be more ergonomic.

Zastava Style, Pattern 3 This is my

    closest approximation of the Zastava

    Fat Grip.

SAW Style This grip has the same

angle as the Zastava Pattern 2 grip,

but has a flat back. The result is

similar to the popular style derived

from the M249 SAW machine gun.

Ergo Style This style of grip is

similar to the Zastava Pattern 2, but it

has the same angle as the traditional

    AK grip.

Improved AK Style This grip differs

from the typical AK style by being

    slightly flared, providing improved

ergonomics and a more solid grip.

Modified Galil Style This grip is also

    flared slightly compared to the

    original Galil.

AMD Style Not my personal cup of

tea, but I have a pattern and can make

grips very close in style to the

Hungarian AMD grips. Can be used

on both front and rear of an AMD-65.

    AK Handguards

These are military length handguards for stamped AKs. These same styles can be

made for an AKM, AK-74, Yugoslavian AK, and with integral or clamp-on retainer for a

Saiga rifle. When using a clamp-on retainer for a Saiga rifle, the handguards will be

made in the AKM pattern, and the buyer will purchase his own retainer. When using

either a clamp-on retainer or an integral retainer for the lower handguard, a gas tube with

upper handguard retainers will have to be supplied by the buyer.

    Krinkov Style The filling

Krinkov style is stretched to the

length of an AK M or Yugo AK.

    Tantal Style This handguard

was actually made before I hadany exposure to the Tantal style,

but the flat edges of its bulges

    resemble the Tantal lower

    handguard.

    Flat Sided Yugo Style The

simple, flat sides of the Yugo

    handguards are available for all

    models.

    Wood Selection

Stock sets are made from scratch out of a variety of domestic and exotic

hardwoods. With very rare exceptions, any item can be made from any available wood.

Base price quotes assume that a base price wood is used. Upgrade prices for higher end

woods depend on the style, size, and quantity of the items, and reflect both the price of

the wood and increased work required by that wood choice.

    The following woods are generally

available, either in stock or able to be

    obtained and machined with high

confidence. They are listed in order of

    lowest to highest upgrade price.

    Red Oak

    Hickory

    Spanish Cedar

    Honduran Mahogany

    Hard Maple

    Walnut

    PadaukBubinga

    Jatoba

    Purpleheart

    Wenge

    Teak

    Cocobolo

Certain others may be available, but

cannot be guaranteed to be available or

    suitable.

    Philippine Mahogany

    Cherry

    Birch

    African Mahogany

    Lyptus

    MakoreSapele

    Zebrawood

    Morado Rosewood

If a buyer desires a wood that is not listed, it can be investigated and either quoted or an

    alternative wood choice proposed.

    Mission and Policies

BattleRifleG3 is the leader in innovative wooden furniture for Saiga rifles and

shotguns and for the vast majority of AK based firearms. While other platforms will be

explored as time permits, the AK family, due to its standardization and simplicity, will

most likely always be the focus of this operation. BattleRifleG3 is the only current

manufacturer of complete US made wooden furniture sets for the Saiga series, and able to

outfit both the factory sporter configuration and the common pistol grip conversion

performed by professional gunsmiths and responsible using in a variety of methods.

Almost all items made by BattleRifleG3 are custom made to each buyers order.

Thus, while timetable and pricing are more than typical production furniture, a great deal

of customization and individual attention are provided at a very competitive cost.

Changing one detail or another only costs as much as it adds extra work. There are

generally no steep customization fees making it your way is part of the deal. While

many suggestions and a few ready-made items may be proposed, everything boils down

    to what the buyer wants.

Some options can be priced quickly. Handguard vents, a cheek rise on the

buttstock, and finger grooves in a grip are typical add-on features. Others that are not so

common need more discussion, which Im always happy to do. Some special features are

available at no extra charge. You can mix and match any feasible styles in matchingwood grain, and some buyer provided components, such as a buttpad, can be integrated at

no additional cost. Many hardwoods are stocked, but their selection and quantity varies.

Feel free to ask about any particular wood you are interested in. It would be best to have

several woods listed in order of preference.

Theres a saying on time, on budget, and on spec pick two. In an imperfect

world with its share of surprises, sometimes hard choices need to be made on how to best

deliver a product. My choice is to be true to my word on what your item will be, and not

to charge more in the end than I quoted in the beginning, unless a change to the order is

agreed and accepted by both parties. That means that if I ever have to pick two, I will

take the time necessary to do things correctly. Sometimes that means remaking an item.

Point being that estimated time to completion is just an estimate. What I will do is

explain where things stand any time you wish to ask me. If I dont have significant

    16/17

progress on your order, I probably will on those farther ahead in line, which brings yours

    closer to the top.

Theres one area where Im caught between a rock and a hard place How to

handle order changes, cancellations, and returns. In this area, the fact that Im a small

operation and the fact that everything is customized makes the situation a bit different

from major vendors with high volumes, who compete with each other by making the

ultimate satisfaction guarantee. The choice I have made here is that I want to give the

best value to those people who communicate their desires clearly and who understand

that the work that goes into a customized item is irreversible.

My guarantee is this that I will honor my quote and all of the terms agreed upon

when we settle an order, and will not change anything unless we both agree to it. I will

also answer truthfully any and all questions you have before settling on anything. It

matters to me that you know what youre getting, so I am patient and do not pressure you

to settle on an order until you know everything you need to. I can consider requests to

change an order after it is placed depending on how far it has progressed. I may have to

quote additional charges beyond the price of any upgrade. Sometimes I can offer

changes more easily, but I cannot promise any change.

I have a guarantee, but not an elective return policy where you can return an

item for any reason. You could call it an accuracy guarantee, where I make things right

if I get something wrong. If you think that this policy hurts business, the fact is that on

my scale of operation and my level of customization, reversed orders do more damage

than lost sales opportunities. For quite some time I have had a constant backlog, usually

quoting a month or more time to complete any order. I am confident that this is the right

choice for my business. And for those buyers who take their side of the deal as seriously

as I take mine, this means giving them the best deal possible, without absorbing the costs

of reversed orders into their fulfilled ones.

If this policy concerns you, I ask you to take your time and watch the orders of

others be fulfilled to their satisfaction. Check my reviews from many customers, as well

as pictures of the furniture on their guns. I participate in the accountability (feedback)

systems of many popular and respected firearms forums and auction sites. Ask as many

questions as you like with no pressure or hurry. And, once in a while, I do offer items

  • 7/28/2019 Battle Rifle g 3 Catalog Beta

    17/17

made by my own initiative for immediate sale and prompt shipping. So if you prefer an

item already made over something made to order with a multi-month lead time, then my

limited production furniture may be worth considering when it is available.

    Payment Terms

Payment terms for customized Saiga and AK furniture are 50% down, with the

balance due on completion. You are of course welcome to pay the balance however

much sooner you like, including all up front. Your deposit marks your place in line for

completion. That, like estimated time to completion, is a sequence I hold to most of the

time but may have to change when it is in the compelling interests of keeping production

reasonably efficient and cost effective for everyone.

Requiring deposits before beginning an order has effectively solved the previous

problem of buyers disappearing or otherwise failing to follow through with their end of

the transaction. However, I have to have a policy in place just in case this happens again.

Having a deposit puts me in an uncomfortable position if the buyer then does not follow

through, since I have received some payment, even if not all. It becomes even harder

when a buyer has supplied components for the project. My policy, which I hope I never

have to enforce, is that if three calendar months pass after the project has been completed(and the buyer repeatedly informed) and the final payment has not been received, I

reserve the right to sell the items. I also reserve the right to be gracious at my discretion

alone. I hope I never have to act upon this policy. Feedback left on discussion forums

will be factual and objective. Unreasonable lapses in communication and delays in

payment may be noted even if the transaction is completed. I generally have a broad

definition of what is reasonable, so this is nothing to worry about except in severe cases.

The items and terms in this catalog are subject to

change without notice. Revised terms and details

will be communicated with the buyer.
