England Vs. France 150 years of war
• From 1613- 1763 England and France fought in several wars
• The wars happened in both North America and Europe
• In Europe, England and France were fighting over territory, allies and who would be the next rulers of some European Countries
• In North America, the fighting was about territory

• France and England both gained and lost territory in North America between 1650 all the way up until 1760• During the different wars, the British
took territory that belonged to the French

both countries• A treaty is like a contract that is signed• The treaty is like an agreement between the
countries• It explains who won and what everyone gets
after (land, money, goods, people, ect.)• In 1713, the Treaty of Utrecht was signed• In 1713, the British took land around Hudson
Bay, Newfound and “Acadia”

• The two sides started fighting over territory• The war started in 1756 and ended in 1763• The French captured a fort in New York• The British captured French territory in the
Ohio Valley

Battle on the Plains of Abraham• The Battle took between 15 and 30 minutes• The French general was named Montcalm• The British general was named Wolfe• Both men died• The French surrender Quebec City

Europe…• It takes 3 more years for the British to beat the
French in Europe

Conquest
What happened after the British Conquest?
• England took ALL of the land that belonged to the French (New France).
• New France is gone!• IT is now called British North America• England divided the land up into sections• France got to keep 2 small islands called St.
Pierre and Miquelon for fishing
