1. Plant Introduction:
Foundation Power Plant Daharki is the Combined Cycle Power Plant based on low BTU gas. The
Foundation Power Company Daharki Limited (FPCDL) is the Owner of plant and KEPCO Plant Service
and Engineering Company Limited is the O & M Operator of Plant. Power plant is utilizing Low BTU
Gas (530-590 BTU/SCF), which is being produced by the Mari Petroleum Company Gas Fields. Total
generation of the plant was 334. 713 GWh during this reporting period (April ~ June 2013).
2. Purpose and Scope:
The main purpose of this environmental monitoring was to determine the plants compliance with the
National Environmental Quality Standards and World Bank Standards.
The scope of this monitoring was limited to stack emission monitoring, recording sound level (plant area
and outside the plant boundary) and testing of waste water, canal water, drinking water and raw water.
3. Legal Requirements:
In accordance to legal requirements under Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997 (PEPA, 1997),
industry is under obligation to monitor its pollution load (effluents/emission) and report it to respective
Provincial Environmental Protection Department.
According to this legal requirement and also according to commitment made through the Environmental
Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Project (Fitchner 2005) and Initial Environmental Examination (SIEE
2007), Foundation Power Plant Daharki is obliged to prove that the plant confirms to legal
environmental protection requirements of PEPA, 1997 (NEQS, amended 2000)
4. Environmental Monitoring Team:
Foundation Power Plant Daharki Environmental Monitoring Team consisted of:
Shaukat Ali (HSE Officer)
Jamil Ahmad Soomro (Chemical Engineer)
Wahid Bux (Assistant Chemist)
