EPIC SMALL PERC ENSEMBLE

Welcome to “Epic Small Percussion Ensemble,” the latest in our growing line of epic

percussion libraries. This is another collection of small orchestral percussion and meshes with

any of or other “Epic” libraries. The focus this time was on multiple articulations on a variety

of different small drums, including ol’-reliable, the snare drum. But we didn’t leave out the

unique; rather we recorded a few more eclectic percussive instruments. The instruments

were recorded in the same epic hall as a lot of our instruments, so their rich sound and

wetness will match a lot of our other percussion our-of-the-box. We included a few creative

articulations for some of the instruments that we discovered as we went about deep-

sampling them, creativity being our goal. These drums know they are epic; so much so, in

fact, that they have become quite big-headed. One might even say pompous. They speak with

grandiloquence and look down on the lower-rung employees (plebeians). One snare drum

demands we call it “Commodore”…

MANUAL INSTALLATION

If you have had any issues using our automatic installer. Please using the following manual installation procedure.

Use Winrar or UnrarX to un-compress the “8DIO_Epic Small Percussion_Ensemble.rar” file into its own folder in your sample library directory. Make sure to preserve the included folder structure. This is usually done by selecting the “extract to'...” option in Winrar or UnrarX and then creating a directory called 8DIO_Small_epic_Percussion_2.

You should now be able to open and play the .nki files. Be aware that all of our .nki files are compatible with full retail versions of Kontakt 3.5 or Kontakt 4 only.

Note: The Free Kontakt Player and any bundled Kontakt or Kompakt Players that come included with other software, hardware or built into other sample libraries won't be able to load this library. You may be able to run the library for a 30 minute “demo” period, but the full retail version of Kontakt is required to remove this restriction. However, since our wave directories are open, you can translate the patches into whatever format you like. There are a few conversion utilities available that can make the translation process much easier.

UI Controls:

This instrument has a variety of special controls that allow deep realtime performance customization. Not all instrument presets include all controls listed. Included controls depend on the specific features suitable for each preset.

Attack - (CC 74)This knob controls the sharpness of attack. Increasing the value causes the sound to attack more softly.

Swell - (CC 1/Modwheel)This knob controls the overall volume and intensity of the sound. This allows realtime volume swelling and fading.

Release - (CC93)This controls the release behavior of the sound. Lower settings cause the sound to be damped and cut off, while higher settings allow the sound to play out as long as a note is held down.

Offset - (CC 71)This allows you to skip ahead and start each sample farther into the actual wav file. This allows you to customize exactly which part of the sound you want to play.

Stepping - (key-switches C-2 - C0)This allows pitch shifting on the fly. The Stepping settings will determine how many semitones (100 cents) up or down from normal that the sounds will play the next time a note is triggered. You can use the main pitch knob or pitchwheel for realtime pitch bending. You can go up or down by 24 semitones with this knob at any time. The pitch control key-switches override this knob.

Key Switch On/Off ButtonThis enables/disables the key-switches between C-2 and C0 that shift the pitch up or down. C-1 resets

UI Controls:

Tuned/Untuned ButtonThis button enables/disables key-based pitch changing. When on, the samples are pitch-changed like a tuned instrument, based around C3. When off, each key will be the same pitch.

EQ Controls

Low

Controls low frequency gain.

Mid

Controls mid frequency gain.

Mid_freq

Controls what is considered to be the “middle”

frequency in the EQ.

High

Controls high frequency gain.

Uberarpeggiator Controls:

Mode

Selects the working mode of the arpeggiator. These

include, Off, On (where keys have to be held), and

Hold and Hold+- (which allow for press-and-forget

playing).

Note Order Menu

Dropdown menu with various options of the pattern

of the arpeggiator.

Rhythm

Select the rhythm in which notes will be arpeggiated

based on Kontakt’s master BPM setting.

UI Controls:

Hits

This knob controls how many times each note in the

pattern will be played before moving on to the next

one.

Repeat

This knob controls whether or not the lowest or

highest note will be repeated in certain playback

patterns.

Hit%

This knob scales the velocity of the subsequent hits as

controlled by the “Hit” knob.

Swing

Controls the amount of swing in the beat/pattern.

Pitch

Changes the pitch, in quarter tones, of notes after the

initial note in the pattern.

Velocity Table

This table allows users to draw in the velocities to be

played by the pattern. NOTE: Only works when the

“Table Velocities” button is On. This allows for more

complex rhythms.

Steps

This controls the number of steps in the table.

Table Velocities Button

On makes the “Velocity Table” active. Off ignores it.

Reset Button

Resets all table velocity values to zero.

UI Controls:

Constrain Button

When on, arpeggiation will be constrained to a certain

scale.

Higher/Lower Menu

Determines whether or not a note not in the chosen

scale will be pitched up or down to fit the scale.

Key

Select the key to which to constrain the arpeggiated

pattern.

Scale

Select the scale to which to constrain the arpeggiated

pattern.

All sounds and samples in this product are licensed, but not sold, to you by 8DIO, Inc. for commercial and non-commercial use in music, sound-effect, audio/video post-production, performance, broadcast or similar finished content-creation and production use.

8DIO allows you to use any of the presets, sounds and samples in this product for commercial recordings without paying any additional license fees or providing source attribution to 8DIO, Inc. This license expressly forbids any unauthorized inclusion of content contained within this library, or any any 8DIO library, into any other sample instrument or loop, samples or SFX library of any kind, without our express written consent.

This license also forbids any re-distribution method of this product, or its sounds, through any means, including but not limited to, re-sampling, mixing, processing, isolating, or embedding into software or hardware of any kind, for the purpose of re-recording or reproduction as part of any free or commercial library of musical and/or sound effect samples and/or articulations, or any form of musical sample or sound effect sample playback system or device. Licenses cannot be transferred to another entity, without written consent of 8DIO, Inc.

RIGHTS

8DIO retains full copyright privileges and complete ownership of all recorded sounds, instrument programming, documentation and musical performances included in this product.

REFUNDS

Downloaded libraries can't be returned, so we can't provide refunds. We may choose do so at our own discretion,but please be aware that as soon as you've downloaded it, you can't return it.

RESPONSIBILITY

Using this product and any supplied software is at the licensee’s own risk. 8DIO holds no responsibility for any direct or indirect loss arising from any form of use of this product.

TERMS

This license agreement is effective from the moment the product download link has been sent or otherwise delivered via any physical or digital means.

VIOLATION

We don't use any form of DRM software, registration, license keys or other anti-piracy technology in this product. We do this because we love you. That's also one of the reasons our prices are so low, even though it takes a long time to make these libraries. The other reason is because we love music almost as much as we love you. If you've done any “deep sampling” and the labor-intensive programming that comes with it, you know that it is very hard work.
