    WHAT IS A PODCAST?

    In the simplest sense, podcasts are audio or video

    recordings which are usually done in MP3 or MP4

    formats for distribution over the web, the computer or

    on handheld devices.

    The term Podcasting is a blend of two words, iPod

    and Broadcasting.

    INSTRUCTION?

    Podcasts allow teachers to:

    y Rediscover the power of the spoken word byutilizing new technologies to communicate withstudents

    y Stimulate students interest in the subject byusing different media formats

    y Use content that is easy to learn (avoid figures, drawings)

    y Recordings of classroom lectures may not be the best use ofpodcasting.

    y Narrow the focus of a podcast.

    Chunk the information on your podcast identify important concepts or issues students tend

    to struggle with and develop a podcast episode foreach.
